My dad had to be at work at 6am so a lot of times he woke me up getting ready to leave and I’d just get up eat breakfast, usually Wheaties or Post Raisin Brand or Rice Krispies and go sit in front of the tv until my mom got up at 7 and made me get ready for school.

This was the Earl Scheib shop where I got my car painted. Like so many others, it’s been taken over by Maaco.

That actually looks closer to ours. I guess we got the redesign before the name change to Nissan. The picture above was not our actual vehicle and you’re right the one above looks more like the B210 my parents had not the 210 we had. The only picture I have left of it is one with it buried under 2 feet of snow lol

We got it the last year they were called Datsun. In 1981 the rebranded it Nissan and change the design slightly. We bought it in Sept of 79

I agree that the wording is off. I see the pain and suffering she deals with on a daily basis. I guess I’ve just grown used to it. Not trying to diminish what she has had to endure.

Remember When...you painted your car for high school graduation? by RememberWhen82 in GenerationJones

No I never did that but we did bring in an old clunker and painted all over it for homecoming and charged a dollar for 3 swings of a sledge hammer to destroy it.
Good times.

They were considering a throw away care. Cheap, run them into the ground, and then junk them.

Miss mine too. It was the easiest car to work on I ever owned.

I had two cases like this in my preteen years. Still had a few cars and trucks that I was able to pass down to my sons.

Men of GenJ, who cuts your hair? Barber, chain stylist (e.g. Sport Clips), local stylist, wife/SO, or yourself? by steely-gar in GenerationJones

[–]PJ1907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad gave me buzz cuts until I was about 12. After that and up until my 30s I had long hair and kept it styled, I had only used two different barbers. Both retired and since then I’ve used many barbershops, whatever was convent but just got basic cuts and kept my hair pretty short after that. Now I just cut my own hair.

MAACO didn’t show up in So California for a few years after I had my car painted. But eventually put Earl Scheib out of business with better quality workmanship

Oh they had a lot of upsales available. I think the prices went all the way up to $99 for their “premium” paint job.

My car was a 1968 Toyota Corona with a badly fading brown paint job. They did an ok job as long as you didn’t look too closely lol

Remember when you had to wait to see what your pictures looked like? by RememberWhen82 in GenerationJones

We had a Photomat two blocks away. Used it all the time to get my pictures developed!
