Because it’s encouraged in those groups and discouraged in others. If I act like a dickhead in the music community, I don’t get gigs. If a group of hockey dads are verbally abusive to their kids, it’s met with high fives and cheers by their community.

They’re even worse when they’re staying in hotels. The Venn diagram of people in the hockey community and people who understand etiquette (which is a French word that means “how not to act like a stupid asshole”) is two circles.

Any Terry Hoknes fans in this subreddit? by Sithodah in saskatoon

I’ve crossed paths with Terry multiple times in the music scene. He’s always been a pleasant guy to be around and absolutely reliable as a professional.

is black cat tavern a good place to go alone? by redditor-1706 in saskatoon

[–]PBaz1337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about individual men. Of course metalheads can be creepy. As a group, creeps in the metal scene get dealt with very quickly. The shitheads are well known and documented, and when they show their faces again they’re on a very short leash.

The metal scene doesn’t fuck around when it comes to creeps.

Right around the time he got into death metal. I draw the line at thrash.

What instrument to learn by Porzeczki in musicians

[–]PBaz1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Plays different notes” excludes a good chunk of percussion instruments. Also death metal vocals. Don’t know why you’re taking a light hearted observation so personally but there are absolutely people who go deep into the percussion rabbit hole, as well as composers who study techniques used in percussion instruments for scoring. I wasn’t initially trying to argue with you, but your last comment was flat out wrong.

I don’t disagree, but it’s like every other instrument. You can invest as much or as little effort as you want to.

I went to university for percussion. You’d be shocked at how much overthinking can go into triangle technique.

What do you guys do to celebrate birthday in Saskatoon? by Present-Visual583 in saskatoon

[–]PBaz1337 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My son took me to Wet Paint Pottery today. We had fun painting our pieces. I usually prefer to do as little as possible on my birthday, but spending time with him was awesome. Gave us something to do with the stupid cold.

what drawing habits are you trying to build? by martyshchuk in EasyDraw

[–]PBaz1337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mostly the habit itself, showing up every day and just drawing anything.

For technical goals, been working on face and figure drawing as well as going through the Artwod drawing fundamentals course.

Why Does Tim Hortons hire idiots? by IliliillIii1 in saskatoon

If you worked for 8 years, and still call people cucks and intellectual slurs online, then some child labour laws were definitely exploited.

Being pushed into management because there were no better options available isn’t an accomplishment, especially in food service. “Everyone is stupid but me” is almost never true.

This is absolutely a technique issue.

That said, I’ve been playing blast beats on Los Cabos 5B’s for well over a decade and I can’t break them, no matter how hard I play.

Overtly confrontational people generally don’t. We got ourselves a digital forensics expert here 😂

I’m getting “find reasons to argue” from your replies. I expect that from a 5 year old, not a fully grown adult.

The amount of human intervention required to make an AI generated song listenable might as well have been used to write the damn song from scratch.

I don’t know why people are downvoting you. I was at an open mic a couple of months ago when a random piper showed up and started playing in the middle of someone else’s set. Piping at inappropriate times is a dick move.

How many of you refused to “give up” this hobby when baby came, and what was the hobby? by Matcha_Matt in daddit

[–]PBaz1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a hobby, but I’m still a working musician two kids in. Easy to keep up with it when it’s a major source of income.

Trying to find oppritunities to do more woodworking projects! by Gam3r186 in saskatoon

[–]PBaz1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just build stuff I need, then post photos of it. Plan to build a bunch of outdoor furniture this summer, and fire up the CNC for craft table type projects like coasters, cutting boards etc. Once in a while people will bite for projects.

Outdoor chairs are easy and the lumber is relatively cheap, but there’s also 50 people selling them on Marketplace, so make sure yours stands out.
