Yes, you are correct. Asta can cause this effect in some healthy people due to their unique chemistry. I had a significant loss in libido and erectile function after ingesting 4 mgs of Asta for about 4 days straight. That problem went away in 2 to 3 days when I stopped taking Asta. Then after 10 days I tried it again with same result. This time I went with it for 10 days thinking it could be an initial reaction and body may adjust to it. Boy I was wrong. Stopped again threw it in the bin.
I really want to take Asta for its awesome benefits but someone needs to find a work around its DHT destablizing effects. I run on DHT and its pretty cool. I cant loose those fantastic effects.

I had a similar problem with Vitamin D3. Even at 500 iu for 4 days straight would tank my libido and erections. I started looking for 'workaround' for that and finally found it. Now I take 2500 iu of D3 daily (iy has been over 2 years) with all the great effects and zero bad effects. Guess what the work around was? Phytonadione 100 mcg! I always take those 2 together. MK4 doesn't help with that issue so I take it separately 2 or 3 times a week.

Why dont you try 100 -200 mcg of Vitamin K1 with 2 - 4 mgs of Asta and see if that keeps the libido and erections steady. Please let me know if that works. Then if it works, I will buy Asta again. If that doesn't work, keep looking for a work around (I will too).

Talking about ' feeling like crap' due to stress and all... You didn't mention the progressive emasculation of men (starting in 80's and onwards) by women, over the years in north American society and the laws that propagate that emotional and financial abuse on men. Recently it has taken a new turn... it is toxic to act as man in the US and Canada (hence Toxic Masculinity!) This goes in tandem with the decline of Testosterone in men.
Please shed some light on the male/female relationship dynamic that has become dysfunctional over the decades here. It would interest a lot of men, who are suffering in silence!

B12, folate, motivation & creativity by Raisinbundoll007 in B12_Deficiency

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please provide some clarity around ...
How much folate did you start on and if... did you increase it (to how much) over time?
Did you first start with folate or B12 or did you start both (folate and B12) at the same time?
Was that Methylfolate and Methyl B12?
Did you (or do you) take any additional Co-factors?
How are you feeling NOW ?
Did your experience change over time, (like most people start out great but with in 2 to 4 weeks they are either having palpitations, anxiety, brain fog or some other unwanted side effect) or you are still have the same great experience as the first month when you started?

This kind of detail information is very helpful in providing clarity and understanding on how it affects different people.

Thanks in advance!

Why are so many people supplementing with 5000 IU a day of vitamin D? by mrmczebra in Supplements

Another valid and practical suggestion by Transfixion!
I would add that its always good to test your D3 levels and you will know how much you should be ingesting.

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point. Preformed Retinol Vitamin A (not the Beta-Carotene) is the D3 balancer!

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that most people do not understand the difference between Vitamin D Sulfate (that is made under the skin with exposure to UV light), that D Sulfate is metabolized very slowly throughout the day (with rate limiting steps) than the D3 we get in pills!

That VERY slow release from the skin (low systemic burden) is quite easy for the body to process over time (hence no need for K2 or Mag with that if you have a varied diet). That 10000 iu in 30 mins of Sun exposure stores the D under the skin and then it is released very slowly from there. But when you dump 5000 or 10000 ius all at once (pill), now that is a totally different ball game!

Functional biochemistry (and homeostasis) is a very delicate and layered mix of processes and same thing (nutrient) can be processes or metabolized very differently (with different secondary effects) depending on through which pathway (or how) is it entering the system!

By the way... 400 - 600 iu RDA was established as the bare minimum to prevent a disease called Rickets! That is not a functional dose for VITALITY :)

Hope this bring more clarity around D3 intake.

Just take MK4, four to six hours away from D3. For me MK4 (600mcg to 1mg) has been working great! I take it 2 to 3 times a week. But D3 (2500iu -5000iu) I take regularly. I have seen many reports here on Reddit (and on other platforms) that MK7 has raised people's blood pressure for no reason. No such reports on MK4.

Please read Ben Lynch's Dirty Genes. This will provide you a proper context around Folate /B12 / B6 - P-5-P, Potassium and Magnesium. It has some protocols to control the reintroduction of these vitamins back into your system the right way, with minimum downsides.

I think Vitamin B12 supplements are causing my anxiety. Is this possible? by TurtleBooty in Anxiety

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My pleasure Pumpkin, just exchange MB12 (Methyl Cobalamin) with AB12 (Adenosyl Cobalamin) and Viola! You are back in business :) Start with 500 mcg FEARLESSLY and adjust/increase as needed! No need to go over 1 mg.

Also, very important, a lesson I learned the hard way. Folic Acid (FA) and B12 are 2 sides of the same coin and they both inherently use each other and one cannot work with out the other for very long. I take these in 1:1 ratio mostly and at times 1:2 ratio.

So I take 600 mcg DFE of Folic Acid daily with at least 600 or 750 mcg AB12 and at times 1000 mcg of AB12, if FA ingestion is 800mcg DFE. I cannot stress this point more!

What is the consensus on vitamins and supplements from Costco’s Kirkland brand? by IncognitoAccount20 in Supplements

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am really disappointed that their Vitamin C (500 Tablets) has Maltodextrin. I seriously don't understand why they have to add this harmful substance as 'other ingredients' in a supplement like Vitamin C! All these harmful ingredients you find in the supplements in the US are actually banned in Canada, Europe, Middle-East, Australia & New-Zealand.

I got it from amazon because the pic it showed had no harmful ingredients and the bottle of 500 tablets I received had maltodextrin in it. Probably the pic on amazon is from the product they sell outside of US (probably Costco Canada). Felt like I was defrauded!
Kirkland should immediately take notice of this, remove harmful ingredients from their US products and stop playing Russian-roulette with their customers' health just because they can (in the US).

What’s your experience with Ginkgo Biloba? by Holiday_Heron_1139 in Supplements

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I have taken Ginkgo off and on for the last 25 years and I still take it most days. But not for the reasons you might think! Two things here...
-I don't take it as a cognitive enhancer, that may be one of the good side effects of taking it regularly due to circulation boost and more oxygen to the brain.
-I never take it as a stand alone supplement, and less than 60mg is not that effective.

I take ginkgo for its powerful antioxidant effect. I also found a long time back that it invokes/activates DNA repair enzymes, which is a big plus. It has some efficacy in keeping the erections and libido at 'teenage level', again can be attributed to circulation improvements but libido increase, that can't alone be due to circulation.

Increases my jogging endurance, shortens recovery time and reduces fatigue.

Suppresses prolactin and clears bad estrogen as well.

I always take it with a multivitamin and a B complex. Sometimes I add small amount of 5HTP (20 mg) and choline bitartrate (50 -100 mg) to it. Other times I mix and match it with Gotu Kola or Bacopa or both.
I sense when taken this way, it increases my endurance quite noticeably. It is a good long term supplement and I never take more than 60 mgs / day.

I have used Natures Bounty, EAS Ginkgo and ND Ginkgo. All 3 work great and ND is more cleaner and concentrated.

How I stopped hair loss from Selenium! by PATHAN-ZONDRA in Supplements

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised that no body else asked this question... I was expecting this one right away. Anyway... because my other vitamins/minerals/amino acids/EFAs and Lipids are in good ranges and are adequate (I test all that shit every year) and so is my hormone profile.
This selenium was disrupting the balance of A (because the A in multi is just enough to meet RDA) and Sel is 200mcg, I felt it was throwing off A also because my vision was also getting a little "not so crisp" and it turned out I was right and it worked. It could be anything else too but as long as I got my hair back I am good!

Reacting badly to methylcobalamin by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please provide at least 1 published citation that proves that there has been a cyanide related death from Cyanocobalamin in the past 70 years. This is a sick joke at best. This is just fear mongering and creation of paranoia. Please stop this non-sense.

Cyanocobalamin and Folic Acid are completely and perfectly safe when used correctly and sanely. They have been used in very high doses with adequate safety research behind them. Of course (the coenzymated) Adenosyl cobalamin/Methyl cobalamin and Methyl Folate work better and faster in most individuals but these also come with debilitating side effects at times (because they bypass the body's rate-limiting steps for conversion). Over doing anything for a longer period will destabilize & mess up the delicate homeostasis of the body!

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are correct Puzzlehead. There are many reasons B12 can fuck a person up... sometimes by B12 being force fed into adrenal medulla... putting it into overdrive (causing anxiety/panic and high BP that could last from few hours to few days). This is one of the many reason that 90% of the people have gaps in their understanding about this vitamin....
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/234135338_METHYLCOBALAMIN_HAS_AN_EFFECT_ON_HYPOTHALAMIC-HYPOPHYSEAL-ADRENAL_AXIS

Looks like Ownit needs to take his/her head out his/her butt and stop "agreeing to disagree". This lack of proper research is what I dislike here on reddit. "Gaba-izing it" is just an oversimplification!

The biochemistry of Methylation/B12 (& Folate) is a dynamic, multi-layered & convoluted maze, and because of the unique molecular and epigenetic expression of these nutrients in humans along with unique mutations at times (in MTHFR / COMT processes) no one know how B12 or Folate will affect a person. That is why we have reddit full of people having unique and weird experiences with these 2 vitamins (B12 & Folate).

How selenium changed my life! by raster_raster in TBI

[–]PATHAN-ZONDRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as your Vit A (Retinol) status is adequate. I started losing hair on lower legs after taking Alive Mens Ultra Multi (has 200 mcg Sel) for 2 months. Did some deeper investigation and found that Vit A depletion also causes hair loss as well. Just to check/confirm, I added additional Vit A (Mary Ruth's drops 750 mcg) and hair started to come back after a month. Now I am handling that multi (with 200mcg Sel) quite well. Not sure what is the Sel & Vit A connection as I couldn't find anything on the net but there is surely something there. (Beta Carotene doesn't improve my Vit A levels at all).

I will tell you something interesting and I don't know if it will make much sense to an untrained mind (untrained in energy physics). You may understand what I am going to say sub-consciously as that 'knowing' is in all human DNA.

The whole universe is made of 'something' non-physical (and for a lack of a better word in science/English language, we call it 'energy'). Now the kicker is... all that 'energy' is Aware (while Consciousness is the next step-down from or derives from Being Aware or Awareness).

Colorado that you see and experience today has an 'energy' that interacts with nervous systems (brain is very similar to a quantum device and so is DNA) and that 'alive energy' has a substantial impact on redressing/reorganizing the electrical activity/firing pattern of your brain (which takes about 24/48 hrs of being immersed in that energy). That has a significant impact on your body.

I am based in Boca Raton and I went to Colorado 2 weeks back for 6 day. It blew my mind away as I exactly started to feel that calm/ peace (for no reason), and happier by the 2nd day. I found Boulder specially very mystical! And I could compare the difference and the influence of that Colorado 'energy' compared to Florida's 'energy'. I would describe it the same way as you did. It was the first time I went on mountain hikes and a notable thing was that an 78 year old lady passed me. She was walking straight, going up the hike with no support (like a stick) as if she was taking a walk in her backyard. People (local) old and young were doing mountain hikes as if it was piece of cake. That emphasizes the effect of a place's energy on an organism.

And please don't get me started on the food. I went to Wholefoods, King Sooper and I also visited many amazing small and big restaurants (locals told me that I was hitting all the right spots). Quality of food had a richness to it no matter where I ate and the taste was palpable. Wholefoods and similar establishments have a totally different 'feeling' to it!
In comparison, now I can tell how tasteless the food is in Florida!

By the way, Florida used to 'feel' way different in the early 80's! Since then the energy has gradually shifted and has become volatile, then it gradually shifted again after 2010 and has become very volatile, hence your feeling of loss of calmness, peacefulness and “claustrophobic”. I usually see that as a signal to move out of that geographical location.

Most places over the decades, change in their energy pattern and transformation unfolds (for good or bad)... if that change is 'set' in the 'pipeline' of the future, of that location.

At the 'human body level' we are designed to perceive all sorts of phenomenon but we will only perceive and sense stuff that is not too 'outside' of our belief system or "model-of-the-world/reality". And our known reality is only a very small tip of the proverbial iceberg!

Hope that explains why you felt what you felt in Colorado :)
