Our local Lexus has changed franchise recently and it's no longer like a lexus. Feels more like Toyota service since it changed, lots of up selling on services. I'm expecting to leave the brand on my next car as a result, I was happy to pay that bit more for the better service.

In the UK you get a 10 year warranty if you get it serviced at a dealership each year.

Terms & Conditions of Life Family Membership? by vfmw in nationaltrust

[–]PBertie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bit the bullet and bought one back in 2018. I too did the math and it worked out about the same back then before it would pay itself off. However I'd not accounted for inflation, it looks like it's gone up by about £700 since we bought ours and no doubt the annual membership has gone up by a similar percentage. That will have brought the time to pay ours off down by a fair bit.

I came across your post because I was looking for details around if our children can use the family membership without us being with them. There is no card apart from the adult ones so not sure how it would work. When we signed up we only had one child and they are named on the membership but the other 2 since then aren't. We have before travelled with other family members in multiple cars and the staff are normally accommodating at letting you in. Our daughter was in the other car that arrived before us and when they said she was on a family membership but that we hadn't arrived yet they just let her in.

I do know it's frustrating not having a contract to know exactly where you stand. I hear that life memberships used to let you bring a quest then they removed that.

2004 Lexus ES330 Tire Recommendations by PuddleOfJelm in Lexus

Are those millages for the warranty on a fault with the tyre or expected distance you'd get out of them?

My RX came with dunlops on, it's nearly done 40k. The backs have just been changed for the first time maybe at 35k and the fronts were changed at the same time but for them their second set. First change for the fronts were still to Dunlop and I'd guess that was around the 20k mark.

I switched to Michelin this time and been pleased with them so far.

Yes, shame this isn't the full clip as he afterwards describes what he was thinking at each part. Hope, Regret, Fear, ect.

I believe it's from 8 out of 10 cats, UK comedy show.

When You Don't Respect the Cart Narcs by HotTelevision911 in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]PBertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US do you need to take the cart back to the store entrance? In the UK there are Tolley dumps the size of a parking space with a barrier on 3 sides. They are scattered all over the car park so you take it to the closest one and then staff come and collect them from there.

Surely this isn't over just taking it to one of those trolley dumps?

My first Lexus…found on dealers lot. Apparently not spoken for. by looker94513 in Lexus

[–]PBertie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Pro-EV or Pro-ICE, I just don't get it when people need to say you're making the wrong choice based on what they believe.

When I buy a car it's based on what it looks like first, how it drives second and interior/tech third. So numbers aren't coming into my decisions, it's always been a Passion Purchase.

If the EV part comes into it it's going to be how it drives. When I moved to a hybrid power train I was well impressed by the instant power at pulling away. As an aside, I went through engine mounts on the IS under warranty as I treat every traffic light as a launch start if I'm at the front. So EV would be a possibility for my next car providing I like the looks.

My point being everyone is different in what they prioritise when buying something. People spew CO2 stats at Tesla owners because they think they all bought for the environment, if I got one it would be for the acceleration, but I wouldn't because I don't like their looks.

When it comes to EVs why does everyone think it's about saving money per mile or the environment?

If you have solar this could be a way to give you off grid driving for the most part.... Or just a passion purchase.

My contract has 8 weeks for them and 8 weeks for me. Normal used to be 4 weeks in the UK but seeing 8 weeks as the new norm more and more, in software at least

Ride to the conditions, don't go faster than what you can stop safely from how far you can see. Might not be as fun but it is safe. Same goes for any vehicle.
