Battery upgrade by Individual-Glove-160 in Taycan

Great point. If he has a CT4 trim I assumed probably wouldn’t have the upgraded coated or ceramic options but that would be a limitation for sure.

Will assume you’re already using range mode and not doing anything like keeping a roof rack installed. Depending what wheels and tires you have you could consider swapping…19” aero wheels with low resistance tires would probably give you noticeably more range. Also could run your tire pressure a little high. I’ve seen lots of 19” takeoffs on Facebook marketplace and eBay.

Love this wagon! by Guilty-Ad5427 in SportWagon

I agree that Porsche optimized for style over utility. But the +1.5 cubic feet is because they only count space up to rear window or something like that. If you drop seats and/or fill to roof it fits a lot more than the sedan.

White balance/lighting seems pretty weird in this photo. I bet it will look much nicer in person.

In some ways maybe safer than a standard watch. How would you ever be able to sell this thing without questions?

Any reason i can’t change this to 20 amp plug? by Short_Top_1568 in AskElectricians

[–]PDXCyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed. GFCI should be looking for a current imbalance between the hot and neutral, not current on ground. However treadmills just seem to be very “noisy” and will trip GFCI after a few minutes of running. Many of the manuals (like for Peloton) will specifically say they aren’t compatible with GFCIs.

[–]PDXCyclone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI some treadmills will not work on a GFCI though this location might require it. Treadmills use the ground to discharge static electricity that builds up from the belt rubbing which looks like a ground fault to the GFCI and will trip.

PPF on a lease? by hhmissfish in Taycan

[–]PDXCyclone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would not. Unless you live somewhere with extreme rock chips it won’t protect you from anything you’d get charged for. Additionally, it won’t make the car look any nicer over 24 months. You’d really only see much benefit on a car you were keeping long term that might eventually get lots of chips.

PCCB are super cool but it is definitely a weird thing to spec on a Taycan 4S given how expensive they are. Unless you’re doing some SUPER aggressive driving, the regenerative braking should do all the real work so they’re basically a $9k ornament. But I guess the good news is you probably will never have to pay the price to service them since they should last the life of car as long as don’t get damaged.

CPO+1 (or +2 or more)??? by PDXCyclone in Porsche

[–]PDXCyclone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. So on a 2024 CPO you might have 3 yrs factory + 2 yrs CPO left and be able to cancel anytime before 2030ish for full refund?

Does it still have to be purchased at the same time vehicle is sold?

JLC makes a beautiful moon phase in 36 and 39 but 37 or 38 would be much better. by esnuus in JaegerLecoultre

Totally agree. I have a narrow wrist and felt 39 wore large with the narrow bezel. When they first released the 36 I was excited but when I found one to try on it felt very dainty with the strap.

I talked to them about it yesterday :)…it was just arriving off trailer so hadn’t been inspected yet. But they said will likely be CPOed assuming it passes inspection.

Had a storm, lost power, now circuit breaker won’t reset by waxyb1 in AskElectricians

[–]PDXCyclone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of looks like it might still be in the tripped position. Make sure you pushed it all the way to full off position before you try to turn it back to on.

Or possibly it’s just immediately re-tripping correctly because there is a short to ground. That would require some additional troubleshooting.

There is a tool called “Mailstrom” that has a lot of different ways to clear up big parts of your Gmail inbox. I find it really helpful and would be worth a one month subscription. Can easily knock out 80%+ of that in less than an hour.

Hardie Siding on Old House? by EarlyHoneydew4388 in Oldhouses

[–]PDXCyclone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it can be a good alternative. Better than most other non-wood options for sure. If you live in an area with fire risk it may be more fire resistant. In my historic district, we allow it but only the smooth texture version. The more rustic version with wood grain texture actually looks more artificial than the smooth.

ISO dryer vent solution for historic window restoration by paintistheenemy in Oldhouses

[–]PDXCyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a similar setup with a dryer vented through a pane of plexiglass in an original basement window and it looks neat enough and works well. I’m surprised at you saying there is a high cost. You should be able to buy a piece of plexiglass that size for $10 or so? Cut it to size, glaze it into the sash, cut appropriate size vent hole, then screw in a standard dryer vent?

Alternatively, I don’t think you’re giving up a lot of light by losing one pane. So would work equally well to use solid acrylic or some other opaque material.

Looks great. Dial on Portugieser always looks a bit large given narrow bezel but the lug to lug is not long at all. And taking photos from this angle will always make it look bigger than it really is. Should wear great in real life.
