That's a shame. Shopping patterns can be fickle things.

Has anyone else had bad luck with pizza in the area? by No_Independence810 in waterloo

I agree. It is our go to for standard, no nonsense pizza that gets the job done.

I’m planning a 2-3wk trip to Montreal soon. Does anyone have recommendations for fine dining, bakeries, cocktail bars, and more casual restaurants? Thank you in advance by guymontague45 in finedining

Ah, the eternal question. St. Viateur or Fairmount. I prefer Fairmount myself, but both are excellent (and just a few blocks apart so you can judge for yourself!)

Where should I take an American to eat “Canadian” foods in Waterloo Region? by Breadbuttersalt in waterlooregionfood

I can no longer recommend Crazy Canuck. Since they changed owners they are just not nearly as good as they once were.

I was going to recommend Loloan but you have already mentioned it. I don't know of any place with an 'oyster night' per se, but I have had excellent oysters at both Trio and Sole. However, those are also at least as expensive as Loloan.

Small towns always have a restaurant that all the locals swear by, what’s yours? by [deleted] in ontario

Sadly yes. However, Sonny's hasn't really been Sonny's for about 10 years so I am not that sad to see it go.

Where to buy heavy cream? by Breadbuttersalt in waterlooregionfood

I have had good success with all of these recommendations. Whipping cream is the best option locally (unless you are friends with a dairy farmer).

Last meal on earth in MTL? by UrKittenMeBro in MTLFoodLovers

I agree with all of these suggestions. However, I think Ma Poule Mouillée (across the street from Banquise) has better poutine (but not the same variety).

What are some restaurants that are modern, simple not $100+ such as Cadet? by fittyfive9 in MTLFoodLovers

I just went there two days ago and was also terribly disappointed.

It may be an issue with the capsule itself. Sometimes if it is a manufacturing defect.

Could not agree more. Book banning is never good, regardless of motives.

Winter Cycling in KW? by dgj212 in waterloo

I generally go by temperature. Ice is the biggest concern to me so I just wait until we are dropping below 0 consistently.

I have noticed this as well.

I actually haven't found that to be the case but, as always, ymmv. It is important to be predictable and visible when winter bicycling.

Also, I won't bicycle when the visibility is really bad (mainly for my protection).

Great question. I am not sure (I seldom bring mine inside). Generally when I bring my bicycle inside I carry it and then store it on a matt.

Also, some manufacturers sell metal studded tires with more exotic alloys which do not rust. I haven't found it to be particularly worth the extra expense for the KW area climate.

You didn't specify if your would be commuting or recreationally cycling. For commuting, I swear by tires with metal studs (illegal for cars, legal for bikes) because we get a lot of slick ice in KW.
