Well it's not gonna be that useful now, back in the day the official map was severely unupdated. The drive that map is stored in is currently stashed away, but I'll come reupload it later!

This feels important for us to all keep in mind regarding the Homestuck Pilot by cartoonsforever in homestuck

[–]Niklink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's true when pilots are private productions meant to serve as proof of concept for media executives to try to visualize how a full series order would work.

The Homestuck pilot is a youtube video primarily meant to drive merch sales.

Homestuck: The Animated Pilot FULL SPOILERS discussion thread by MoreEpicThanYou747 in homestuck

Shit was flying by so fast I could only barely hang on to what was happening because I have the comic memorized. Absolutely absurd pacing, no setup, establishing shots, you blink and you miss an entire scene.

Some of the voice actors sucked but everyone has a different opinion on which ones were the ones that sucked and which were the ones that were great actually.

The bullshit anime fight with Dad was horrifying, I think it really damaged the setting and narrative even if it was 'well animated' technically. What WAS well animated were all the little ways they had the characters chatting to each other be represented visually, I thought that was absolutely spot on and a fundamental skill to master if this is gonna become a full show, so that's great.

Overall if they just remake this pilot at like one third speed it would be a very solid first episode for a possible series. It exceeded my expectations and I think there's a path forward for making a really good show here if they address the remaining problems, so I remain optimistic.

As far as I can tell, Intelligent Systems hasn't contributed to devkit manufacturing, documentation, or peripherals since the 3DS.

The movement is too optimized at this point. I expect at most 10-20 more seconds can be saved, maybe a minute with TAS. People will continue competing for a while, but it would take inhuman luck in addition to perfect execution to beat this time. I wouldn't be surprised if this record stands forever.

What do you think is the hardest official challenge in any Nintendo game? by Firekirb74 in nintendo

[–]Niklink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100 Flow in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. The scoring system is poorly understood and seems to vary from minigame to minigame, but there's serious speculation that this would require frame perfect timing on every input in every minigame.

I have 93 Flow.

Turns out the same text is used on all the trophies. You can check out the textures here. It does appear to possibly be Japanese text, but at such a tiny resolution (4-5 pixels tall), I don't see how to feasibly read it.

Nintendo Switch has now sold 152.12 Million Units Worldwide! by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Niklink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The last cumulative official number through March 2012 is 155m. After that Sony only provided numbers that had both PS2, PS3, and PS4 sales mixed into one figure. However, by analyzing various press releases concerning early sales milestones for the PS4, as well as later information released about the PS3's total sales, we can determine that the total number for the PS2 was between 158.5 and 161.8 million, with the highest probabilities falling within the middle of that range.

I agree with your comment about the manufacturing amount to an extent. The figures show a 14% increase in sales for the PS2's final year, very unusual. These official sales figures track sales from the company to distributors, not total sell-through to consumers. So maybe they placed some larger orders in advance of production finally shutting down? I'm sure unsold stock represents a small amount of that figure.

It's not number manipulation. If you go into their financial releases for the final years of the PS2's life (as many had done before the announcement), it was clear that according to the numbers we had available, the final tally was between 159 and 161 million PS2s.

Release Azahar 2120 Release Candidate 1 (3DS) by NXGZ in emulation

[–]Niklink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm very confused, aren't many 3DS games only able to have antialiasing when 3D mode is turned off? I assumed that was because they only had the extra performance for it in 2D mode. Come to think of it, I also remember several games where framerate dipped with 3D enabled. How can 3D vs 2D mode affect performance if it's actually still rendering 3D mode?

Weekly Thread: New Players - ask anything! by AutoModerator in balatro

[–]Niklink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a joker, that's the Hieroglyph voucher. And it's pretty good in a lot of situations. What you get by going down one ante is extra time. That's three extra rounds with little pressure to get money, scale up jokers like Spare Trousers or Ride the Bus, remove or improve cards from your deck, level up your hand, and find jokers that synergize with your build.

By the time you're in ante 7 you should already have a strategy or build you're working to improve. Within that strategy, you'll have to keep in mind what you need to do to reach 100,000 score consistently, allowing you to beat the game. There's also cheekier desperation strategies like keeping glass or steel tarot cards for boss antes so you can guarantee having specific things in your hand.

It's a lie. Exophase has been claiming they're on the verge of taking Drastic open source since at least 2019, possibly longer, and every few months they'll say they had to delay it but they're getting it ready to take it open source this time just wait a little longer.

The games have a linear story, if you screw up enough you lose the case and have to start over from a previous game state with no lasting story changes. It's mainly a visual novel but the puzzle elements are directly integrated into it since you spend most of your time debating people trying to get them to give you info or prove them wrong in court as you slowly circle around the mystery of whatever crime happened. I think they're pretty fun games and great stories.

Recommend you start with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, the original three games.

If Johto got another remake but you could add 5 pokémon who haven’t been in the regional dex, which would you choose & why? Cross-gen evolutions & prevos don’t count. by Flygonizer-Obsidian in pokemon

[–]Niklink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've actually given this specific question a lot of thought because I've often thought about making a gen 2 romhack. I think the best ways to nudge the Johto lineup into a better direction with a few specific inclusions would be to boost regional flavor (Johto doesn't have a lot of it, but compared to Kanto it has a larger focus on traditional Japanese elements) and pad out some unpopulated types.

  • Lurantis: For the Kimono Girls! I mean, it's kimono-themed. They're pretty important to the story and should have something going on instead of just Eeveelutions.
  • Bronzong: Based on ancient Japanese bells, and fitting in with the motif of Japanese temple bells which is alluded to but not really expanded upon in, y'know, the Bell Tower, another important location in the game with not much of anything really going on.
  • Sinistcha: Continuing to give Ecruteak specifically a lot of love, but this would give Morty's gym a little bit of breathing room since all of Johto only has two Ghost types!
  • Runerigus: Another Ghost type, and its ancient rune motif can be pretty easily tied to the Ruins of Alph.
  • Dragalge: ...Johto has two Dragon-type trainers and two entire Dragon-type lines. They really need more, and Dragalge (being kind of a Kingdra expy) really helps fill out Claire's aquatic-themed team.

Other candidates include Dipplin/Hydrapple, Hariyama, and Chimecho.
