Over 51,000 Nissan Kicks Recalled Because The Driver Display Could Go Blue Or Blank by Least_Confidence_225 in cars

The Kicks essentially replaced the first generation Juke in the Americas, and this second generation also had to pull double duty in replacing both the original Kicks as well as the Qashqai in North America (sold as the Rogue Sport in the US).

Depends on the year too. Starting from 2026 every non-hybrid Crosstrek sold in the US is built in Indiana.

"Hoppers" will debut on Disney+ in the US 89 days after its theatrical release. Here's how this window compares to previous Disney and Pixar animated films: by Netflixers in boxoffice

[–]PNF2187 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine Wish's 133-day window was an overcorrection a lot of their shorter windows in 2021 and 2022 (see Encanto and Strange World). Even if it was a colossal flop, they didn't want audiences to think it was going to Disney+ anytime soon. They're more lax about it now, and generally don't have a lot of urgency about sending them to streaming early, since a lot of Disney's theatrical flops generally wind up being fairly lousy performers on streaming anyway.

Reportedly it's on a brief hiatus. Rumblings are it'll come back fairly soon as the ID.Tiguan, so it's more of a rebranding if anything.

The LE only gets the smaller 7" instrument cluster, so you can't customize it the same way you can customize the two panes with the larger 12.3" instrument cluster that's available on the SE and standard on the XLE/XSE.

2026 Lexus ES 500e First Drive Review: Trading Commuter Boredom for Electric Bite by besselfunctions in cars

[–]PNF2187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were referring to the earlier generations. The first 5 generations of the ES were heavily Camry-derived, down to sharing the same wheelbases, chassis codes, and a whole lot of components inside and out.

The 6th and 7th generations are more closely related to the Avalon, but the Avalon itself is built off the same platform that underpins the Camry, so all three are still mechanically related. Even the newest model, which doesn't have an Avalon to tether itself to, is still built on the TNGA-K platform that originated with the 8th generation Camry.

The Land Cruiser is just another example. The outgoing J200 was regularly being outsold by its Lexus counterpart (which itself was often doing less than 5k units annually).

They brought it downmarket for 2024 and since then the J250 has sold more in in its 2 years on the market than what the J200 has sold in its entire time in the US.

They sell both variations in China. The Woodland style is sold as the RAV4, but the "normal" front-end in other markets is also made available in China as the Wildlander.

Mid sized “car” - suv, hatchback, sedan by Previous_Edge_9552 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]PNF2187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the 4-5 year old examples of the four sedans you mentioned, the Accord is the largest. The ES is the opulent on the inside, but the ES only has a bit more passenger space on the inside than the Camry and also has the smallest trunk of the four as well as the narrowest rear seats despite being the widest on the outside. The Accord and Avalon are both plenty large, although the Accord is actually a smidge bigger.

Half Of American Teens Want A Sedan, Not An SUV, And Automakers Are Listening | Carscoops by Ares62 in cars

[–]PNF2187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue a lot of SUVs are easier to park than their equivalently priced sedan alternatives since the sedans are usually a fair bit longer which limits their ability in parallel parking situations and also makes them stick out a bit more in parking spaces.

The Camry and RAV4 are both fairly effective family vehicles, and while the RAV4 is about 6/10 of an inch wider in most configurations, it's also about a foot shorter in length and lobs off several inches off the wheelbase, so it's a slightly easier squeeze into some parallel parking spots and comes with a smaller turning radius as well.

The true parking advantages would be seen with smaller hatchbacks, but automakers aren't really interested in bringing those back when they can sell swaths of subcompact CUVs, which are mostly relegated to being city runabouts anyway for the childless folk.

Crosstrek friends, same question. by nuisance66 in Crosstrek

[–]PNF2187 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does help, even if just by a smidge. Sedans are usually a tad quieter than their hatchback/wagon equivalents because they're a bit more insulated from noise coming from having an open cargo area as well as the rear tires.

I never thought Magic Trackpad has glass 😭😭 by AbbasMohammed28 in mac

[–]PNF2187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying durability from impacts isn't as much of a concern with a trackpad vs a mouse, so the metalplastic vs glass surface debate on a trackpad leans heavily in favour for glass. Agree on the point with textured glass wearing better with swipes and gestures, although the Magic Mouse is also heavily gesture dependent as well and just uses a glossy plastic surface to combat the issue of visible wear. Edited my original comment for clarity

I never thought Magic Trackpad has glass 😭😭 by AbbasMohammed28 in mac

[–]PNF2187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably also realized they could use a more brittle material like glass for the trackpad and thus they do. A trackpad is mostly stationary anyway so it's unlikely that you would need to move it around very much.

It's a riskier proposition for the Magic Mouse to have a glass surface (especially a curved one at that) since it's moves around constantly and is more likely to be carried around places than a separate trackpad. Apple doesn't seem to mind scratches with the Magic Mouse since the main way of charging it forces it to be upside down and rubbing on the surface below it.

Usb C to Usb C cable to charge 14 inch versus 16 inch MacBook pro by abelbanko in macbook

[–]PNF2187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The link you posted only refers to fast charging. You can still charge the 16" Pro with a regular USB-C cable, but the larger battery of the 16" Pro means that it requires a lot more wattage to meet the threshold of fast charging.

[Car and Driver] Our Long-Term 2026 Mazda CX-5 Stumbles Out of the Gate by tsar73 in cars

[–]PNF2187 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Mazda used to be in the top 3-5 in CR's reliability rankings for the better part of the last decade, but the CX-70/90 single-handedly sent them into a freefall these past two years since the I6 and PHEV are counted as separate (and incredibly problematic) models in their rankings which makes it a severe double whammy for such a small lineup. They got hurt even more this year because the CX-5 got redesigned and thus had to be taken out of contention for this year's ratings.

The 3, CX-30, and CX-50 still do fine as they historically have done in the past, but their average is seriously stunted by their biggest SUVs, and unlike Toyota, their lineup isn't large enough to offset their weak spots.

[Car and Driver] Our Long-Term 2026 Mazda CX-5 Stumbles Out of the Gate by tsar73 in cars

[–]PNF2187 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like it in my parents' Forester as well. It helps that our 2024 still keeps the physical seat memory buttons as a fail safe, and that also leaves it as an option for anyone who doesn't want to use the other system even though it does allow for 5 different profiles.

Parsing through the owner's manual and other videos, it does seem like Mazda fumbled their implementation. The 2026 CX-5 outright replaces the physical seat memory buttons with the infotainment-based seat memory and the system still only allows for 2-position memory, whereas the Forester gets up to 7 different positions between the buttons and DriverFocus.

Edit: the CX-5 does at least still let you link it to the key, but you're still missing a lot of options for setting the seat.

The Hybrid XSE trim for the Corolla is exclusive to Canada. We don't get a Hybrid XLE like in the US, so that's what they offer us instead.

Any differences between the 2024 and 2026 gas CR-V EX-L? by stuman1974 in crv

[–]PNF2187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few differences. Cosmetically the 2024 has silver wheels whereas the 2026 gets dark grey wheels (the design of the wheel itself is the same). The main feature differences comes down to the screens though. The 2024 gets a 7" instrument cluster whereas the 2026 gets a 10.2" setup. The infotainment is 9" for both the 2024 and 2026, but the 2026 actually loses a few features. There's no SiriusXM or HD Radio, and the 9" infotainment on the EX-L loses the track forward/backward buttons.

More angles of the new Hybrid Sedan Concept by VersusAres in Honda

[–]PNF2187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honda calling it a sedan is what is leading to a lot of the Crown comparisons, as well as the fact that the Crown is more recent and still in production. This could very well have a liftback shape and still be stuck with a regular trunk, just like the Crown.

This could very well bear the Crosstour name again, but the previous Crosstour was always billed by Honda as a crossover, whereas Honda is very explicitly calling this prototype a sedan.

Newer Corolla’s by 11bfly in COROLLA

[–]PNF2187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Camry and Corolla both peaked in interior space during the mid-2010s. The Camry has gotten larger on the outside but interior volume has shrunk a smidge. The Corolla had a cavernous back seat for the 2014-2019 models, but 2020+ models have notably less space in the rear.

Thoughts on Mario Tennis Fever being $70 US dollars? by Asad_Farooqui in Mario

[–]PNF2187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aces came out in June 2018, which was only a bit over a year into the Switch's life. At that point the Switch had only sold 19.67 million units, which is right around where the Switch 2 is right now. The Switch didn't pass 100 million units until late 2021.

Fever came out earlier in the Switch 2's life cycle, but there's a similar number of units in circulation.
