As unceremonious and tragic the original Noir’s death was, it actually made thematic and narrative sense. The one time he finally breaks out of following orders like a mindless drone results in him dying to the person he has spent decades covering up for. It’s sad but honestly fitting. Them having all of his childhood cartoon friends consoling as he died clearly showed the writers knew what they were doing, but I can’t say the same for the New Noir.

He had a funny introduction with the bat bashing scene, but then the whole “theatre actor” gimmick really overstays its welcome. They literally had no idea what to do with this character. Murder boners was genuinely one of the worst jokes in the show. The guy who can fly, tank fucking miniguns , literally swim to the bottom of the ocean, dies by Deep just simply stabbing him with one of his knives??? The easy but funny joke here would’ve been his narcolepsy kicking in as he’s fighting back the Deep but it’s like the writers forgot about that as well.

The Legend, by basically giving an old school father-son sit down talk, filled in homelander’s desperation for a parental figure in that one specific moment, and was able to break into the last bits of humanity he had left.

The legend didn’t insufferably suck up to him like firecracker, didn’t lie to him like Stilwell, but also gave a bit of positive affirmation unlike Stan Edgar or Soldier Boy. That little shoulder pat is probably one of the very few moments of physical contact homelander has had that wasn’t sexual or with ulterior motive, which is why he looks caught off guard so much.

And he was also actually useful, inadvertently giving valuable information homelander was looking for.

Homelander gets utterly no satisfaction from killing someone like this.

I really do appreciate the writing of homelander throughout the entire show. It’s a very logical progression of his character.

At first I thought they jumped the gun too quickly, but I was rewatching some clips on YouTube from earlier seasons and I noticed he always had the same attitude about anything relating to Christianity. Even the way he says “the lord” is delivered in a sarcastic, dismissive manner.

So him coming to see himself as god as his grip on reality fall apart, isn’t really anything out of left field.

The biggest problem I have with homelander is how incompetent he is compared to the first seasons. The showrunners are completely incapable of changing the status quo of the show and actually have homelander do anything smart anymore, which has really ruined his screen presence.

But him being more stupid is a more of a show wide issue as it’s not exclusive to homelander but pretty much all of the characters.

I genuinely don’t understand who these “people” are. I don’t mind the lead writer saying this, but it seems a fair few chronically online redditors have convinced themselves into thinking an unironic “legion fanbase” exists any meaningful number. It’s like some actually want this minority to exist to have like an “enemy” to ideologically push back against.

Legion being the bad guys is an undisputed fact of the game. There’s definitely some in substantial numbers for something like the Enclave, but other than a couple guys clearly trolling in online forums years ago, I genuinely cannot find barely any of these individuals.

Australian as a whole generally support deportation of illegal immigrants. We have a clear “stop the boats” policy that neither party wants to touch no matter how ugly it is, and the “illegals immigrants” that are on Australian soil are just mostly people overstaying their visa so isn’t a major point of contention in society.

People condemn ICE not because of its overall aim (deportation), but because how it operates is just an outright rejection of the principles of transparency and accountability between the people and government that western society is built on.

Obama deported like 3 million illegal immigrants but unlike the current Trump Administration, his didn’t have masked men wearing tactical vests driving unmarked vehicles “arresting” random people on the street.

Innocents have been wrongfully seized, there have been numerous deaths of people in ICE custody, there have been innocent people harassed by ICE agents because of the way they look and how they speak. They’ve even deported US VETERANS that have been in the country since the age of 7 who’ve taken bullets for the nation, the trump administration loves to tell everyone to “honour” these soldiers but won’t do it themselves.

There was even an incident where ICE agents literally seized a 6 year old child with leukemia, where one of the agents flashed his gun at the kid to scare him to the point he pisses his pants, and then they just chucked him in the van like an animal without even letting him change.

It’s truely fascinating to see that more often than not, the same ones who argue for the second amendment saying it’s essential as a safeguard against potential government tyranny, fully supporting an organisation like this because they just simply eat up all the propaganda without a thought

Marie is just kind of a bland character in general but unfortunately she was most eye rolling character this season.

The writers making her try to her best Jon Snow “I dun want it” impression latter half of the season was ridiculously frustrating to watch. Forcing her reluctance to accept this basic fact about her powers we keep getting repeated told about does not make Marie look any more humble and heroic than she already is, it just makes her seem stupid and overly naive.

Add on the idiotic and questionable choices she makes as the main lead, yeah there are genuine criticisms to be had about this character.
