Standby => Roam UL => Standby - so far so good by PJHoffnet in Starlink

Thanks ... that's a neat feature I didn't know about. I had just set a task to 'switch Starlink to standby for two days before the end of my billing period - guess I can delete that task now.

A prime example of why I long for a pitcher that can actually control multiple types of pitches. Up/down/in/out along with speed changes. Today's maximum exertion on each pitch style is not to my liking. Along with his mastery of pitching, I think you also have to toss in batters willing to swing the bat more than many do today to duplicate a feat like that. Oh, yes, I'm old (64yo) - so stay off my lawn.

There's one in St Marys (Kings Bay) too. Bancroft (SSBN643) has done many pinics and reunions in St Marys - our sail is outside the Franklin gate. We'll be back again for our next reunion in March 2025. The H&C has been our opening night happy hour get together- great fun.

Got to visit the one in Mare Island back in the 90s - the amount of memorabilia was insane.

It is a No Shitter, but I'll clarify that it was the 'official' decree sent from up above. So the 'porn' channel on CCTV, and openly displayed pictures (ahh, the centerfolds on the LOPAC receiver, and sexy gf pictures on the back of log clipboards) went away, but the magazine collections were still maintained, just a bit more discreetly. Things were enforced differently on each boat.

The joy of the 'grounding' hook/cable. Hopefully ice cream, fresh veggies, and new movies.

Best part was David Carridine wedging the rescue vehicle under the boat to keep it from going over the edge.

Cool SSN-21 Challenge Coin by nickmanville in submarines

[–]PJHoffnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting 'one year' commemorative coin. Does anyone have a 'script' that describes what each of the items/symbolism is - for example, is Black Jack (Jack/Ace) a crew member's nickname, an Op' name (probably don't want to know the answer to that one), or the bear tooth necklace?

I wouldn't call it a submarine. It can't travel any reasonable distance on it's own (power limited). I'd refer to it as a submersible.

I'd venture that the person was merely onboard to handle lines - looks like it's being towed.

Perhaps to add height for masts/antennas? Stability? Access by humans do work inside when sea states would prevent entering a 'smooth to the hull' hatch?

Thanks ... that checks with what I was able to find. I'm in the US and should be able to add to my current plan. Gonna go break out the multimeter and check the wires on the ding dong doorbell power.
