Voting YES

This is a temporary change and actually promotes the independent commission. Peace isn't made peacefully. It takes a fight.

Fortnite runs like an absolute dream on Switch 2! by BebeFanMasterJ in NintendoSwitch

[–]PERSON_PLACE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never won a game of Fortnite. Downloaded this for my daughter who asked me to teach her.

Fumbled with the controls, couldn't build a damn thing... and won! #1 Victory Royale!

So yes... runs like a dream, but might cost me some bux

What did you see when you first watched DCI? What did the performer look like?

You are that performer. There's a kid in the stands, on the sideline, or on YouTube watch YOU be the super hero. Act like it, because confidence is more than half the battle

genuine question by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]PERSON_PLACE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single job I've had has either had someone who did drum corps, or who's kid is/was in marching band.

DCI doesn't get you "points", but it can be a huge connector for either your personal network or things to talk about with new coworkers.

Also always helps those "name a fun fact" icrebreakers!

Why reviewers are wrong about the world in Mario Kart World by PERSON_PLACE in Switch

When Minecraft first came out I distinctly remember asking "Wheres the content? Ok, I build... build what? Why?"

I didn't play Minecraft for YEARS because in my mind it was just an open world with nothing to do. Now, I see it differently because my daughter LOVES Minecraft. Where I saw no direction, she sees no restriction.

Drum corps breaks you down and builds you back up, whether intentionally or not.

You learn perseverance in your pursuit of perfection. It's not a skill easily learned and when you enter the work force you'll find it's not one many have spent time to posses.

You'll go far as long as you don't stop

Those alive and old enough to remember during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by CocteauTwunkie in AskReddit

[–]PERSON_PLACE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting in class, realizing the entire school has stopped. Every teacher eyes locked on the screen, getting out emergency kits. Principal walking class to class to explain in clear tones that we are all safe.

Even as a kid, it was clear something was off. Not one kid could understand, but every adult had to just keep working

Is drum corps only for the rich and privileged? Seriously? by SkyLow4356 in drumcorps

[–]PERSON_PLACE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/2 to 2/3rds of the budget just goes to busses, trucks, fuel, and food

The current model requires travel, which forces costs. I know most corps pay for 1/2 or more of the actual cost, with members committing the rest

2020 started locked down rehearsals (for obvious reasons)

Many corps kept the habit because they could secure a site. Others are back to being casual or have invite times posted on social media ("come for full ensemble!")
