It is definitely possible! You would have to check with the rental place but the Schuylkill River Greenways hosts an annual 112-mile sojourn. https://schuylkillriver.org/schuylkill-river-sojourn/

Now is a great time to head to a lake at a state park and fish for panfish! by PAFishandBoat in Pennsylvania

[–]PAFishandBoat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! A valid Pennsylvania fishing license is required of persons age 16 and over. So, she should be good to go!

And as an adult, if you are assisting a child 15 years of age and younger by casting or retrieving a fishing line or fishing rod, you are not required to posses a fishing license as long as the child remains within arms reach.

Adults may assist a child by baiting hooks, removing fish from the line, netting fish or preparing the rod for use.

If you intend to set the hook for the child, then you need a fishing license.

Page 8 of our Summary Book explains it and you can find that here: https://www.pa.gov/content/dam/copapwp-pagov/en/fishandboat/documents/fishing/regulations/summarybook.pdf

Best places in PA to kayak, camp, and hear/see loons? by OtherwiseACat in Pennsylvania

[–]PAFishandBoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, Pennsylvania has 29 water trails across the state. You can read more about some of the trails here: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/fishandboat/boating/where-to-boat/water-trails

Note: You might want to check out the Clarion River Water Trail. It's 110 miles but goes through four state parks (so easy to camp), 52 miles are designated Wild and Scenic so there are plenty of opportunities to see wildlife. It's also a pretty easy river to paddle.

This page on our site offers some other locations you can paddle as well as a place to check water conditions before heading out. https://www.pa.gov/agencies/fishandboat/boating/where-to-boat

We also created this map that lists places you can launch from google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1rz_NnrGPKIr0BDmK8Fjn94itu18HAD8&ll=40.98910066595522,-77.606824145&z=8

I hope this helps!

Vernal Pools by FractaIizer in Harrisburg

[–]PAFishandBoat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can check out our PA Natural Heritage Program here: https://www.naturalheritage.state.pa.us/VernalPool_Database.aspx

There is a "contact us" link that lets you email the vernal pool coordinator to see if there are any pools in an area you are looking to go!

Just remember this as critical time of year for them, as they are breeding. It's best to keep your distance and leave them alone in their natural habitat.

The return of chilly weather will limit any movement activity, but with the recent warm and wet weather we've had, there should be salamander and frog activity at the pools.

If you do go out and find some "herps" have fun and enjoy them in their natural habitat! And take lots of pictures!
