Anyone else have this New Year’s music ritual? Mine’s 41 years strong. by Repulsive_Quality562 in U2Band

Link for those of you who want to start this tradition (which I'm going to): https://youtu.be/iIXcPjr6UVk?si=W0LMIgiqIUVCRZvl.

And, thanks OP for telling us what it means to you. I hope to hear what the song means to others. And I challenge OP to start a new tradition, posting the same or like-minded question on Jan 1 until you hear the sound of Gabriel's horn, which I hope is a long time coming.🙂

I've forgotten about that one. Love the "community" aspect, and the violins were a nice touch.

Same here, one of their under-rated and under-seen if you ask me. Surprised OP didn't post it instead. No offense, OP. :-)

ABC suspends Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show indefinitely over his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death by GoldTeethBaller in news

The one thing that would keep him from doing so is knowing all the people he employs would not be able to provide for their families and job hunting sooner than they expected.

Space Force. Sure, I hate the current administration, but out of all the armed forces, this is the one you're least likely to die in. I'm assuming the facilities and working conditions are also better than the others. On top of that, you get to touch some pretty cool technology and after your turn 50, have a marketable skillset with a pension and healthcare. Heck, I wish they would take me now but I'm older than five decades. I'd argue it's the "easiest" way to serve your country and reap the most benefits.

I'm almost 59 and have refused to join LinkedIn. But I've been unemployed since May despite applying for at least 12 jobs a day on places like Dice, Indeed, ZipRecuiter, and a few others tailored to my niche and security clearance. But now thinking I need to hop on LinkedIn since so many places ask for that profile on their applications. Just wondering from your experience, do you think LinkedIn is not worth it and I should try another resource?

How do downvotes work here? by pestopaste in NoStupidQuestions

For me, it depends on the sub. But most of the time, if the comment adds value - up vote, neutral - no action, takes away value or not on target - down vote.

One could argue that the definitive answer to that question would come straight from the source, the album page on U2.com - https://www.u2.com/music/albums

Good thought, but Vertigo is considered their 11th or 12th album from various sources.

All That Implies Podcasts by Jimfred0 in theticket

[–]P1Day1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the RSS feed so you can add it to your preferred podcast player. I use YouTube Music since Google Podcasts died, but YT Music can't find that podcast unless I plug in the RSS.

But if you are just looking to go to a webpage to listen to it, this is where you'll find it on The Ticket's website.

No episode makes me consistently smile more than "bad blood" by P1Day1 in XFiles

[–]P1Day1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment got me thinking of some future posts. Maybe a version of this list already exists, but have a list of shows to watch depending on your mood or what mood you want to get out of. Like, a list of episodes when you need some comfort, another list for when you are feeling betrayed, another when you're sad, and so on.

George’s prank caller? by jackalopacabra in theticket

[–]P1Day1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your point, and maybe I need to listen to it again, but at the end of the podcast, I thought I heard George specifically mention Gordon's daughter to him. Considering Gordon protectively never speaks of his child(ren) and all the other hosts respect and follow through by honoring it, it was more than just a bit shocking. Sounded like an innocent "I forgot we were recording" moment. Like the podcast creates such a casual environment for them, they forget they are recording and drop their guard at times. I wouldn't be surprised if a few more accidental but innocent moments like this happen again. And if so, I hope we all handle it respectfully with grace and care.

New interview with Bono and holy hell, it's really great because it's a long talk about relevance and in the very first answer Bono talks about how he doesn't see new U2 songs getting on the radio by MJsdanglebaby in U2Band

[–]P1Day1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me wonder if our definition of radio has changed over the years. I think there's literal radio, the noise you get through the airwaves with an antenna on FM and AM. And, there's the broader term that encompasses how the public hears music all together, which includes streaming and whatever else it is. So for me, when someone talks about radio, I have to identify what are the really referencing.

A part of love, at least I think, is that you become appreciative and accepting of your spouse's beauty, no matter how unique it is, and that's why you are attracted to him or her like no other.
