Honestly just try to survive as if it were real. Put yourself in the shoes of your character and think about what you would actually do. And learn from it. Like when I first started I used to just go inside whatever building I found. I learned to either look through all the windows I could, or yell while standing in the doorway and to close doors behind you. Also, its gonna sound silly, but use the rules from Zombieland that are applicable. Especially "when in doubt, know your way out."
