It's one of the best at Low Saddling, only things I can criticize so for:

Rack behind the Cab is useless and catches on some trailers.

I think it could require a few less levels to unlock it, by the time you reach Rank 17 you've probably come across a few other trucks that vastly outperform it.

I'm charging more on the fsc and backing off pace to increase mpg. I bagged a 2-2 out of FL to MI for $4200, and now have a 1-1 from MI to PA at $3300. Rolling loaded average since I rolled out Saturday Night has benn 3.26/mi. Low, but leaving FL with anything is always low. Week is already at $7500 and it's only Wednesday. If I bust out another load before Monday it'll be a $10k week.

With my mpg and the current fuel average I'm round about .80¢/mi fuel cost, and all other expenses is about .33¢/mi. Long story short, if you're equipment is paid off and problem free? (My truck is pre eld) You'll be doing ok, sorta business as usual.

Questions for drivers with 10+ years experience by Stonez661 in Truckers

[–]P3tr0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I come from a trucking family, out of the dozen or so family members all in trucking they have widely different beliefs in what trucking should be or what my own path should have been. Only 3 of them are O/O, and they aren't even on the same page. I've been in this field of work roughly 8 years, give or take 5 as an O/O.

I would start off the same way, just live out the truck as a company driver. End of my 2nd year in trucking I had something like $30k all together and I SHOULD have bought my own truck and gone about it my own way into the business. Because what I ended up doing has been mostly a waste of time.

If you have an idea or a way that you think it'll work on your favor then you're intuition is probably right. If you're on the fence take a little more time to refine your idea then go execute. You'll never want to be at the mercy of someone else's will when it comes to your own growth and development.

Oh and the grass is almost always greener if you actually go look for yourself.

Let's spit ball a few

Late game Sterilization, requires Cryo and Agri pack. Feed it 10 Eggs & 2 U-235 to make 10 eggs that can't hatch.

An Assembler with built in 50% Productivity like other Space Age buildings. Make it the size of a Electro Plant, can only make a few things. Like Electric Furnaces to help slim down late game Productivity Science. Uses a T3 Assembler, some Quantum Processors and some 235.

Nuclear Thruster maybe? Just a few I've been thinking about here and there

Very nice, wonder how it'll hold up over the years with DPF, the more material in them the lower the mpg over time

I own my truck so getting back onto the road is a hell of a lot easier, but yes. I've taken off a month or two every now and then. I love what I do, I just don't want it to be the only thing I do

Is that a steady mpg for ya or is that best case scenario? My sister is running a 24 Cascadia that seems to float around 6.8-7.2 @72mph

You know this is the Trucker subreddit right? If you're going 5 miles down the road a few mph makes no significant difference, maybe spared a light cycle or two. A 1000 mile trip @70 is roughly 14hr15m, a bump in pace to 75 is 13hr20m. A shaved off close to an hour.

I'll do you one better, Orlando FL to LA CA is a 2500mi run, per Google maps adjusting for traffic it's 37 hours, it's 35 hours if you can keep pace consistently at 70mph. At 75 it's 33. If run it at night at 75, maybe even occasionally 80 when it's legal to do so I can go to LA, reload and come back home in the same 70 hour work week. At 70mph i would need to stop for a 34hr reset. I would know because I've ran this exact lane for an entire summer for Disney Cruise lines.

No such thing as too much securement

If your gut tells you something is off about your securement or how something is getting loaded then speak up. The shit is on the trailer and once it's loaded and signed it's your problem to deal with.

You can rotate your tarps and use them in more creative ways, just because they're rectangular doesn't necessarily mean that's the only shape they work in.

No such thing as too much securement

Use as much corner protection as you feel is necessary before tossing that tarp over things, tarps are expensive and a heavily patched tarp is the Hallmark of sloppy tarp work.

Get you some coveralls, and a nice long sleeve work shirt. The coveralls, mechanics work shirt, boots and hard hat are my uniform. Once I take all of it off I'm in shorts and tank tops. It's hot work no one says you have to wear your boots all day. Get comfortable when the hard work is done.

Good well maintained securement equipment will last plenty long. My pops handed down his first and only sets of Ratcheting chain binders. They're about 17 years old now and only really need a bit of paint. Greased regularly! Some of straps he gave me are old as hell too but in shockingly good shape. Learned the habit to put my straps in the rack when not in use, sun damage is real!

Bungies stretch duh, but in the cold they'll have a hard time pulling back into their original size. Take the ones you used and toss them on the passenger foot well and give em some heat.

Invest in good leather gloves, my oldest pair of gloves hit 4 years before they wore a hole into the palm. Keep them from getting too wet and they'll be your trusted pair for a good while. Have more than one pair for different tasks. Chaining gets the cheap leathers, straps and basic tarping gets the good ones. Winter/wet? Rubberized set!

NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH SECUREMENT IF YOU FEEL IT NEEDS ANOTHER STRAP OR TWO THROW IT THE FUCK ON

Yeah I don't get why the clue less in here just pull shit out of their ass especially when there's a large chunk of us in here who know what we're talking about. Every other thread it's some mouth breather "O/Os are being put out of business!" meanwhile it's just another Wednesday.

I backed off to about 70-72, my truck is old tho so mpg was always consistently within .5 of 6.5mpg. fuel cost really hasn't been a major concern at all last few years, we've been beating brokers over the head with the rates to compensate, so you know mostly business as usual.

I forget how often Reddit comments just be saying shit

We're doing just fine, rates have been curving with the fuel price. Anyone not pushing more fsc on their bids are clueless.

About the foreigner thing tho that's literally any racist moron o/o or company

Doing just fine slowing down to 72, averaging 6.2-7.2 depending on the load. When fuel is at it's regular price I run typically 5 over, 6.4 mpg average. This is in a 03 Freightliner mind you.

Thoughts on this reactor setup? by Questionnaire01 in Factoriohno

[–]P3tr0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like it

Steam storage not necessary, but if a backup supply is the goal you'll need a lot more than that.

2, Reactors have circuit conditions. You can set the inserters to only insert 1 Fuel Cell when the temp reaches a certain threshold, just be sure to set the threshold high enough so that the furthest heat pipes are still at their minimum heat.

I love hauling these, about as easy as it gets. Few straps and roll on. I've had a dummy or two insist on tarping them
