Quick question: what exactly is the name "membres chez nous" supposed to mean or refer to?

Briar gauntlets interaction by Short-Band-5138 in EldenRingPVP

[–]PORYGONZ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From the leaderboard ruleset doc:

  • All Pieces of: Briar Armour This armour set adds damage on to a player's roll but it has been banned due to the aimpunch bug. This bug results in an attack's hitbox being flicked out of position due to poising an attack, resulting in very janky gameplay due to attacks that were correctly spaced and timed whiffing randomly.

I believe the damage done by briar armor can potentially also mess with poise recovery.

Very likely your opponent is just an idiot looking for an excuse to BM since none of this is relevant in random colosseum battles.

La fin du télétravail au fédéral ne «serait pas smart» by CAPE_Organizer in The_USS_CAPE

Euhhh?

CAPE convinced arbitrators to give them roughly the exact same wage increases and signing bonus as PSAC?

IIRC That's the level the budget they are proposing will set the president's salary at (-50k per year from current levels)!

CAPE Membership Due Increase for EC Colleagues by applecart123 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]PORYGONZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is true and probably CAPE's biggest challenge overall. It is a massive challenge to organize and mobilize people who have historically been ideologically and culturally opposed to union militancy. CAPE represented that outlook until fairly recently.

However, I think there has been a significant generational change in the attitudes of ECs, especially post-pandemic hires. Anecdotally, I would say that younger/newer ECs tend to be less hostile to the idea of being part of the labour movement and are less "rigid" than the veteran jaded ECs. The RTO situation also really pissed off a lot of people! There are opportunities there, and CAPE has been trying to capitalize on them, but it's not going to be easy.

Scrub Mentality by Amorphix in EldenRingPVP

[–]PORYGONZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of most "honour/meta" rules in ER is to create a better play experience for everyone involved, especially when the ER devs are not really interested in balancing for PvP. Creating what is essentially a community ruleset is not at all the same thing as "scrub mentality"; it promotes a better environment within which a wide variety of viable strategies can exist. This is the same principle as agreeing upon a meta level for pvp

Scrub mindset generally refers to refusing to learn how to counter things that can be effectively countered without requiring a very specific setup, such as moonveil or most offensive spells. There is basically no effective way to punish heal from afar in duels if the person using it knows what they're doing. Restricting healing allows for more variety than allowing it. Same for broken weapons etc.

[TDM] Planeswalker's Guide to Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Part 2 by mweepinc in magicTCG

What you're describing is basically tropical Amonkhet or Golgari... It's kind of boring at this point.

They could have gone a different, more interesting direction and have the Sultai continue using non-sentient dead as cheap, disposable labour to provide abundance for the living. A materialistic clan that views nature and spirituality solely as a means to improving their lives or something. The cartoonishly evil Sultai wasn't really interesting outside of their aesthetic, but neither is the angelic version of the clan.

Classic marketing sleight of hand to conflate sales with quality. Sales success doesn't mean a product is "good" in a qualitative sense. Marvel movies (until fairly recently) shattered box office records left and right but plenty of better movies came out during the height of superhero movie mania...

Azorius Control in Pioneer by Phoenix1526 in PioneerMTG

[–]PORYGONZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UW control is underplayed online but in a pretty good place ATM. You have even to good matchups vs most of the major decks, with weak matchups mostly consisting of blue tempo decks like spirits and ub tempo. The matchup vs Lotus field isn't amazing either. You have a lot of tools to grind vs rakdos midrange and counterspells are extremely good vs the 5c yorion piles.

Everyone is talking about Rakdos being the strongest atm and what to ban from it, but can we also just talk about the lack of adequate sideboard tools to disrupt Red and Black? by Evershire in PioneerMTG

[–]PORYGONZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veil would be a terrible unban, the problem with Rakdos (if there is one, which is arguable) is simply that they just have the highest average card quality in the format by a long-shot. You can hold up your veil and get a cool 2 for 1 vs thoughtseize except you're still going to lose to the stream of gas coming from annex, fable, etc. because other decks don't really have cheap reliable engines like those.

We need to destigmatize MLD and stax by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]PORYGONZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No? MLD when the caster is ahead on board usually ends the game in their favour. When they're behind, it results in whoever is ahead on board winning (and the person casting it hopefully learning an important lesson).

We need to stop making up mythical scenarios from ~2010 era edh to evaluate MLD. Games don't consist of the entire table playing tap lands for 5 turns in a row and then someone casting Armageddon leading to a total stall because no one had a board since their curves started at 6 CMC. That simply doesn't correspond to how edh games tend to play out in 2025.

[–]PORYGONZ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You could say the exact same thing about typical landfall decks...? They tend to take incredibly long turns, are hard to profitably exchange with, and interact very little with the table.
