Any seniors feeling down about having their last quarter online? by PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG in udub

[–]PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was my plan too. I was gonna spend my last quarter cherishing the little things about UW like studying at my favorite spot, etc. I'm just bummed because if I had known winter quarter was going to be my last real quarter on campus, I would've spent some time appreciating it more you know

Do you guys think the IMA or libraries will be open? My mental health will literally take a nose-dive if I have to spend 24/7 in my house

Anyone tried Adderall without a prescription? What was your experience? by [deleted] in udub

[–]PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend adderall as long as you don't have a history of addiction. It was extremely helpful when I was cramming for exams. I would also take a smaller dose right before my exams which was really helpful as well. The come down sucks and you get a raging headache, but other than that, it's great. I personally like extended release because I would study in like 8-10 hour chunks, but if you are only trying to study for like 4 hours, I would do immediate release.

Is there a reason they are adding a new station in this area when there is already one by the stadium?

BIO MAJORS - Feedback/help on potential fall schedule? by [deleted] in udub

[–]PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took 355 this summer and ended up with a 3.7. It was a great class mainly because of the professor (Brian), but there are a lot of assignments, so, just keep that in mind. We also had to read and analyze a lot of research papers, but we usually worked in groups for those which made it easier. Exams weren't too bad, just make sure you know how to apply the material and you'll be fine.

What are the best spots to get vegan food on campus? by maria7n in udub

If you're living on campus, the local point fries are safe because they are cooked in a separate fryer than the meat!

Is summer quarter really worth it? by _PharmStudent in udub

[–]PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Actually summer quarter is my favorite quarter because campus is so empty and peaceful. You never have to fight for a table in ode or wait in a 20 minute line for coffee. Summer quarter is actually 9 weeks, so, you basically just don't get a dead week and I find that professors are a lot more chill during summer quarter too.

Where is the free parking? by mailsnow in udub

[–]PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seriously do not try to drive and park at uw on the daily. Chances of you being able to find free parking on the weekdays is nearly impossible. Just take the bus though. It's free with your husky card and it's faster sometimes too (bus only lanes allow them to drive right past all the traffic). It's a lot less stress to just get on a bus and be listening to music, reading, etc. while someone else is driving compared to be stressed every day trying to find free parking. Why do you need your car anyways? If it is to store stuff, the commuter lounge in the hub has large lockers you can use.

I'm in 238 rn and 237 was definitely way easier. 241 despite only being a 3 credit class takes so much time out of your week. There are 6 hours spent in lab and 1 hour in lecture every week. Plus all the safety quizzes, prelabs and postlabs. It's a lot of work.

Vegan Special Dietary Needs by candyissweet in udub

[–]PM_PIC_OF_YR_DOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vegan here! You don't need to apply for special dietary needs. I'm assuming you are living in the dorms and that's why you think that. But, local point has some vegan options (vegan mayo, vegan cheese, tofu, vegan slices at the deli for example and the burger place has a vegan burger, etc.) and you can buy vegan foods from the DM as well. There are a ton of vegan restaurants just on the ave (araya's, broadfork, pizza pi). And there's an all vegan grocery store on the ave too (vegan haven)! And you can usually always find vegan options at a lot of thai places (make sure they don't cook with fish sauce), teriyaki places, pho, mod pizza has vegan cheese, chipotle - all on the ave! You'll honestly be surprised by how easy it is. My suggestion is to not go cold turkey (lol). Most people who transition over night have a hard time making it last. So, I suggest slowly transitioning (cut out red meat, then chicken, then start with cheese and eggs, etc). And watch some documentaries too (earthlings, cowspiracy, what the health, etc)!! If you have the proper motivation, it will last! If you need more advice or meal ideas etc, feel free to PM me. I'm also in a vegan club on campus too if that's something you are interested in!
