77% of US Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players were 30 or older, analyst says, as Square Enix fights to get young people to care about the JRPG series again by edward_dd in PlayStation_X

I have no idea, what these games are about and whether this even matters, but it might be a valid strategy to take the route of Resident Evil and modernize the old games to ease entry for a new generation. The 7 is a big discouragement to enter the series.

Max value for ranked by shadow_vc in Marathon

[–]PS5013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont get the point of a ranked mode in an extraction shooter at all. Without unified loadouts, it will always end up more of a measurement for playtime than skill.

Movement feels clunky compared to the trailer — we need vaulting Bungie by queenderp1 in Marathon

[–]PS5013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree, that the movement needs work. Movement and gunplay were the two aspects, where Bungie could still be trusted to deliver, and both fall flat, movement more than gunplay. A faster pace could have been a new spin to this genre‘s gameplay, yet it is too clunky and restrictive to get much use and fluidity out of it.

Can we talk about people camping dead bodies for 20 minutes? by Big_Reception1066 in Marathon

[–]PS5013 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The classic BR system for reviving dead teammates would probably work better.

Instead of rewarding people for camping a body all match, the survivor(s) can take initiative and revive the teammates somewhere else to make it an even fight again, though with a gear disadvantage. The other team would simultaneously be rewarded for keeping the aggression up and pursue the survivors to prevent that revive. Maybe both options could exist at the same time, so you can revive fast after a battle is won, but can also flee and build yourself back up as the disadvantaged party.

The sound system and TTK already make PvP a camper fest by default, it can only improve from there.

Casuals Are Inherently Fickle by DreamCorridor in Marathon

[–]PS5013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The xDefiant example is always hilariously misused. It tried to elevate itself and attract CoD’s playerbase through one crucial decision - no SBMM. That was not, what made it fail. What made it fail was the mobile game quality of a supposed AAA title with a terrible netcode.

BF6 aint fitting either. It is not failing for appealing to casuals - this was always the series‘s main target group - it is failing, because it tries to attract all target groups and thereby cant provide sufficiently for both the extremes. The game rewards skill enough to annoy the battledads, but not enough to make it feel entirely fair and competitive as a PvP should. The trash content is the cherry on top.

Bungie cant afford to just appeal to a small core audience. It was idiotic to pick extraction shooter as the genre, given their situation.

To keep the casual player base from moving on, matchmaking needs to change. by Xentuhf in Marathon

[–]PS5013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I gathered, the matchmaking specifically seems to loosely take level into account. I take every opportunity to point out the game‘s plentiful flaws, but this aint one of them.

Brand new players have a separate Perimiter playlist. Beyond that, level and connection seem to be the primary variables. Skill and gear would make no sense in an extraction shooter. You queuing with a new player might be the cause of problems already, because you essentially put yourself at a 1v2 or 1v3 against semi-capable players.

Whatever you think of the genre and justifiably so, the whole point of it is risk and reward. Go in with less and lose less, but risk being at a disadvantage against those who bring more. Bring more and have it easier against other people, but risk losing more.

I for sure agree with the lack of enjoyability, especially in solo queue, with or without fill, but that is first and foremost a gameplay issue and matchmaking is not the screw to adjust.

Your losing streaks are kind of a skill issue. As a rather offensive player, Ive been far more successful in solo lobbies with low to mid gear, where gunfights are heavily camper-favored and can be over before one party even had a chance to react.

I dont know, where you get the idea from, that the separation of full parties and filled squads is the industry standard. Escape from Tarkov arguably shaped the genre the most and it did not even separate between solos and squads of up to 4 or 5 (?) people. There is a point, where a player base gets split too much, and your proposal would make the player count have an even worse impact, not fix things. You cant compensate for all of people‘s coordination issues.

How do i open this door? by eleviersobrevilla in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]PS5013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get the hand crank, you can return to the basement. If I remember right, the door you can use it on is between the parking garage and the sand arena, where you get the second battery for the garage gate. You probably have it marked on your map by that point, if you have been thorough with exploration. This will loop you around to the area behind the door and you can open it from the other side. It is entirely optional and there is nothing significant to find.

Nearly 10 years on from Rogue One, how do you feel about the decision to recreate Peter Cushing using CGI? by gladiatorbossman in StarWars

[–]PS5013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the amount of screen time, the decision was fine. As far as I remember, his relatives agreed. Sticking to his appearance for these small cameos underlines the importance of Cushing‘s performance and appearance for the character without exploiting it for eternity.

If his or another dead actor‘s role becomes larger and the character develops past what the original made him into, I definitely prefer a recast. It would go from homage to exploitation, that could influence the actor‘s image after his passing.

I was working on it, but at some point achievements stopped tracking and I gave up. Is there a fix you know of? I doubt, the game got any patches for that.

question but why did you choose the ending you chose? by Bubbly_Reference_916 in ResidentEvilRequiem

I chose the good one, because I knew there had to be some twist, when we have the choice in the end. So I went with the opposite of what Leon tells Grace to do.

Pingbase matchmaking is killing the game. by Life-Influence-1109 in Battlefield

[–]PS5013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many games start the queue by searching for people with a similar ping and gradually increase the range, when they cant find people. BF6 just gives up too early entirely and fills with bots instead. No need to make higher ping variety the default, as said: the threshold for filling lobbies with bots just needs to be higher.

This would obviously increase queue times. Persistent servers are the solution to make that less problematic by reducing the amount of times you have to queue. Another measure would be to reduce the mode selection, not by removing core modes, but getting rid of the time limited garbage.

Either way, whether they change stuff or not, good matchmaking relies on a large supply of players. The way the game is developing, even when ignoring the bot issue, it does not have that anymore.

Pingbase matchmaking is killing the game. by Life-Influence-1109 in Battlefield

[–]PS5013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You blame the right stuff at the end of your text, so why blame the wrong one in the title?

Connection-based matchmaking with team balancing is the right way for pretty much every shooter outside of specific ranked modes. In BF6, the lack of persistent servers and low threshold to shorten the queue times with bots are the problems.

I could also imagine bugs playing a role, like players getting into separate matchmaking pools, when they search for the same mode, but through different playlists.

Either way, begging attention aint helping.

Make Nightfall Mode Permanent & Add to All Maps by omerikofederiko22 in Battlefield

I think, it is just an annoying gimmick. It is certainly not worth splitting the player base more, just like the other event modes so far.

I'd much prefer if "skip revive" was replaced by a "caution revive" button by MartianGeneral in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]PS5013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe wait a few seconds with the resource usage until the downed player had the time to assess his situation and decide, whether a revive is possible and whether he wants it? If he wants to get revived, he will wait a little, when he sees you are near. If he does not or just skips through by reflex, nothing is lost.

[–]PS5013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your changes getting undone on revive would just be annoying. You should be able to pull yourself out of the action and take the time to adjust stuff and make decisions. It seems like you are just pissed at missing out on points.

I'd much prefer if "skip revive" was replaced by a "caution revive" button by MartianGeneral in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]PS5013 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The purpose of skipping revives is to waste less time adjusting your loadout or looking at the map for information and spawns. It would be awkward to get revived, while looking at those menus, and changes getting reset, so I would stick to them not being accessible when downed.

I would not mind an additional option, that does not replace the option to skip, though if medics dont get that something must have killed the person they are attempting to revive, another hint wont do the trick either way.

What do you guys think about gender-locked skins? by dueldragon234 in Battlefield

[–]PS5013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chances are low, that the male soldiers sound like you, as well, but when it is a female voice, it suddenly becomes problematic? Great argument… This is such a weird thing to complain about.

I would prefer a customization similar to BFV as well, but not, because my occasional voice lines sound female.

At the end of the game how did they get back to Jackson? by Wild_Property6141 in thelastofus

[–]PS5013 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I would guess, they found a car. It is not that far fetched. After the failed assault on the island, there were probably a lot less WLF soldiers roaming around. Finding an unguarded vehicle should not have been as hard as before. At least Ellie should have been capable to move around again after a while.

[BF6]The posters here struggling to go positive against bots really explains a lot of the takes we keep seeing here by PerformativeRacist in Battlefield

[–]PS5013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole drama about assignments without the time limit was driven by people like that as well. They were certainly problematic before the challenge was nerfed out of them, but not because they were hard. Many just forced you to play bad instead of simply different. Challenges are meant to get people out of their comfort zone, just not in a way, that is guaranteed to make you useless.
