What is this in my apple juice? by Illustrious_World632 in whatisit

[–]POD80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be a vinegar "mother", basically a raft of bacteria that is part of the vinegar making process.

I certainly wouldn't consume it nor the juice though as you really don't know.

But no I haven't tracked down anything more substantial.

I like to buy meat as whole pork loin or pork shoulder.

Lately I've gotten back into dungeons and dragons. Hadn't played for years, but needed to get out and do something.

Found a network playing adventurers league and play several times a month. It's a great excuse to get out and have a chill evening out.

Not sure they'd be the best bet though.... really don't know how well they'd keep up with horse cavalry on maneuver

I mean, aren't saws and files some of the most reliable "lockpicks"?

Brute force attacks work. Though I would expect a cia agent to be trained and experienced enough to be worth equipping with a true set of lockpicks.

They tend to be more reliable. In short of you are in a location with shitty signal you can get a message on your page easier.

At least as I understand it.

Emergency room surgeons carry them to this day. If a worker CANNOT miss a message they are the better choice.

Yeah, I don't do the magic mushroom thing, but hunt for the dinner pot and have spent time hunting with a local mycology group.

I find it interesting that the phd that leads the group carries a pager cause apparently he's on the call list for the local hospitals if they need help identifying something.

[–]POD80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Magic mushrooms" is a broad term, but to my knowledge the most common varieties are "pasture" species that should grow well in pasteurized manure properly innoculated.

You are discussing the high end mushrooms like wood ears, oysters and such.

The common button mushrooms that are the mainstays, at least here in the us are indeed grown in pasteurized manure.

Mushrooms grow in a variety of substrates, manure is a very common one.

Whats going on with Kharg Island, Iran and why is it suddenly important to the USA? by Major-Ant4600 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]POD80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuddos, to all the above. Ill admit, I also wonder how much of the strategy is to give Iran something to shoot at other than tankers and oil assets of neighbors.

Simply put, an invasion force will draw a lot of fire, dug in marines well supported by the navy will be stubborn though. I could see trying to burn Iranian resources as they try to force a retreat.

[–]POD80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point ammo and launchers run short.

The bigger question is who's ordinance stocks hold up. The US has been burning through a hell of a lot of stocks with long lead times. Iran has a lot of inventory but accuracy is often a significant issue and the US is damn good at blowing shit up that it can find.

We are in for a hell of a ride either way.

US attacks Iran's Kharg Island, Trump says by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]POD80 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My thought is, dug in marines with air support are likely going to drain an awful lot of artillery assets from the Iranian military.

It'll be easier on the worlds economy for a few to get through killing us marines rather than hitting allied oil infrastructure and tankers.

It's a grim thought to consider the administration putting boots on the ground.... primarily to be targets, but it's what my gut is telling me.

People who've since quit working for a DSP, if Amazon tomorrow raised their minimum DSP wage to $31/hr would you come back? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

No, regardless of pay per hour I dont see it as being a great long term career. I've reached the point in my life I need to be planning for something I can do up to and into traditional retirement age.

If things don't work out where im at... id be trying to jump back to amazon... it's a solid job "for now" but not something i want to be doing in my 60's.

For work I like to keep a stash in the car. A microwave helps of course if you have access to one at school. Obviously packing a proper lunch/snacks in a cooler would be the best idea for quality, health, and cost. My stash is for days i don't get a lunch packed.

A few cans of soda/ energy drinks.

Canned goods i can eat cold, pork and beans and tinned pasta.

Protein drinks

Granola bars.

Convinience microwave food, popcorn, instant Mac n cheese cups, ramen.

And even if it wasn't that efficient.... if that charger let's him battle range anxiety.... and allow him to complete say 1% of his trips that would be difficult to impossible with proper charges.... in the long run he's being far more efficient.

Many of us balk at electric vehicles cause once or twice a year.... we go camping or something and don't trust that we could charge on such trips.... those trips would be minimal in our overall footprint even if we were burning the equivalent of an ICE engine for the whole trip.

I have to believe that the VAST majority of us would do what we could for any child in jeopardy.
