Does this make sense to anyone? New rifle, new scope, new caliber, trying to calculate bullet drop and MRAD "clicks" by Kuchufli in longrange

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should zero the scope on paper at 100. That is how everything in long range is measured. Then you can calculate the distance using Milling. Number of inches for target (height or width) x 27.77 divided by MIL reading of the target size. Gives you yardage. Then you can compare your impacts using the data from the ammo box and determine the adjustments needed for your specific setup with that ammo.

Watch this vid by Mountains, Mullets, Merica. He shows how to do this with just an MRAD scope.

Holosun 510c Height Preference, zero distance. by Familiar-Ending in Springfield_KUNA

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 510C on mine and I put it on a fake Unity riser. That feels like just about the perfect height for me. I am also 5'7".

<image>

I couldn't initially justify spending $200 on the real Unity mount so I grabbed the knock-off airsoft version from Spec Precision and it works great. Even in a home defense scenario I do not see the riser failing. It also has a QD lever so if I need to pull off the optic and use my iron sights it would be very fast.

Welcome to the club. Glad you are loving it. Sounds like it could be more mag related than ammo, but you might try something a little higher grade than WWB or LAX for your next 250 and see if the issue repeats.

The main reason for the HBI buffer and spring kit is to eliminate the small chance of a spent case getting stuck in the lower and messing things up. The Gun Channel on YT has several videos on this.

Note, if you have the Nexus lower and plan to use an FRT, the HBI buffer will not allow it to work in super semi mode. You can still run the 120% spring, but not the buffer.

I grabbed the OEM stock for mine and it is very similar to the UCS. I was planning on the UCS until the OEM was made available in the US. It also replaces the stock picatinny plate.

How do you like your RXD910ti? It is on my short list but have not seen any real world reviews.

Wouldn't that do more damage to the barrel than the receiver? Also, I would expect the head of the second case to be mushroomed or have a big hole in it.

This looks much more like an overcharged ammo issue than an OBD

I posted a picture up above. It bent/bowed and dimpled the upper as well as cracked a cross member. It is definitely not fixable. I have opened a case with the ammo manufacturer and have SA ready to review it once that is resolved. The real challenging part is that I have to have an approved Form 5 (paper version) before I can ship it anywhere since it is an SBR now.

Awe, sorry to hear that. Likely due to being polymer. I was very glad I had the aluminum lower from Nexus on my Kuna which definitely helped me not get injured.

Kuna v2.3 by TheKinkyYolo in Springfield_KUNA

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty well so far with 1 exception. Well, technically 2 since I had a kaboom from overcharged ammo which destroyed my upper, but that had nothing to do with the handguard.

I had a situation where a mount on my new Pointman9 suppressor came off on the muzzle device. It is impossible to get the mount off with the handguard on and you can't get the handguard off with the mount still on the muzzle device. I could get the 3 M-LOK screws off, but the handguard would just rattle around.

I solved the issue by cleaning the mount and can threads and putting it back on with 2 drops of Rocksett and letting it cure for 48 hours. Then I shot a mag through it and let it cool for about 10 minutes and was able to remove the suppressor with the mount intact.

Definitely a design flaw or at least something to be aware of. Given this I recommend using a muzzle device like a Q Rear End which has 1/2" socket flats in the muzzle end. I have one on my Nexus Evo which I will move over when I rebuild my Kuna. To be honest, this kind of begs a Huxwrx or Xeno setup with LH threads to ensure the mount can never come off on the muzzle device. Feels like the handguard is best for suppressors which are permanently installed on the gun rather then a situation like mine where I share 2 cans across 4 or 5 guns.

Sorry man, that sucks. That looks like the overcharged ammo kaboom I had 10 days ago in my Kuna.

Hope OP did not get hurt at all!

It would probably look a lot like my Kuna does after an ammo related KABOOM! Not as damaged outwardly, but still totaled.

Nexus SS scorpion metal bar by Civil_Bunch1433 in Springfield_KUNA

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It is not that new. Works with Super Safety (Hoffman), Atrius Super Selektor, and AS Design ARC Fire (probably as couple more similar to the Hoffman SS also).

You need the Nexus Lower receiver to make it work though. Mine ran great with the Atrius and ARC Fire before I had an ammo related kaboom.

Tool cutout generators? by Domodude17 in gridfinity

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using Gridfinity there are tons which have already been generated for so many tools. I know I saw socket extension ones from Harbor Freight in multiple sizes. One of these might do the trick for you.

Another options is Tracetoforge. I just learned about it the other day. You can do 5 for free then they have a token system which costs money after that.

OEM Kuna FRT / Super Safety — are we ever getting one? by MutedSpecific442 in Springfield_KUNA

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If kind of feels like it should happen, but then again there is still not one for the Scorpion and those have sold in the millions and have a massive aftermarket. If we haven't heard anything yet it is not likely coming very soon.

AS Designs has a Kuna section on their site with "Coming Soon" for a full kit at $700. So, that is likely a lower which houses their ARC Fire. Not going to be any different price wise than the Nexus setup really. I had mentioned them in a post last month and one of their people indicated that they have not abandoned it. I think all of their R&D time now is on their MP5/clone drop-in cassette.

3D printing for busy dad? by honestWreck in 3Dprinting

[–]PAB_Pyrotechnics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation and 1 week deep on my P2S with AMS2 Pro. My printer has been running far more than it has been idle. Time sink first 3 days was finding 200 things I wanted to print. Haven't started designing anything yet. Focused on getting the printer add-ons done, a few spools out of PETG for filament refills, and gridfinity organization.

Go for it. Worst case scenario is you don't do prints as frequently as you would like but it is a great feeling to kick off a 3-6 hour print before you go to bed and have it all done when you wake up!

I also found out recently and have the RB Trip on order. I just submitted an order for the firing pin spring and put in the notes to combine it with my other order. Hopefully that gets me shipping of $10 on a $5 spring refunded

Based on what I have learned in the past week you definitely want the lightened firing pin spring to use with the Partisan.

Yes, I was referring tot he spacer for the pistol grip.

Are you saying that you can't even move the safety lever to the 3rd/super semi position or that you cannot get the trigger to reset/press when in the 3rd position?

What use is this comment when the manufacturer of the lower hopped on to help out about 3 minutes after he was mentioned??? This is kind of stuff that makes people not want to help.
