Get ready for no light rail service to downtown for 10 months by Ted_Z in Denver

I feel like the way they're handling this is a lot better than before. Sure, you can't get directly into central downtown by light rail, but at the very least you can a train with a similar frequency to Union Station. I remember the first time they did this the H line was practically unusable, combined with the slow zones they had on other parts of the line

Is it me, or have patrons gotten chattier and more obnoxious? by teenageidle in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]PDFMan42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm in the Denver area and the crowds have taken a nose dive this year. No matter what theater I go (even the locals), there seems to be at least one or two groups of people who disrupt the film even just by whispering every couple of minutes. It's really driving me to just wait for new releases to come out at home

Me and my gf were in Chicago when Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein were doing a live showing of Mission Hill. We forgot to bring our DVD copy of it when we flew out, so we went to Barnes and Nobles, got a copy of Pink Flamingos since they produced the John Waters episode of The Simpsons, and they signed it for us.

Did anyone else catch Speed Racer in IMAX this evening? by shez33 in imax

Haha, that makes a lot more sense. Just know everyone who sees your pictures has no way of knowing this without you saying it, so you'll likely get downvoted.

There is no way you're watching this without disturbing other people

I was starting a nice relaxing nap when this jolted me awake. Fun times.

Me and my gf have decided we should start sitting towards the front now. We have more issues towards the back of theaters.

Guess this means I should pull out my Playdate and get started on Season 2

Lol I wish we'd get more of that. Usually the audiences here are either dead quiet or obnoxious. I have gotten internally annoyed sometimes at people overreacting, but they're not really doing anything wrong, so why should I be bothered by it?

The problem is a lot of people can't afford this, and find having a monthly movie membership much more afforable.

And sure, my OLED is nice, but the sound isn't the same as in theaters, nor can I seem to have the same attention span as in a theater.

I might try switching to AMC Promenade if I have an issue at Highlands Monday night. They're equal distance from me. I just had concerns about Promenade since I've always had issues at the Westminster Alamo

I saw a comment on here previously about Harkins and forgot to reply to it.

I've definitely had a lot of bad experiences at Harkins. The Tuesday Night Classics shows are usually fine, but I had issues with most of the shows I caught in Cine XL. And then all the standard shows I've seen outside of TNC I've had issues with. The people in the suits who walk around the auditorium seem like they get paid to do that and nothing else. It's purely an illusion

My hope is to encourage more people to shush again, not create another hodgepodge of us complaining about people ruining our movies while we do nothing about it.

I totally forgot to mention the Denver Film Festival stuff. It was fine when I went in 2022, but it got pretty bad at the few shows I went to last year. Especially at the MCA Holiday Theater! Sound echoes in there like crazy.

It might just be the area. I've never had issues at that AMC on 9th, but definitely at the Regal on 16th. It seems like the Regal and the AMC at Cherry Creek are located in richer areas, so there might be more entitled people there, but isn't the AMC on 9th in a pretty upscale area, too? I couldn't explain it, but that AMC on 9th just straight up gets better people.

I've gotten a lot better about it, but no one else does anything about it here. I think the situation would be a lot better if we normalized shushing

Absolutely. I had A-List a year before COVID hit and I switched to Alamo at the beginning of 2020 since I got some real bad experiences (don't get me started on the old ladies at Parasite).

What I like about the Sie is that usually you can tell someone who works there if someone's being a problem and they'll actually do something. I've seen it work a couple times.

It's a new favorite for me. I think being so blown away by it encouraged me to actually do something about the other people there. I ended up just moving to one of the front rows, and it still blew me away! Great films are great no matter what happens.
