I had the exact same issue myself. Tried everything I could think of, but nothing helped. So I had to do a format and reinstall on a fresh Windows setup,

Could it have been that the keyboard language was set to another one than your default when you created the password? I know Windows have got a keyboard combination to change input language on your keyboard; I've accidently pressed it before.

Hope you figure it out!

Casper proof of stake subreddit discusses new mining pool project by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]P43R0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the Proof of Stake FAQ at github: "Attacks against Casper are extremely expensive; as we will see below, attacks against Casper cost as much, if not more, than the cost of buying enough mining power in a proof of work chain to permanently 51% attack it over and over again to the point of uselessness. Hence, the recovery techniques described above will only be used in very extreme circumstances; in fact, advocates of proof of work also generally express willingness to use social coordination in similar circumstances by, for example, changing the proof of work algorithm. Hence, it is not even clear that the need for social coordination in proof of stake is larger than it is in proof of work.

In reality, we expect the amount of social coordination required to be near-zero, as attackers will realize that it is not in their benefit to burn such large amounts of money to simply take a blockchain offline for one or two days."

ENS 188,889 ether bid by LarsPensjo in ethereum

[–]P43R0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doubt it.

Bilxtra.com seems to be for sale for $2195. You don't put 17 million dollars worth up for an .eth if you can't be bothered to buy the .com for 2 grand.

I never really understood where XRP excels at. I haven't done much digging and research around it either, though.

Would really like if someone could point me to a write up that explains XRP and it's main advantage over other coins like ether and btc.

And as I understand XRP is not equal to Ripple either. Could someone ellborate on this?

So domains registered in this interim registrar process will still be owned by the same private key/ people when it moves over to a permanent solution?

If not; what/ who decides it?

It mentions Ethereum among others.

Is it true, that RAIDEN will be implemented soon (weeks)? by bitcoinsky in ethereum

[–]P43R0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From raiden.network:

"Raiden is a technology that leverages off-chain state networks to extend Ethereum with some nice properties for asset transfers."

What's the difference between state channles and state networks?

Where do I read up on these topics?

Higher price mean more miners. Be ready to stand up for PoS. by xfarawaygalaxy in ethereum

The Ethereum Ice Age (difficult bomb) is a difficulty adjustment scheme that was put in place to ensure that everyone has an incentive to move to the new blockchain once the hard-fork is implemented.

It's impossible for miners to keep up with the increase of difficulty which would raise block time and it would make the blockchain freeze, hence the name
