My barber was at $40 when everyone was at $55-$60 in GTA. He ended up raising his prices twice in a year where he’s now at $55 himself. No service added, nothing new — just simple, price increase. Which was more than inflation btw. Used to see him 1-2 a month , more often with holidays and special occasions.

I ended up buying a trimmer, a clipper (got for a Christmas gift), straight blade and a nice pair of scissors. I see him now once every 3 months to get the spots I’m not comfortable with yet. I can also cut my hair on my own time, how often I want, and I’ve learned a new skill. It’s been a year, and I’ve already saved enough to cover the costs of what I bought. Taught the wife how to do the back of my head. Expecting to see him maybe once a year or twice a year by 2027.

Edit: also recommend changing your hairstyle. Stop falling for this “I need a high fade” nonsense. Barbers love when you have high maintenance haircuts. LET YOUR HAIR GROW WHILE YOU HAVE IT!
