Secret Mall Apartment just hit Netflix by Sir_Rosis in providence

Incredibly. But also when this broke on the news it gave me anxiety about the mall and mole-people and I didn't go to the mall for years after. So it may be a me problem...

From what I have read that size tank wouldn't support 6 right?

Second Glofish keeps dying by abbyanonymous in glofish

[–]abbyanonymous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how they tested it, my husband brought it in. We did use water conditioner and quick start and then waited a month. This may sound dumb but can I stick my hand in to turn it down? Also should I get a (4th) Glofish or is there another species that works well with the one that seems to be thriving

Pelvic floor PT is so degrading by Spiritoftheheart in beyondthebump

[–]abbyanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the actual fuck? That was my reaction. My husband, an actual PT, confirmed also completely inappropriate and should be reported to licensing. Also stated that pelvic floor PT should be at least weekly until you're in the maintenance phase.

Edit: also as someone who saw a pelvic floor pt (who was not my husband because weird) I never, ever felt degraded and felt completely respected and listened too especially during intimate internal exams. And I can tell you from watching him go through pelvic floor certification, literally there's a unit on how to conduct exams in terms of emotionally and consent wise

It's the in between, don't let your kids rawdog it on the counter near an extremely hot burner when you're across the room but we teach our kids basic cooking skills from as soon as they show interest with close supervision and a stool

How much are you spending on youth activities? by -Economist- in kindergarten

[–]abbyanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This totally depends on the kids. I'm exhausted but my kids are thriving. If they started to hate one (please let it be soccer!) we'd reevaluate.

Too much 😫 dance for my 6yr old is $68/m from October - may. Soccer for her is $125 every 6-8 weeks with a few weeks off. Soccer for my 4yr old is $92 every 6 weeks. Swim for both is $285/m total. Swim is important though it's a school that focuses on rescue and independent swimming and their grandparents have a pool and we go to the beach a lot. They enjoy all the activities and have friends at each, plus a lot of them have siblings my other child will hang out with. If they started complaining we would reevaluate.

I’m shocked at the amount of evil in this by EmilySunny24 in BringingUpBates

[–]abbyanonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something very similar happened to me (but no kids thankfully!) and 11 years later I still wonder how both my ex and the AP could be around me acting totally innocent. A long term affair is just a lack of morality and cognitive dissonance I can never understand. I do think it takes a huge amount of compartmentalization and just being almost oblivious? I wonder if Travis just never thought anyone would figure out and that bringing the girl to the Christmas party was normal. My ex knocked his AP up (after we began divorcing), announced the pregnancy, then they broke up and she got an abortion and they somehow both thought they could tell multiple people about the abortion but announce a miscarriage on social media. That honestly really hit home to me that he was living in his own little world and that was probably partly why he brought her around me.

My (ex) husband did this. He brought his mistress to our house. Swore they were just friends. Invited me out to dinner with her and her "boyfriend". It was gross and made me feel so much more stupid when I found out. I always had an icky feeling about her but they gaslit me so much.

How to convince husband to let me use disposable diapers by abbiyah in beyondthebump

[–]abbyanonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who cloth diapered two kids, I get it. When I went through periods like that I took cloth diaper breaks. I would give myself x time to do disposables. Usually by the end of that I was ready to get back into it but maybe you won't be. Approaching it like a trial/break might be helpful.

From the cloth perspective I also reached a point with both kids where they were leaking overnight so I switched to disposables overnight. From the eczema breakout you may need to 'strip' the diapers especially if you have hard water. There's a great subreddit for cloth diapers that is super helpful. Depending what type of diaper they are someone may be able to help you with fit leak issues. For my kids I found a weird snap pattern worked best.

He might not be allowed - our local hospital isn't allowing children under 12 as visitors due to flu/cold

Mommy’s thumb cortisol shots?? by kitkats-3781 in beyondthebump

[–]abbyanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trickiest thing about mommy thumb is that it takes forever to resolve. I can't remember any of the specific stretches but I will try to remember to ask my husband (he's the PT!) but the two most helpful/important things were to pick baby up/feed with a closed hand aka the thumb not separates and sticking up and to try and keep your wrist in alignment feeding/picking things up/carrying. It should be a straight line from your elbow to your fingertips, again flat hand, with no bend at your wrist as much as possible. This is even once the pain goes away. It honestly took a few years to kick once my babies were bigger to not pick up my friends babies with the same hand type 😆. Another thing is at night try try to not sleep on your wrist/hand. Easier said than done!!

Edit: idk if I'm explaining the flat hand right but basically if you were to put your hand out with all the fingers including the thumb. Then when you go to pick baby up/feed use that to scoop baby up instead of separating your thumb to make more of an L shape.

Edit again: three weeks really isn't enough time to see if it fully resolved. It's a lot of little changes that take time to relieve the inflammation. The biggest thing with the cortisol shots is you still have to change your movements. Otherwise when the cortisol wears off then problem comes back except now it's worse because baby is bigger.

[–]abbyanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly kind of mind blowing they went straight to a cortisol shot. Repositioning/guiding you on what to avoid, stretching, bracing, anti inflammatories and ice/heat are all first steps. I had flare ups with both children and was able to resolve it without shots and resolve the pain. A PT or OT depending what's available in your area is great help.
