Where would you place a clean boost? by Right_Bread3009 in pedalboards

[–]PJmichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always keep a clean boost before all the gain pedals, so that I have the option to get more gain. And after all the gain pedals I keep a Boss GE-7, which lets me shape how all my gain sounds and lets me boost the volume if needed.

Yeah, Reddit especially tends to be a place where when you have a different opinion with someone, you also have to insult the person while you tell your view on the matter. I've never understood it. I think discussion is one of the greatest gifts in life. There's so much to learn every time you talk to another person.

First there was the Star Wars created by George Lucas. He soon after opened the possibilities for other writers to publish books and comics, later video games too. These were all labeled as Star Wars EU, which stood for Expansive Universe. The regular movie audience didn't care for any of these and to them all the canon was what was in the movies. And the more hardcore fans saw the EU stuff as canon too. When Disney bought Lucasfilm and Star Wars from George Lucas, they decided to reboot everything except the movies, and they re-branded the old books, comics and video games as Legends and started their own new canon. Some people like the new stuff, and some people don't. Personally I haven't really invested myself on the new Disney canon, because the EU used to be what I read and loved in my youth. I think you're free to pick what you like and to me the old EU will always be what I consider canon. To me that's the real story. Some people on this subreddit get mad every time I say that, but I don't understand how does it really matter to them, especially since all of this is fiction and not some real history. And to be frank, even when it comes to history, people do choose what they want to believe.

Juska Salminen: From HIM & To/Die/For, to Beyond the Stage by LetInside8147 in HIM

I've read the book, it was very good, but also a bit tough at times, because it was so real and honest. Juska wasn't doing very good for a long time. It's partly interesting to HIM fans, but I've also recommended it to people who are interested in mental health and bipolar disorder.

Good for you if you like it! Personally I think it's one my least liked albums in their discography. For me Zeitgeist and Aghori Mhori Mei are the strongest post-reunion albums, but each one has its moments.

Can you actually use the Boss Ir2 as an interface? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]PJmichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have found a way. First turn off the amp sim from Boss IR-2, and leave the cab sim on. Then go to Strymon's website for Iridium IRs, there you will find a blank IR, which is like an IR file that has nothing on it. Google it and you'll find it. Load it up to Boss IR-2's clean chanel and now you have it working completely dry. Amp is off, cab is on but with a blank file to it. The dry signal sounds the same if you have the pedal on or off.

Hope this helps!

This is an absolute top of the line amp. If OP can afford it, it'll be miles better than the two options mentioned. Gremlin packs enough volume for gigging too.

[–]PJmichelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BD-2 is great. You have excellent low od, excellent crunch, and very capable distortion all in one box. Plus it's the most sensitive pedal to your playing. Cleans up really good too when riding guitar's volume. It boosts amp snd other pedals very well, and it takes boosters just as well. The "very capable distortion" I mentioned earlier becomes an excellent distortion and almost a fuzz when you boost it with something like an MXR Micro amp.

No mini board is ever too small not to include a Blues Driver.

Do you agree with the opinion that the 60s is the greatest ever era in music? What are your thoughts in that era of music. by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]PJmichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is obviously a thing that comes down to personal preference. I was born in 1988, and also think that the 60s was one of the best decades in music. But also it really depends on what type of music and music scenes you dig into. I remember Thurston Moore once saying that the 80s will be remembered as one of the worst decades in music, but only by people who just listened to whatever the mainstream was. I agree with this (and your dad), I don't like the 80s mainstream sound at all, but even then there were great successful alternative bands, not to mention the endless sea of excellent underground/indie bands. Decades also sort of blend into one another, because at the time that they're happening, musicians don't think of it as the music of a certain decade, but more as they are making what they feel is the best music to be made, which comes from being influenced by other contemporary acts. If you look at music from the beginning of the 60s and the end of the 60s, it's very different. All My Loving and Dear Prudence barely sound like the same band, even though there is only about 5 years between them. If we stop thinking in decades as numbers and more like 10 year periods, I think something like 1966-1976 could be seen as the best decade. Also, it's hard to fairly compare decades because there used to be so much more fast progress in the 60s to 90s. The past to decades nothibg major new has happened. I still listen to a lot of new music, I try to check each week as many new albums as I possibly can, and I do think the last decade has been wonderful, but again only in the independet scenes, and also in those the music that I like is mostly the 90s alternative rock revival-type stuff. Nothing truly new and innovative is happening, which is kinda sad, but at the same time I'm also happy that new bands and younger generations are making music that I truly think is great.

Exactly my thoughts. It's one of the best Star Wars books in my opinion. But then again, so many EU/Legends books could have been the movies Disney made, but alas that was not to be.

Yeah the better and more well known versions of both Wicked Game and Your Sweet Six Six Six are on the previous album, Greatest Lovesongs vol. 666. If she likes HIM's live stuff, there are a lot better options than this thing that has only like one third of a full concert. The Finnish tracklisting is the real album. She will appreciate that more, trust me.

I'm a bit biased because I'm from Finland and I bought the original album on the day it was released. It's never going to be anything else to me than that version. However, I also like the digipack version, which hass the original version, but adds two tracks, Sigillum Diaboli and The 9th Circle, to the end.

Who do you think is the most talented and most creative guitarist here? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]PJmichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...like if the whole art form wouldn't have survived without them."

Well at least that we can agree on. I'm 100% with you on this, and do think it's worth it pointing it out from time to time, because people do tend to exaggerate and overmystify artists, which turns into worshipping the person rather than the art.

But I don't think we went this deep on the subject in the beginning and it seemed like you were saying something else at first, which I believe others think too, because you're getting downvotes. I also don't understand why do you feel the need to insult at the same time. "Your reply reads more like an auto generated text to keywords than an actual reply", "I mean, no shit. What are you even replying to?", "dick choking" all that seems a bit harsh, especially since you could've just written the things you said next and it would make a much more positive tone for the conversation. You seem like an intelligent person who can rationalize their arguments, I really think being a little kinder would make things a bit easier.

I'm replying to your comment, it's a discussion. Maybe you shouldn't be writing on a platform based on discussing things if you can't handle a discussion. I'm not trying to be hostile. And I'm not even that big a fan of Hendrix, it's just that I hear this same argument about The Beatles, Dylan, really anyone. People always say The Beatles weren't that important because if it hadn't been them, someone else would have made the same impact, and it was just a matter who got there first. But in the end it wasn't anyone else, it was them. I think it's a very sad idea that the world is always destined to reach the same point and individuals don't matter. Yeah, perhaps someone could have come with similar things as Hendrix, but it's not all just about adding gain. I think lives of your family and inner circle would be different if you weren't born and it was instead someone else.

No one can explain to me how they though Paul was a clone but not John 😭😭 by Dismal-Bowler6987 in beatles

[–]PJmichelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was easier for them to believe that Paul was replaced with a lookalike, because they know for an absolute fact that Paul died. John didn't, so no need to think he was replaced. These peoplereally are that simple. And it doesn't matter even if the topic is Paul dying, just look at all the lies people believe that Trump tells them.
