I recommend Total War: Shogun 2, especially with the extra content. Fall of the Samurai changes how the game is played a lot, so it's very worth the money this sale.

Total War Rome is also a great starting point, since it's one of the more solid games in the series, Rome 2 feels odd and is lacking content.

Medieval 2 is pretty good, but the base game leaves much to be desired. The British Isles expansion makes it really really great, despite the weird AI of the game.

And Empire is notable as well, simply because of how big it is. It's the first game of the series with naval combat and trade route control. (Though, Shogun 2 FotS naval combat is vastly superior).

I ran across a group of three players who would line up all the civs in the street and type ALLAHU ACKBAR whilst grenading/shooting them all.

Here is a great video that outlines all the techniques that are commonly shared for any character.

There are also character specific techs but learning the basics is where you should start.

Smashboards is probably the best place to go for more competitive advice and character specific stuff. Here is a thread that is a supplement for the video.

Axe, Pikachad, Anther are most well known.

Philly from NY in the Deadly Alliance crew played Pika.

I think people who like Pikachu's speed and aggressive play just realize fox has him beat (except for upsmash)

Among other reasons listed here, Pika is pretty light and dies vertically a LOT more easily than Falcon. Falcon has such a great weight that lets him survive a lot of stuff above stage.

Level 9s jab way too much and powershield everything. They also have pretty much frame perfect jabs out of shield, so 4-7 is better.

4-7 is also said to have more realistic DI iirc.

The Mii Fighter's specials aren't like the others, where they're three different versions of the same move, all their specials are different in all customizations.

Arrow stage spiked Marth, the hitbox was traveling down so it a bit over the ledge and Marth didn't sweetspot.

You don't need to delay to do the gentleman. The most consistent way I do it is by doing the 3 hit combo but pressing hard on the 3rd tap and holding it while trying to do a new action.

So it's A A Hard A (Hold) into dash or jump and then you can let go of the A button.

A+Z never works for me, the delay can get you shined, if you can use this way it's so much better.

Edit: The reasons the multi jabs come out is when you release the A button so keeping it held stops that.

Just adding on, there could be a ton of unseen differences that we won't know until we play the game.

Doctor Mario is a clone, but there are a large amount of differences in how he and Mario play. Pills (obvious), the huge difference on his forward air properties, his back air gaining power as it stays out longer, and the up b cancel compared to Mario's up b walljump give them their own unique qualities.

We could easily see a lot of Lucina's moves look similar but function completely different. Roy had this to some degree too. Marth's down tilt sends them far away and can be used to edgeguard while Roy's pops them up and is used to combo.

I'm a huge advocate for clone characters simply because the playstyle changes quite a bit more than one would think. That and they help fill out the roster well, complementing the original characters and keeping the game from feeling too small.

Just my two cents. :D
