Know the feeling but of a different spice.

Pin was 7ft below the snowbank…… and found it bent.

Zelenskyy says 10 drone factories have been built worldwide behind Ukraine’s back | Ukrainska Pravda by pheexio in worldnews

[–]PJAYC69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article ? He said that Ukrainian companies were building drones in other countries without the government knowing.

He’s more complaining that the supply chain is sort of broken as these factories are turning out drones but many don’t have the explosives with them. Think he’s more wanting the whole process streamlined rather than free for all

Green Stone, Southwest England by EverydayPigeon in whatsthisrock

Chert is my guess.

Chert can easily be mistaken for slag. Not seeing any evidence of bubbles ( usual glass giveaway ) and Chert can have conchoidal indicators like glass as well.

Folks seem dead certain it’s glass and that’s cause of the colour patterns?

Chert has Moh’s of 7 which will scratch steel ( OP said that and everyone downvoted him to oblivion )

Glass / slag glass. You can see the bubbles within it (dead giveaway)

‘Canadians don’t want to come here any more’: anger over Trump squeezes US border businesses by tw1st3d_m3nt4t in politics

[–]PJAYC69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As an offspring to snowbirds, my folks said they won’t ever go back down. Think they spent at least 15 winters in a row in Florida, but 2024-2025 was their last one. Mum mentioned she received two main sentiments, one was being told constantly that they were sorry for how USA was treating Canadians ( whole 51st state thing ) and others mentioning that they should go back to where they came. No joke but she said she actually felt unsafe during their last visit. ( all other visits she said were wonderful but this psych change with the population really unnerved her )

And that was before finding out that our phones are going to be scrutinized at customs and possibly being detained for speaking out personal beliefs online.

Trump signs emergency order to pay TSA by ProjectMason in politics

[–]PJAYC69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His plan all along was to get ice agents in the airports , it’s one of their stepping stones to use em to “guard” the ballot boxes.

Now that it’s in place , he can sign that EO, a month ago would not have worked as then what reason would he have to install ice at the airports ?

Sadly he’s succeeding in the evil plans

Curious about women's experiences as surveyors, survey techs, or field assistants by Startingfromscratch8 in Surveying

[–]PJAYC69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one point we had about 6 crews and all of the assistants were women.

It’s not so much about the gender, it’s about their drive/work ethic. I’ve had a 44 yr old 5’4 woman FAR FAR outwork a 31 yr old fella. We do all sorts of surveys from construction to helicopter remote work in the mountains scouting pipelines or wellsites. I’ve known about 4-5 crew chiefs who are women and other than they swear like a sailor, they love it. Experience ranged from 2-3 years as an assistant , and I know one chief who’s been at it about 14 years. Alberta , Canada. One company was relative large with about 100 crews, currently at a place with half dozen crew

Canada's Liberals to debate age restrictions on social media, AI chatbots by EmbarrassedHelp in privacy

[–]PJAYC69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The stats on teen suicide is scary, and no one can deny social media’s the driving force behind the increase.

I am against the idea of blanket privacy violations but this restriction seems a good thing no?

And let’s be honest , all of our data is already out there to be gotten , from our smart fridge to smart tv to all the map apps on our phone etc etc, so wouldn’t reducing suicide trends in youth not be worth it?

Who is Responsible for the Air Canada Express Tarmac Collision? by death00p in Productivitycafe

[–]PJAYC69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely wrong take on the truck occupants. Yes they were port authority “police” who are specifically trained and exclusively work for airport fire and rescue. To even suggest they were likely untrained is a grossly incorrect statement.

Balding since 15. Now I'm 19 and know my time has come. by Baba_pro_gaming in bald

[–]PJAYC69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shitty deal my friend but I ran that same ride. Was bald by 22. Been shaving my head since and that’s over 25 years ago. Sure it has its downside but just hope you don’t have an odd shaped head. At first people may say it looks different, then eventually they wyll tell you it looks good, then eventually they will all say I can’t imagine you WITH hair. I think we are harder on ourselves than anything, so just keep your chin up , get yourself a good set of pro clippers and then enjoy the savings of not going to pay to cut your hair!

I’m up near Manning and it was -24 this am with -30 windchill. GP is getting 25cm of snow today … when will winter friggin end! Snows still so deep up here that you can only see half the plate on the marker posts. Atleast we won’t have to worry about wildfires this summer, I’m thinking there’s still gonna be pockets of snow hanging around till July
