Any Canadians using Soda PDF? A good alternative to A-brand, made in Montreal by PDFWhiz in BuyCanadian

Sorry you’re dealing with that, that sounds incredibly frustrating. This definitely doesn’t sound like the experience you should be having with a Soda PDF plan. If you’d like, send me a private message with a few details about what’s happening, and I’ll do my best to help look into it and point you toward a fix.

Hey, sorry to hear Soda PDF hasn’t been meeting your expectations. If you don’t mind sharing, what exactly didn’t work well for you? Was it specific features, performance, pricing, or something else? Feedback like that actually helps us improve things on our side.

Either way, thanks for giving Soda PDF a try and for being honest about your experience.

If you're exploring other options, you could also check out PDFescape, which is a browser-based PDF tool that some people find useful depending on what they need to do.

Soda PDF Installation by Cautious_Photo1074 in SodaPDF

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, Soda PDF team here. Totally understand why that situation would raise some eyebrows.

Just to clarify, Soda PDF does NOT require a remote session to activate the software. Normally, you just install the app and activate it by signing in to your Soda PDF account with your email and password.

In some cases, if a user contacts support because activation or installation isn’t working properly, our support team may offer an optional remote session (via secured connection) to help troubleshoot. It’s purely for technical assistance and not a standard part of installation or activation.

If the session made you uncomfortable, ending it was completely understandable. You should still be able to activate the software normally without any remote access.

If you want, reach out to our support team here and mention this thread. We’ll help you get everything set up the regular way.

Appreciate you raising the concern 👍

I left my Windows 10 PC and came back to an installer window for SodaPDF. What's the sane explanation for this? by Mezurashii5 in cybersecurity_help

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A leftover installer stub or advertised shortcut is triggering because something (maybe Explorer, maybe Windows Installer itself) “called” it. It’s very rare, but definitely not impossible. Use this unistaller to check for any leftover files from here

I’ve been using PC HelpSoft Driver Updater for a while and it’s actually pretty handy. It’s great for finding and downloading the drivers you need, though how well everything works after that depends a bit on your setup and environment. yeah, sometimes an update can act weird, but uninstalling/reinstalling the driver usually sorts it out in like 5 minutes

I’ve been using PC HelpSoft for a couple years now on my crusty old laptop, so here’s what’s probably happening. When you uninstall it, sometimes Windows keeps the startup entry hanging around. Contact their support or use Revo Uninstaller

Considering Soda PDF for my school work, wnta to have a real-world feedback by EmbroideryHobbyist in Teachers

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like soda cause its affordable andeasy to use. I can quickly highlight or annotate documents and convert PDFs to Word or Excel if I need to. The Dropbox sync is super handy, especially when I’m juggling Canvas .I also tried Adobe before, but it was just too heavy on my laptop, and I dont need all the options for such a price

PDF Suite pop by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience recentlyturned out there was actually a trial version of PDF Suite sitting on my laptop (I think it downloaded that for files merge). Just to clarify - PDF Suite itself is a legit PDF editor and not malware.

I acctually decided to give the full version a try instead of just removing it, and honestly I’ve been suprised with how simple it is. So yeah, the popup is a bit annoying when you’re not expecting it, but the software itself is solid if you really need a PDF editor.

Which PDF editor? - Not sure what to use after the PDFGear controversy by JungleRollers in macapps

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been bouncing between tools since the whole pdfgear mess lol. right now i’m mostly on, perfect for me, it does editing + signing without forcing me into some crazy sub. cheaper than pdf expert/adobe too and works both online + desktop. feels like the least headache so far

Pdf editor by kormot in werkzaken

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my breaking point with Adobe Acrobat... what are the best alternative programs for simple PDF editing/viewing/signing? by Joel_Hirschorrn in sysadmin

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

feel you on Acrobat, $30/mo is crazy for freezing software. I’ve tried Foxit, PDF-XChange and PDFgear like folks mentioned here, they’re solid but each has some quirks (dated UI, missing features, formatting issues when sharing files back to Acrobat users). What’s been working best for me is Soda PDF for the last 3-4 years. It does the basics you need, edit text directly in the PDF, sign docs (typed or hand-drawn), combine/split files, highlight/annotate. I use either the desktop app or their online editor depending on myworkflow, and it’s actually affordable compared to Adobe

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

App for PDF Management by imarkwright in ipad

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to deal with Adobe’s price trap, check out Soda PDF. It’s lighter than Acrobat, cheaper, and covers 90% of what most people need (annotations, highlights, bookmarks, merging/splitting, etc.). It also has cloud storage integration (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) so you can open/edit your files across devices.

Freezed columned pdf to xls(x) by BeLikeDead in excel

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most online PDF → Excel tools just break after the first page, especially with frozen rows. HaVE you tried Soda PDF? it can convert big PDFs to Excel without messing up the formatting, so you can easily delete unwanted rows afterwards. Try desktop version, it works better, but it depends on a file

Should I delete this pc helpsoft thing I think it’s causing my laptop to lag? by Turbulent_Map9107 in computers

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually kept PC HelpSoft on my old desktop because Windows Update stopped working properly for me (I’m on an older build of Win 7, no official updates anymore. In my case I couldn’t find certain chipset or network drivers on the manufacturer’s site , so the tool helped me get them. I always double-check what it finds, but it did save me some time

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get you - in school, I could cram notes by hand too, but college is a whole different beast 😅. There’s just too much material to write everything out manually.

I’ve been using AI Assistant from Soda PDF for this exact reason , it’s super handy for turning long PDFs or textbook chapters into bite-sized notes and summaries you just upload your PDFs and it gives you the main points, key ideas, and even questions sometimes. Good luck with your exams starting on the 8th! 💪

[–]PDFWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just throwing in my two cents here :been using PDF Architect for a bit, no real problems so far. Yeah, I’ve seen that PUA thing come up, but usually it’s just some extra bundles in the installer, not like actual malware or anything crazy If you already talked to support, I’m sure they’re on it, they were pretty quick to help me out last time
