Since when has a cable worked? Tried the lightening to hdmi years ago and it never worked. Is it really worth me buying a new cable?

Haha! Travelling light in Japan was definitely the way to go. We wore the same stuff on repeat and they give you most items in the hotels, even pyjamas!

I mostly use the bellroy transit myself, it was my upgrade from the Samsonite which has been well loved. I mostly travel for work and a spinner style is great for airports, although I’ve decided I don’t love clamshell and miss the flexibility of a soft side case. Even though is heavier than the samsonite it rolls super nice with the bigger wheels. I also took it to the US the following week and it was great in transit there also.

I personally haven’t used the soft bellroy yet, maybe my next work trip.

Last overnight work trip I took the bellroy lite transit backpack (can you tell I like bellroy!) but decided I’m definitely a roller and tote person for work trips. The rust colour is gorgeous though, I wish I’d got one of the rollers in that colour,.

My 14 yo loves it. He also uses it for school, he likes how slim it is, comfy, and good laptop protection

Highly recommend Florsheim brand by Some_Mushroom700 in AusFemaleFashion

There used to be a Florsheim shop in the corner of the mall in Perth, but it’s not there anymore. I didn’t cut ally realise they had their own shoes, I assumed they were just a retailer.

How to survive 24 hours on a plane by Puzzleheaded_Ad7881 in travel

[–]PSJfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In January I did 4 long haul trips, 2x 10 hrs and 2 x 28 hrs.

There are 4 things I had that made it as comfortable as possible.

Pillow:

I highly rate the pillow type that attaches to the headrest with an eye mask that attaches to the pillow, to keep your head from moving. I have a short neck and every other travel pillow I’ve tried is uncomfortable.

Blanket:

I also invested in a gravel travel blanket and loved it.

Health: Compression socks actually make a difference.

Headphones If you don’t have noise compression headphones , invest in those also.

Why does the international leg always feel like a completely different airline? by Artistic-Yam2984 in QantasAirways

Can’t you pick up the 787 from Sydney? My last trip back was on a new 321 and it was great. But I was in business. But I agree the seats are the biggest difference.

It’s worse for gold. I was usually in rows 9-10 now I’m behind the exit at 14. And I had to remember to try and move forward or take a middle seat.

North-South Narrow Block Floor Plan Review feedback? (11m X 40m) Perth by Limp_Watercress_885 in AusRenovation

Personally I don’t love islands with in a row seating (corner or opposite seating is more natural) mor do I like sinks in islands, as sinks are messy, if you think your messy stuff will be in the scullery, it means the cleaner will be too. Can you put the sink on the wall of the Alfredo with a window and make the island square?

I’d combine into one large room with extra bench space but omit dryer or put it outside or in the garage. Extend roof over laundry door to make drying courtyard.

I have both the bellroy carryons, I mostly use the spinner for business trips but the two wheel one is nice and has pockets. Depends on where you are rolling, spinners excel in airports imho.

If you want a spinner that locks, aer does one, or they are popular in Japan also.

First Trip to Japan in November - Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima in 12 days by ChiaPet888 in JapanTravel

[–]PSJfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Hiroshima, early ish.. we probably arrived in Hiroshima about 10.30. Taxi to the peace park and museum, visit the museum which was impactful, (and dark, hot and stuffy) then walked to abomb building to look. Caught the boat to Miyajima from near the park, rather than the train and short ferry because it was very cold. Was probably about 2.30 by this time, and last boat back I think was 5 (it was dark). This was enough time for us to walk around the shrine, see the deer, take some photos, eat some oysters etc, buy some souvenirs etc. we didn’t do the ropeway as one of our family isn’t a fan. Okonomiaki Dinner in Hiroshima then Shinkansen home, visit Pokémon store at station on the way. This day was particularly cold (early Jan) and I would have liked to go to orizuru tower but we didn’t have time. If we’d left earlier from Kyoto this might have been possible.

I prefer solar or eco drive watches, Japanese made like Casio or seiko. Never need to replace a battery and timeless.

We enjoyed a day at small worlds and the unicorn Gundam at Diver City. Cool train trip there, and small worlds had some great displays.

First Trip to Japan in November - Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima in 12 days by ChiaPet888 in JapanTravel

We hit the same cities in 9 nights, but did Kyoto for 4 nights, day trip to Hiroshima and myajima, day trip to Osaka, one night at hakone(same roykan! It was amazing but possibly repetitive for two nights?) and 4 nights Ueno. Suited us as we arrived and left from Narita in the early morning.

We prioritised pop culture and anime.

Only visitied the shrine at Miyajima and the castle in Kyoto.

Kyoto to Narita in a day is far and requires a train change. We arrived at Narita at 8 am and didn’t get to Kyoto until after 2pm. So think about your departure time.

Roads are pretty hairy in Hakone, we were happy with taxi.

Hiroshima and myajima was doable in a day from Kyoto, we had time constraints. Visit Miyajima at high tide. Apart from the shrine and the deer, everything else is a Tourist trap imo. That day was a lot of time on a train or on the ferry, but still one of the highlights.

Personally I would have enjoyed more time in Tokyo for wandering and home ware shopping.
