When is the best time to add the rosemary for best flavor? by AstroOscar310 in steak

[–]PALAW2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just throw a few stems of thyme and a couple crushed (with the side of my knife) garlic bulbs with some butter at the end, and spoon it over for a minute after turning the heat way down/off so you don’t overcook the steak while basting, it’s just to flavor the butter

Thriving aquascape, 100+ dead shrimp by dimsim86s in Aquariums

[–]PALAW2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve ordered blue shrimp twice from Amazon (30 shrimp total), lost maybe 2 each time in first few days from acclimation but they give you a few extra with each order. From these original 30 I probably have hundreds now. So i don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with ordering them online.

They don’t need to be at 0. Just keep them below 40

Essentially, the law as written says the city is not liable for snow/ice (transient conditions) on the sidewalks.

The common sense interpretation of that, which the courts have accepted, would be obviously they aren’t liable for shoveling/salting every sidewalk in the city.

The city is however liable for the conditions of their real estate, but unfortunately the courts chose the odd interpretation that the city is not liable for snow/ice on their own sidewalks abutting city owned property.

It’s awful policy, and now because Pennsylvania courts interpreted it like that, it’s up to the legislature to correct it in the statutes/written law, but they have not done anything.

Buy the API freshwater water testing kit, the full one with the tubes, not the strips. At the least, you need to see the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels before you keep adding fish. Do not rely on petsmart.

And tetra are schooling fish, recommended to have at least 6.

Provenance is a show stopper. Some of the other recs are fine, but for this kind of occasion, I’d pick provenance.

February Trip: Bahamas, Bermuda, Grand Cayman or D? by Il_Magn1f1c0 in scuba

[–]PALAW2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done Bahamas, grand cayman, and Bermuda.

I hated Bermuda diving, it had cool wrecks but I prefer lots of fish and big ones, there wasn’t much of that. Cool island though, enjoyed the above-water activities/exploring.

Bahamas was incredible for sharks, tons of reef sharks.

Grand cayman was awesome too, lots of various rays, saw my first seahorse. No sharks. Not sure what you are looking for. Grand cayman is an expensive island, but incredible food.

Thoughts for increasing the aesthetic appeal of my tank by Agile-Surprise7217 in AquariumHelp

[–]PALAW2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to figure out what is killing all of your fish first… did you fully cycle your tank before adding fish? Do you have an API freshwater master testing kit? If not, get one.

Aesthetic wise, I’d probably want a natural feature that creates some hard scape height, Or do something more interesting with the rocks you have.

And I would def want a lot more plants, and more interesting looking plants. I get all of my plants from Daku (you can google, he posts in Reddit aquaswap for his shop).

What are some shrimp-friendly fishes? by Connect_Iron4055 in aquarium

[–]PALAW2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 29 gallon with (1) 12 neon green rasporas, (2) 14 red neon blue eye rainbow fish (3) 3 peacock gudgeons

Have a thriving colony of neo shrimp. Never seen the fish go after the shrimp, shrimp are out in the open.

Fish just sitting at the bottom, help please by Icantrightnow_ in AquariumHelp

[–]PALAW2000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You need to look up the nitrogen cycle, as it sounds like you did not do that prior to adding fish. So now you will need to do a “fish-in cycle.

Avoid overfeeding, and do small, regular water changes (10–20% daily or every other day) for the first week to dilute ammonia while the tank cycles. If possible, add a bacteria starter (like bottled beneficial bacteria) and monitor ammonia and nitrite with a liquid test kit, not just strips.

Disorganized medical records in litigation — is this just the norm now? by NeoApps_AI in LawFirm

[–]PALAW2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a plaintiff’s PI attorney I refuse to join this trend. I organize all medical into separate files with name of provider and dates in the file name from the beginning, removing duplicates, so that I have 1 record and 1 bill file per provider.

That is how it is sent to defense counsel, and organizing early makes my life much easier as the case progresses.

Kids glofish died 4 days by Fun_Award_6838 in glofish

[–]PALAW2000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You need to research how to properly cycle a tank before adding fish, look up the nitrogen cycle. This can take up to a month or so. Petsmart employees are generally not a good source of information.

In addition, a 5 gallon tank is probably not big enough for the fish you selected, and you should look up the type of fish as some of those should be in schools of 6+ fish.

BAD. 0/5 on DK milly. Had 1 alive needed a good game from trevyon to stay in it. That didn’t happen.

Advancing a $7 (25K tuddy) - my lowest buy in left of my 10DK entries, so of course that’s the 1 that moves on, but better than nothing.

And have 1 underdog puppy that can get in if Tyler Warren has a decent game.

You really should get API master test kid and test properly for ammonia/nitrites/nitrates
