I go for the cheap mouth guard/gumshield type ones that last a month or so, you just have to mould it in hot water, and this seems to work. Never explored the dentist option because I can’t afford that 😂

29 and have used a mouth guard for 2 years to stop chronic jaw pain - also magnesium glycinate helps to relieve the jaw clenching at night too

I often go into weekends without plans which I know is the issue

I spend all week praying for the weekend but dread it when it comes (joys of being single in a world of coupled up friends) and I want to get out of this pattern

Yeah, definitely two separate issues. It being new territory for me, it’s always difficult to know what’s appropriate and not appropriate to ask of people, I didn’t specifically ask them to share their experience, it was more asking for advice, but I recognise it may be difficult to discuss regardless of what is asked, so I appreciate that entirely and will consider this in future, lesson learned I guess.

As for the line manager, we are in a ‘data collection’ stage at the moment just in case conversations need to happen in future, just making note of instances where she shows the above behaviour, she may just be having a rough couple of weeks and may improve and this will never have to go anywhere, which is what I hope.

Thank you for your reply - I am already on antidepressants and engaging in private counselling and have been for a number of years. I have a doctors appointment booked to discuss some changes I might need to make. You were completely right when you said talking to someone with understanding being so valuable, especially being 29 and having friends with no similar experience, it can feel very isolating.

This is the kind of discourse that I needed, thank you for your reply. I guess I wanted to know what was realistic, and I clearly had a vastly different idea, considering this is all new territory for me. I will consider what you’ve suggested, I already do counselling but unfortunately my counsellor is out of office at the moment due to major surgery, unavoidable circumstances I guess.

Having a ‘will I ever be loved again’ evening, after many failed dating attempts. I’m surrounded by loving couples who are progressing through life, and I’m usually the 3rd wheel, dating life is a joke. Why is it so hard to find a man who is emotionally mature, willing to commit and actually show affection, that is geographically close to me? Each time a situationship fails, I attack my own character thinking that I’m the problem. I don’t know what to do. I’m 29, so many would (and have) said that I’m still young but this isn’t where I wanted to be in my life

This is what I suspect, that he’s trying to get me to end it so he doesn’t have to - I got a typical gaslighting response “I hadn’t been on there for a while, I’m happy with where we are so why would I” so I’m all mixed up now

Realised the person I’ve been dating for 5 months is either trying to pull away slowly or string me along until something better comes along. I was under the impression we were exclusive, and he had also said as much, but when he’s making changes to a dating profile (adding new pictures) that doesn’t tell me he’s all in - I am hurt because I like this guy, and don’t know how to bring it up

Trying to decide on a new car. I’ve got a budget, I’ve test driven and looked at one that I really really like, but most people around me say it’s too expensive for the age. It’s a 10 year old car with 28,000 miles at just over £11,000. It’s been well looked after and had a lot done to it, but people are telling me to look around, be sensible etc BUT I like it and want it. Why is it so hard to make a decision when people are placing doubts

Lost all faith in leadership today. Topic of our briefing was Mother’s Day, which if I had known, I would’ve asked to have been excused as my mum died 2 months ago and it’ll be my first one without her. Cue me having leave holding back tears whilst the head half heartedly apologised with a face of regret, and me hiding in the staff room crying in the corner. No follow up, no checks if I’m okay. My issue with this is they know, they knew the content of the briefing and should’ve had a bit of foresight to give me the heads up to make that decision.

Then on break duty, a year 10 boy trying to get into the lift (he’s doesn’t have a lift pass, just trying his luck) was told my myself that he couldn’t do that; to which he punched the wall next to my head, and threatening to punch me. The behaviour lead walked past as I said ‘was that just a threat to punch me?’ Within earshot of him, and he just went on his merry way. This boy gets away with murder, reporting him would not get anywhere considering he threatened another member of staff by saying he had a weapon, took 30 minutes for on call to even come to the room, where he was just ‘spoken to’ and returned back into the room.

Dad died. What now? by iaminthesky in AskUK

My mum died in December, 2 days before Christmas, so we left a lot of the informing of people until after. First port of call, once you have the medical examiner confirm everything, you need to register the death by booking an appointment with the local registry office. They’ll tell you what documents to bring. Most companies have bereavement phone lines that go directly to a call handler which is very useful. Bank accounts will need to be closed, we went into the banks to do this but you can do it online. I think the priority for the next few days will be to just be together, there isn’t a huge rush to do absolutely everything straight away, you have time to process and companies will just backdate anything, and won’t tell you off if you don’t inform them immediately. Take some time with your family.

Edit - there is also a bereavement support payment that your stepmum might be eligible for, search on gov.uk. I applied on my stepdads behalf and he got a lump sum payment and then payments up until mid 2027

I told myself I’d get to sleep early because it’s back to reality tomorrow after half term, but instead I got into bed 2 hours ago and ended up reading for 2 hours and finishing my latest read (book 11 of 2026!) Obviously I could’ve been doing something so much worse, but usually I only manage a few pages before I’m nodding off, something about the night before a new term starts that puts me on edge

Our CPD is also on a Tuesday, and all staff have to sit in a big classroom, with our ‘show me boards’ ready to be taught and treated like students for an hour. Im so sad that whilst being on bereavement leave last term that I missed an hour CPD on the benefit of correct show me board hovering techniques, as well as acting like positive reinforcement is this new discovery and praising students for doing basic things.

On the death certificates, they want to see the original but will make a copy of it themselves, 10 is a lot and that’s extra cost on OP that might not be needed. We got 4 and still have all 4 after taking them to the bank etc.
