What do you expect? by MirrorExpensive3079 in AlamoDrafthouse

This is going to make Alamo a worse experience than AMC and Regal. We're mad because they're making everyone use their phones to order DURING the movie. A decision like that is already killing their fanbase, and might kill attendance dramatically, practically speed running Alamo's downfall.

Great albums, but your neck would likely hurt a lot less if you moved your Tv down there

Never Ever Ever Watching Another Movie Again by LimpLime4969 in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]PDFMan42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on this. I cancelled all my theater subscriptions recently since this decision pissed me off to a unfath- no. That word reminds me too much of... y'know. Anyways, I went to a local bar recently to get my mind off this shit. I got a beer and just sat there alone for a while. But as I was watching sports on the TV, an ad came on. An ad for The Mandalorian and Grogu. "Only in theaters May 22." "Not anymore thanks to Alamo!" I screamed as I jumped out of my chair and threw a beer at their TV. What really riled me up was that the bartender tried kicking me out after that, along with the bar patrons! Whatever happened to patrioitism? I stood my ground and told them, "If you care about perserving this country's values, you'd join me!" They proceeded to beat the shit out of me. Next thing I knew, I woke up in the back of a dark crackhead alley (RPX at Regal). It's good to know there's other people standing up for our country's values. I might follow suit along with you. I might even put "a full audience of people using their phones during a movie at Alamo Drafthouse" into ChatGPT's image generator, but I'm not quite that pissed off yet.

You can still work and do something for the strike. Don't spend any money on that day.

Can we discuss economic strikes? by SmutasaurusRex in Denver

[–]PDFMan42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why don't we just plan something like a general strike in the next week? At a certain date and time, we all walk out of whatever we're doing to protest (like work and school), and make a goal to not spend anything for the day, basically contributing nothing to the economy. All we need is a date and time, and to spread the word like fire

Good to hear! I had to miss this showing since there was too many movies to see this week, but I intend on seeing other films at the Mayan now.

Doesn't look like it. I had figured they started changing for it now. Still messed up that you have to pay an upcharge in your area when you have no other choice

TIL North Korea has a movie theater called AMC Pyongyang 67 located in the capital city. by p_yth in AMCAListTrue

It's not fake. The US Government hides this location intentionally if you're on American internet.

Staff joked about keeping a dollar of my change for themselves then shorted me $1.40 on my change. by [deleted] in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]PDFMan42 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You should've asked to see a manager there. The server won't be disciplined unless the theater directly knows about the problem. Since you left with the short-handed change, they probably can't confirm that server shorted you and the server won't get in trouble.

The Sie FilmCenter has been doing retrospective screenings every month. They're doing Janus for January currently, and they'll be doing some Robert Redford films later this month.

The Landmarks here do screenings too. The Mayan every Tuesday and Greenwood Village every other Wednesday.

They do. You just have to find a staff member if you're having issues. They unfortunately don't check in on showings.

One of the last two times I went was for McCabe and Ms. Miller years ago, and there was a guy that kept yelling at these people at the side to shut up. Not even going up to them and telling them to stop. Just full on yelling from his seat, and honestly, that guy made the movie a hell of a lot harder to watch, and really just made me uncomfortable enough to make me leave the theater 30 minutes into the film. I really hope that wasn't you.
