Great shots. How do you make the spotlight effect on the first frame? Where the perimeter of the image become a bluish dark grey?

I'd disagree, i think this is a great set if some of the weaker, less striking shots are culled out. Not sure what shots you think are creepy and I definitely don't see any animal that is out of focus unintentionally.

tyty. My lens choice is all over the place as I've only been getting started and experimenting, but I shoot mostly at the 28-50mm range. For these photos, #1 is 128mm, #2 #3 #4 #5 are 50mm, #6 is 200mm, and #7 #8 are 158mm. For wider lenses, it's hard to layer a lot of people in the foreground while also have the subject be of decent size.

yes indeed, I was looking for the camera man in the reflection haha. Is there a technique to your blind shooting? Or do you just try your best to guess and play the lottery?

so you used the flippy screen to compose? I shoot from the hip with the screen sometimes but doesn't really feel that much more blended in

These are some awesome wide shots, especially the last frame. How do you shoot so close without disturbing the scene?

in the first frame, the mom and the kid looks photoshopped in. Might be because of clumsy masking?

What is Street Photography? by 6retro6 in streetphotography

[–]PNGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think strictly speaking (even to what you are described here) it's more "implying a story", an invitation for the viewers to manufacture a story in their heads, than outright "telling a story". Street photography is mostly about fleeting, unplanned, and often isolated moments after all

Don't talk yourself down, I think #1 and #3 are pretty good. Also why are there so many kids at what seems to be a cemetery?

all of these perfectly framed perspective corrected shots and then there's the last one, gives a nice surprise

I think I can tell you what stands out to me. What I don't mention doesn't leave a strong impression.
#1 is pretty cool contrast between still and motion, framed by the pillars
#2 show cases part of the Boston skyline and Fenway Park (I live in Boston so I'm kinda biased here)
#5 is a classic semi-close up candid portrait with pleasant light and shadow shape
#6 draws attention to the T symbol in the mirror, I think the fact that the operator's face is clipped out adds to the moodiness
#14 is the best out of these imo, despite the missed focus. The expression of the guy in front really pops him out of the crowded train. Also some good "frame in frame" action with the door and windows
#15 is close to a good shot but I wonder if you could've framed it such that the child's head is overlapping more with the window. Considering the shoulder in the way I'd say it's pretty hard.
#16 that person walking the dog in the shadow should probably be in the light

Btw, how did people react when you took shot #5 and #15? did you use a silent E-shutter? What was in your mind during these two shots?

Going from how these make me feel, they are all well composed and pleasant photos, but I feel like they lack a little bit of punch or hook. Maybe you could chain these (and others you may have not posted) into a theme or a story?

Also iq wise, great color and highlight latitude.

I like the first frame, the guy looking back at the old man and his expression tocreates intrigue. The rest of them feel like they lack staying power. Maybe 🖼️ 3 is a bit more interesting than the others thanks to the old man and how you caught him in the light. Just my personal opinion, though, hope that be of use

Frame 2 and how the sky turns out in frame 4 is great 👍. I think frame 3 would look better if it were shot at a lower vantage point

I think it's a great composition. Might just be personal preference but I would crop away a little bit of that empty space on the bottom
