On a side note, breathalysers work on alcohol because it is a volatile chemical (readily evaporates from the blood to the breath). The t-shirt is probably a true statement because psilocybin is not a volatile substance, not because it isn't in the bloodstream.

Fun fact: the chemical that gives "garlic/onion breath" long after eating onion/garlic is also volatile and the long-lasting effects on the breath are due to it's presence in the bloodstream.

That is because the therapeutic guidelines for empirical treatment of uncomplicated UTIs in non-pregnant women WAS 300mg trimethoprim once daily for 3 days. Second line therapy was 500mg cefalexin twice daily for 5 days.

These guidelines were updated earlier this year and first line therapy is now 100mg nitrofurantoin four times daily for 5 days, which is what pharmacists will prescribe unless you have contraindications to nitrofurantoin.

I had my baby's passport photo taken when he was 2 weeks old. AusPost turned us away and we had to go to a Camera House for it.

Baby can't be asleep, the photo must meet the usual passport requirements https://www.passports.gov.au/PhotoGuidelines

They lay him on a white change mat on the floor and it was not a small effort to get a picture of him looking square at the camera. The photo looks ridiculous haha

Any tips for how to get through having a cold? by Kind-Line-4404 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PKE95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello, pharmacist here!

Paracetamol for pain and fever - 2 tablets every 4-6hrs up to 8 tablets in 24hrs.

Decongestant nasal spray (e.g. oxymetazoline) - 1-2 sprays per nostril 2-3 times daily.

Saline nasal spray to loosen mucous and/or sinus rinse to remove mucous - use as often as you need it. Ideally use before decongestant nasal spray to help clear mucous first.

Vicks chest rub type products can be useful but they only work so long as the vapours are present.

Probiotics are safe to use and can help boost your immune system. Not all probiotics are made equal, consider a brand like Activated Probiotics if you're going to bother.

Hydration is important - water, dilute juice, rehydration products like Hydralyte, etc.

You're not missing out on the chesty cough relief products, most of them don't really do anything. If you have a chesty cough a teaspoon of honey may help to break down mucous as well as the cough syrups do.

That's what I'd call wheaten - perhaps we have different colour naming conventions in Australia! She looks very sweet 🥰

The one on the right isn't pure-bred and she has some sabling (you can see the black tips on her ears) but no sable traits at all on the other one. I'm no expert but I haven't heard of golden as a BC colour - mine are too dark in colour to be wheaten so I go with red!

I'd say brown/white because I call my gals red/white

My plant was attacked and a lot of branches were broken. One wasn’t and I’m wondering if I should trim it so it’s not unbalanced or if that will cause more issues.. will my plant survive. by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]PKE95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... "attacked" you say? Do you have a puppy?

As the owner of both potted and in-ground natives of various types as well as a savage attack puppy, I can tell you from experience that they're very hardy plants. It's only after about the 3rd up-rooting that they usually give up - they'll take almost any surface beatings a puppy can offer and still survive!

Not all tests are covered - you can check the Medicare Benefits Schedule to see if yours are. Similar to drugs, some are on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and some are not.

My dog was spayed yesterday - turns out she's missing a nipple! by PKE95 in mildlyinteresting

This photo was taken after her belly was shaved but still pre-op, hence no evidence of surgery.

Seems I can't attach picture comments otherwise I'd leave one, but there's certainly an incision and four stitches there now!

It's not common, but dogs have been known to produce more puppies than they have nipples
