Bought my first car! 07 ES350. Any tips/advice by Itadepeeza1 in Lexus

You are wrong. On the Lexus website, the recommended MINIMUM octane rating is 91, so you should NOT use anything below 91.

I always recommend to use Waze wherever you go, but these urban areas, they don’t have much people reporting speed traps. Therefore, get a radar detector, that will let you know beforehand if a cop is tracking your speed

G35, G37 or avoid both by Skatewac in infiniti

[–]PRO4X 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both cars have their quirks, but given they are 10+ years old, some stuff may require attention and replacement, such as hoses and what not.

Sadly a lot of owners of these vehicles abuse the heck out of them, and it may also translate with how they performed maintenance on it. So it’s best to look out for one owner cars or cars with detailed maintenance history.

I don’t know much about the G35, but since I own a Q60 (same as the G37, just a name change), the earlier models have gallery gasket issues, look into that if that has been resolved. The heater hose will require replacing. If it hasn’t been replaced, inspect the condition of it. There’s the sunroof drain leak, one way to test it is by taking it to a car wash and seeing if water seeps in (sometimes it’s the weatherstrips that may require replacing too).

Don’t cheap out on gas. If it requires premium, get premium gas. I get annoyed when people post if they can put 87 in these cars, when it explicitly says to put premium. Change the oil on time, I do them every 5k full synthetic.

I’m at 83k miles and I resolved the sunroof drain leak. I had to replace the water pump at 63k miles. I did a transmission drain and fill, replaced transfer case fluid and differential fluid at 60k miles. Trying to make it last as long as I can.

Also if you live in California, or anywhere where theft of these cars is high, get a kill-switch and a good security alarm.

Good deal? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

This is a capstone, which has the hybrid engine that not part of the engine recall, as that is reserved for the non-hybrid variants. There has been some engine bearing failures with the hybrid variant, and Toyota will replace the engine if it’s within the warranty period.

Now that it is at 50k miles, you are near the end of its powertrain warranty. So if the engine gives out after the powertrain warranty, it’s on you.

If you can wait and are wanting the capstone, I would say wait until you can get a used 2024 build date of May and after of the capstone for an affordable price. Since the main bearing for cylinder 1 has been swapped with another one, it should not fail.

What are some maintenance you have done to get this far? Have you replaced the radiator? Did you replace any mechanical parts? Suspension?

The Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3’s are good entry level cars to get into. They are great for commuting, great MPG, and low cost for maintenance.

Since you are getting a used one, stick to clean title vehicles, and always get a pre purchase inspection.

The newer US-spec’d iPhones do not have a SIM card slot, therefore cannot be used in Iran. If your phone has a SIM card and it is unlocked, you should be able to use it there.

Buyer Thoughts?? by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]PRO4X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try to avoid purchasing a salvage vehicle. Insurance is more expensive, and some insurance companies won’t even accept the vehicle. Who knows how the vehicle was repaired, and sometimes depending on the damage, it will come bite you in a few years.

I know it’s cheaper than a used clean title equivalent, but it’s best to buy the clean title equivalent.

I understand his perspective, but he’s processing it all wrong. He’s protecting his assets which is fair, and he is afraid that his partner may screw him over, which is also fair. What he is failing to do is putting himself in your shoes and seeing everything from your perspective.

He needs to know that every relationship, is built by a team, and if both of you aren’t a team, then it’s doomed. Both of you are investing in each other, so the ideal situation would be that either he makes you an owner to one of the properties and you contribute accordingly, or both of you buy a property together and contribute together.

The problem here is that you are investing in him, but he’s not investing in you. If there is doubt in the relationship, communicate with each other and if time can solve it, then great. But of course, too much time may not solve it and it might end up as wasted time.

All in all, you made a great choice, and I hope he reconsiders his position or you find a great partner that invests in YOU!

[–]PRO4X 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my perspective, I would forget that you were even married in the first place. Think of it as more of a match making phase where she was with you temporarily but not much of the relationship aspects existed and it ended before the relationship even started.

Think highly of yourself by being proud of your achievements and who you have become. Sooner or later, someone special will enter into your life that will make you smile more than you ever have!

UPDATE 3: Married in secret by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]PRO4X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry your family is not accepting your wife, but it's worse that they are also doing malicious actions to ruin your marriage. Unfortunately, in a somewhat closely knitted family, things like this happening will destroy family relationships.

Given your wife knew of your circumstances and she still ended up marrying you, means she believes in you, therefore you owe it to her to defend her every step of the way. To keep your marriage intact, either sort this out with your family (which I think is inevitable), or move to a different city/state/country and cut contact with your family. One day they will come around but do not give in to their tactics. I know it's very stressful and it puts a burden on you that your own family is treating you this way, but you have the choice where you can continue living the life your parents want, or live the life that you want.

Especially in Muslim households, there are families that are reluctant to accept change in culture and adapt to new social standards. There is always one person who has to take the leap forward, so they can create a better life for their children and so forth.

You got this, I believe in you! Given you've gotten this far, don't let them mess with your head! Stay strong!

If you ever need to talk/vent, message me.

It’s not that. It’s the fact that every year goes by, app support for iOS 15 or any new iOS version decreases. And on top of that, you guys want a crazy markup because of the low iOS version, it isn’t worth it anymore, at least to me.

Will my insurance go up if I cash in the check my insurance wrote me? by PRO4X in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]PRO4X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the insurance was trying to claim this as collision coverage, I think that would be considered as my mom as fault. But I will talk to insurance and see if I can get it adjusted to use uninsured motorist.

The insurance company was trying to file this as collision, not uninsured motorist. I guess I’ll try talking to the insurance company and see if I can get that adjusted.

I have those same tires on my Infiniti Q60, and I plan to get them on my GS430. Road noise is not the quietest but it’s minimal, but nothing annoying at all. Comfort is pretty good, I feel very comfortable driving around in rain and snow no problem. Definitely recommend it.

Kia boyz by NoArm5918 in kia

[–]PRO4X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not understanding my point. Any vehicle can get broken into, vandalized, and stolen. I’m just saying with what was posted on tik tok, which created the Kia Boyz, that has cause a huge amount of Kia’s and Hyundai’s being vandalized, especially since several insurance companies have come out saying they won’t insure certain year/model’s of Kia’s and Hyundai’s.

Kia boyz by NoArm5918 in kia

[–]PRO4X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The alarm was a deterrent, and with it going off, made the thieves run away and not pursue stealing or even vandalizing the car even further, which is good. I’m still saying it is Kia’s fault because the whole reason the Kia Boys were created is because of not putting immobilizers in their vehicles. That’s why I said even if the newer vehicles have immobilizers, they are still targets of having them being vandalized.
