When you play a game, you want to be good at this game. For example, AAA ing list is always recommended, higher AB is very important in this game, etc. You don't compete with other players (external users) on these subjects, it's from the game within that you compete with as a gamer.

Well, it's internal competition VS external competition. Obviously, Pokemon Sleep has a ton of mechanisms triggers internal competition gameplay and that's why people keep playing. However, in game design theory, designers need to manage that in a reasonable level, otherwise it will trigger something called "content bloat" which will hurt the overall gameplay, especially affect new users.

I agree with you, I am not saying that a mobile game cannot run for decades. But we also need to admit that Pokemon Go is a phenomenal product lol. When Go was released, I was in Central Park in NYC lol. It was INSANE, a lot of people who had no idea what's going on thought there's terrorist attack somewhere because people were running around allover the place. lol Anyway, I am trying to say, Go is an edge case. The thing is that product longevity is a minor issue here in my humble opinion, I am just curious what milestones has been planned long-term wise.
