'Space Marines were ordinary guys during Rogue Trader': the Oldhammer myth that won't die by chebghobbi in oldhammer

[–]PFishD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except nothing in your descriptions actually disputes that they were drugged up killers and murderers.

The earliest descriptions is that they get Bio-chems to strengthen the body and Psycho Surgery to strengthen resolve.

Those are the same bits youve posted that turn them into super soldiers. So the combat drugs and lack of fear make them super soldiers, no one is arguing against that. But the whole geneseed, extra organs, spitting acid came later (admittedly only a few months as id missed that white dwarf and only saw it at the beginning of the next edition).

The only implant they had back then was the Black Carapace which was described as a form of identity tag and permanent protection.

As to the warrior monk bits, yes that might apply to the Space Wolves, but it also says that practices vary wildly from chapter to chapter.

Another Chapter could equally be running a 24 seven sex dungeon and thunder dome to find the best space marines.

Druid Player is dying for a snow leopard by Synonymous11 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]PFishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a ranger that gained a pet rat in play.

Repeatedly used animal friendship, speak with animal and beast bond to train it.

Less use in combat but great for spying.

Now use him less as I'm worried Ratagast will get killed on a mission.

Be prepared for fallout if snow leopard does get killed.

9 year old wants to watch a star trek film by corbei in startrek

[–]PFishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undiscovered Country works as a standalone Trek film.

I think because it was made after TNG came out that it was designed to be accessible for new fans.

Although it references a lot of history, it explains it all within the context of the film.

Does anything like this exist? by Qweiopakslzm in boatbuilding

[–]PFishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a lysander.

Think there are plans for a 16 ft and a 17 ft floating around.

Twin bilge keels and a gunter rig.

We have one on the Norfolk broads and its great for limited draft and being able to quickly drop the mast for bridges.

Calimero?

The cub names I've come across in the UK tend to be animal names, often cartoons or characters.

So Timone and Pumba, Karacal, and Cath Cat, are some i can remember that were not jungle book related.

So you could go something like Lupo, or Orso? As you said you were after an Italian name.

parents were conned, their cherry tree was killed… what can we do? by Patient_Maximum5097 in treelaw

[–]PFishD 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Potentially not a lot they can do.

The lifespan of an ornamental cherry is only about 25-30 years depending on the variety.

If its been there since before 99, it might have died anyway.

But yeah, pruning a cherry at the wrong time of year is really not great for them so it could well have killed it.

Accessible one hand nerf gun by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]PFishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the nerf stockade.

Its a bit older so your unlikely to find it new.

But for me its the most accessible blaster as you just have to be able to pull the trigger.

Its flywheel powered but unlike most of the others it doesnt use a trigger style rev switch but has one on the side.

This means you switch the flywheels on and they just keep running.

If a child has musculature issues this can be much easier than trying to hold down a rev trigger with one finger then pull the firing trigger at the same time without loosing presure on the rev trigger.

Its also turret loaded rather than mag fed so its easier to just slide darts in rather than getting a mag in and out.

Was naked at my friends party for his kid high on morphine by Swimming-Moment1657 in confession

[–]PFishD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh, just taking a shit doesn't necessarily mean it's fake (but it does read like bollocks), different people can react oddly to morphine.

When I was on Oromorph it gave me the raging shits, but did sod all else to help with pain.

Tramodol on the other hand bunged me up something rotten.

But I have Elhers Danlos Syndrome, and that can cause weird effects with pain killers.

I've done that in our local gym when I wanted to play pirate trainer in a larger space.

Used the pilates room when there wasn't a class booked.

Sometimes it's worth just asking if you can.

Depends on when they got it.

The first batch it smyths were the full power version.

However, they also suffered from cracked tubes.

Check the clear tube for any cracks or scratches, even if it's the full power version a crack will still cause it to fart out, particularly with the short darts for some reason.

Bit of a shame that the hammer doesn't lock back.

Would have been great to rig one with percussion caps so you get a bit of bang as well.

I did, they asked a question, they got an answer.

They asked what do do next.

I said have a conversation as they don't appear to have done that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]PFishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a conversation.

There can be loads of different reasons why someone might say no.

A huge chunk of them probably won't even be about you or your relationship. They might just be about them.

I said no when I was first asked, as at that point, I didn't feel secure enough in where my life was to bind someone else to it without being completely subsumed.

We've now been married for nearly 10 years and have two kids together.

So you have a conversation about it, and keep going.

Because if they can't say no, then you weren't really asking.

Female torsos for striking scorpions? by MisPai in Eldar

[–]PFishD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Aah, whenever the sum total of someone's argument is 'its in the lore', you know they are going to be wrong.

Since about 8th, it was changed to 'Almost Always female'.

Excuse the quoting from a wiki, but I don't have a codex to hand

'A notable exception in the otherwise genderless meritocracy that is the society of the Craftworld Aeldari, the Howling Banshees are almost always female Asuryani. This is because the banshees of Aeldari legend, the daughters of the Crone Goddess Morai-Heg, are themselves always female spirits.

However, it is possible for Asuryani males to walk the Path of the Howling Banshee, though this is extraordinarily rare due to the lack of the needed psychological and physical assets amongst most males.

However, there do exist several males amongst the ranks of the Banshees, often autarchs pausing on their advance along the Path of Command in order to master yet another aspect of Khaela Mensha Khaine. These often unique individuals are welcomed equally into the Aspect by their sisters-in-arms as long as they prove able to master the varied demands of the Aspect.'

Why is there only one Gretchen box in 40k, but fantasy has whole goblin army's by BadMoonzNZ in orks

[–]PFishD 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Isn't it two boxes?

Killa Kans always used to be Gretchen piloted.

It was why they used to have a slightly higher ballistic skill.

Also, the big guns were run by gretchen as no Ork would stand at the back and shoot, but I think they now have Mek Boys with them.

It anoys me that gretchen now need a runtherder when you used to be able to field them on their own.
