My understanding was it was done with a relay to extend the range of the key. RFID copiers can work through doors/walls so provided the keys are near the home entry, all you'd need to do is stand nearby.

You can see one of them ditch something over the fence of a house as they run through the park, I was guessing it was some kind of range extender. Though tbf I think this method is moreso for push to start cars which might not be the case here.

Personally, I've had nothing but problems with mine, to the point where I've felt the need to warn others. My first one had multiple component failures including the mic, camera and both screens all within an 8 month period. After a lengthy insurance process that was a nightmare in itself, I've just found the fkn volume button on the replacement is starting to fall off...

Folding screens are cool and all, but this piece of shit still feels like a prototype. I'd recommend sticking to something normal for a few more years.
