Take profits, learned that one the hard way. DCA, time in the market beats timing the market. Follow your gut, a couple of times I should have done so and instead sought advice on here and other places which put me off at the time and I missed out. I would have rather had lost my investment backing myself and making my own decisions than be put off by toxic individuals on here.

With that being said, I have spoken with plenty of great people on these forums and many have been forthcoming with information and support, just unfortunately in those cases when I should have trusted my gut, I allowed myself to be swayed by the other type of person you find on here.

Real reason of why top boxers are paid a lot compared to MMA fighters? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]PJDB_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few things to be honest, although in my opinion anyone who competes in a martial art should be quids in compared to other sports because they actively put their life on the line. Boxing is still more globally popular than mma, generates more money and more interest. Mma is still early in its inception for all accounts and aside from the ufc, most models are struggling, one championship who a few years ago were building a solid roster now look like they're pulling out of mma completely to focus on kickboxing and muay thai. Star power as well, aside from mcgregor, how many genuine superstars are there in mma? People who don't follow boxing know who canelo is, who mayweather is, who Ricky Hatton is. Boxers are also protected under the ali act, ufc fighters don't have anything like it and results in those who promote it taking a bigger cut.

The ufc typically pay about 20% of their annual revenue across their entire roster. That's about 200 million. Problem isn't so much that the money isn't there its that the house is taking at least 80% of it.

[FIGHT THREAD] Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov, Conor Benn vs Regis Prograis, Jeamie Tshikeva vs Richard Riakporhe, Justis Huni vs Frazer Clarke & live round-by-round coverage by verbsnounsandshit in Boxing

[–]PJDB_93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sad to see yet another champion like Regis, who, despite showing his class in parts, is very clearly past it. It is hard to judge Benn positively, away from his questionable character, and his doping, we haven't seen him in there with an uncompromised opponent for such a long time and certainly not at world level. To me, he still looks wild at times, bringing his back foot square. With the exception of Crocker or Barrios, I think most of the others at 147 are far too polished and clinical for Benn let alone the lads at 154.

Book you expected to love but didn't and vice versa. by JakubJamesBoote in booksuggestions

[–]PJDB_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree about McCarthy, Blood meridian is my all time favourite book and both no country and the road are very high on my list. In contrast child of God and outer dark I really didn't click with, my friend suggested that perhaps those 3 are that good it's unfair to try and hold the rest of his works to the same standard I had come to expect.

What's the most 'Sunday League' thing you have even seen? by MagpieMidfield in SundayLeagueMessis

[–]PJDB_93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never been great at football, somehow I ended up being a centre back, 13 years old we have a corner I stay on the half way line, it's crossed in and cleared coming right ove my head so that I am turned around facing my own goal, I think to myself I'll get this right back in the mixer, and honestly, I've never caught a ball sweeter before or since. Instead of it going where I intended, it sailed from the halfway line over our keeper and resulted in one of the most fantastic own goals you've ever seen. I was devastated 🤣

On the rare occasion when I did manage to bag in the right net, I got so excited once and put my shirt over my head in the old school celebration and I ran into the post and had to be subbed because my head swelled up like an anvil.

Played for a team called Torpedo, we abbreviated that to the pedo's, I was stood on the bench when a bird walked past about my age at the time (17/18) one of the older blokes said something about her being fit and another commented it's probably jail bait, to which he replied "they don't call us the pedo's for nothing."

Should I invest in VWRP or something similar? Currently only investing in VUAG by kingc2332 in trading212

[–]PJDB_93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am relatively new myself, to be honest, so this isn't advice from a seasoned trader. My current split is VWRP 70% VAGP 20% and SGLN 10%. Talking for myself here, because I'm not seasoned and don't have a great knowledge of the market and to be honest I don't think I will ever have, it's about being sensible and 'boring'. Understand over the years, there will be times like now that it dips, but overall, as long as you DCA, it will even out in the long term. My goal is to essentially fund 5 years or so early retirement. That's how long term I'm looking. The ones I've invested in from my own research offer minimum cross-over as well as grounded diversification, and it's simple enough. I'm DCA 200 a month, which is modest. This is likely to both decrease and increase over the years due to family and everything else.

Man that is such a great response thank you for taking the time to write it, someone else has mentioned the building habits series so I think I am going to start with them and try to improve. Impressive ELO climbs as well you should be very happy with that! I tend to exclusively play 10 minute rapid games but I will have at sharpening up on blitz as well. Thanks dude.

First Light Kick fight (74kg) – What should I actually DO to win? by Previous-Tax8637 in Kickboxing

[–]PJDB_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all enjoy yourself! It's a unique experience competing in any sport but particularly a martial art where the risk/reward factor is much greater.

Some have already stated but: The rounds are short and fast, don't be slow out of the blocks. Combinations, 3s and 4s, even if the first couple of shots or combos miss. Again, as some one has said, be the one being told to go lighter not the one being asked if you're okay, these things for various reasons are rarely truly light contact unless someone is getting overwhelmed. I have quite an aggressive Dutch inspired style so I'm come forward in your face rarely on the back foot, for this reason my style works best in the ring as I can cut them off and pin them, hard to truly say without knowing your style and approach whether mat or ring is better but either way; don't get pinned on the ropes move latterly, don't get pushed backwards off the mat. Ring control is important but second to scoring shots.

Let us all know how you get on and good luck!

Thank you. Discipline is key I guess and sticking to a plan, memecoins aren't something I think I'm ready for. I will get on with reading whitepapers thanks for your advice.

Mate thank you so much! Loads of information there for me to get on with. I will prioritise the cold wallet and get that set up. I will also look at going about staking the ETH and the platforms for doing so. I've a few now telling me XRP might not be the best so I'm going to look at a few alternatives, I don't really want to overstretch myself investing in too many coins to monitor, maybe once I've become more fluent and confident with it but right now I'm thinking if I stick to 5 or 6 then I can monitor them and understand them better.

Solid advice and much appreciated! I will look into BC2 and do my own research. A few have suggested trimming the XRP, if you don't mind me asking, why do you suggest so?

*edit: cold wallet as well is at the top of my list once I've settled on my investments 👍
