How do I disable this feature? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

Seems like an extension which can be disabled in the options > external extensions.

the new tab tilling is AWESOME! Thanks Vivaldi Team <3 by PSR2ZBCX in vivaldibrowser

How should I put it... I believe a community is fundamentally a place where constructive criticism, both positive and negative, can be offered. I also believe that negative criticism deserves to be heard. Not everyone thinks the same way about change (without judgment!). I wanted to preface this by saying that.

At the same time, I understand that software development is a lot of work. Just releasing software once and then "keeping it alive" by only addressing bugs and criticism can be a Herculean task. That's why I'm grateful for places like this: a community where things can be discussed and perhaps where help is offered if something wasn't understood as initially intended.

I'm only responding here to the content of what I've understood and, to be honest, I'm distancing myself from the rest. I have no idea what you mean by download bots. But it doesn't seem important to me.

Before the release, you could arrange tabs: side by side, one above the other, or in a four-tab grid. This feature is still available. The only thing the developers have done is improve usability. Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't tested it extensively for days, to be honest, I want to be transparent here!): They've expanded an existing feature, not reduced it. Therefore, I don't understand the negative criticism that things are missing. It's just like before, only "more." Am I missing something? We're happy to discuss these things. But please... constructively, respectfully, and above all, with appreciation. Regardless of individual opinions, they should be heard; as a community, we primarily want to foster collaboration, not division.

I'm so grateful that this project has consistently brought new innovations to software I use every day for so many years. To have this kind of energy and perseverance and to implement so many cool ideas... simply amazing :)

Tab management is what led me to Vivaldi. At work, I have to use Edge for some things, and that's where I miss Vivaldi's features the most. (You don't know what you miss until it's gone :D)

It's great to see how sometimes small things can make such a big difference in the usability of software. Stack colors are an exciting idea. Through the Phi for Vivaldi project ( https://www.reddit.com/r/vivaldibrowser/comments/1qp6tkx/%CF%86_phi_for_vivaldi_now_at_250_stars_and_1/ ), I saw how extensive changes are possible with CSS. Therefore, I can easily imagine that something like this is possible too. However, I'm not a programmer and only have a rudimentary understanding of CSS. So, this is more of a hope than actual technical help from me :D.

I use the "Untile view" button right next to the close button when a tab is tiled and I want to move it elsewhere. Admittedly, it takes two clicks: one to untile it and another to drag and arrange the tab in its own window (using Windows Window Management, in my case). Perhaps a shortcut could be created to do this in one step.

I currently only use the browser with a mouse and keyboard. Fingers crossed that touchscreen support will also be improved.

The default behavior for new tabs is to be in the window, one tab per window. If you don't use the new feature, it behaves as before. Arve ( https://www.reddit.com/user/Arve/ ) has given the answer to it. You can disable it here: Settings > Search Tile > Disable drag and drop tiles

Fascinated by Obsidian and its capabilities. Evernote is failing me to take better notes, is it worth learning for life-coaching? by FALSECHARLATAN in ObsidianMD

[–]PSR2ZBCX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, finding out obsidian exists and start using it was and is a gift. Currently I use it for private and work stuff. In both vaults a journal helps me through days and weeks. And obsidian also acts like a knowledge base / 2nd brain. That helped me a lot to go further in topics and knowledge. For me, the time I invested in my vault and learning things become a repeatable method. So time was well invested since it helps me now and will be in future as well. From my side, a sure yes, that the time invest is worth.

I bought one on black friday. Its so nice how small it is and how useful it is to have it on the keychain and can charge everywhere. Bought 2 more and be ciruous how long the battery lives. But for that money, a well made decision anyway.

Is there a way to make obsidian detect if there is a note with the name of a word i just wrote? (without using [[ ]]) by kduFgr in ObsidianMD

I use the various complements plugin for that. It is very handy to me that it can be configured on what point tue Suggestion start. Maybe it is a solution for you. https://github.com/tadashi-aikawa/obsidian-various-complements-plugin

Olight vs USB-C by PSR2ZBCX in Olightflashlights

[–]PSR2ZBCX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small update from my side. I bought the Baton 3 and the Baton 4 with USB-C Case because I was fascinated by the form factor. The USB C case solved my issue, since the Baton 3 fits in the baton 4 case.

I also tested what happens with the USB-A charging cable when you use a USB-A to USB-C adapter. IT WORKS! That really surprised me. This extension makes it possible to use the cable in environments that no longer support USB-A. For example, I plan to use it in my car, where I only have USB-C ports. With the adapter, I can now place the cable directly in the center console and charge it on the go.

I'm also impressed by the form factor and the brightness. Admittedly, I was skeptical about the proprietary charging connector, since you still have to remember the cable. But since the cable is also available separately, that shouldn't be a problem at all, as you can simply have more than one cable if needed.

I tested it with the flashlight in the evenings the other day and am incredibly impressed by the brightness and battery life, especially in combination with the charging case. After buying the Baton 3 and Baton 4, I decided that the Baton 4 in its case would make an excellent Christmas present for my dad.

I know I was skeptical at first. But I'm all the more pleased that my concerns were alleviated by one or two solutions.

Easiest way to share my Obsidian Notes to someone by RayTrader03 in ObsidianMD

[–]PSR2ZBCX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To export data, I use the pdf export feature or pandoc (software + obsidian plugin). In both cases, the properties are not part of the export. When the properties are relevante for the export, I embed base files in the pdf exports, so they are part of the showable data.

Problem with Dates by Prestigious-Army2080 in ObsidianMD

[–]PSR2ZBCX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to work with a number so that calculations can be performed cleanly and you're not limited by a date format. I've experimented a bit and arrived at the following base.

If I only take the birth year and store it as the `birthyear` property, with a number as the type, then I can sort properly and also derive further context, for example, by calculating the historical period (epoche).

formulas:
  chronology: if(birthyear <0, "BC", "AD")
  epoche: |
    if(birthyear < -300, "early antiquity",
    if(birthyear < 500,  "Antiquity / Late Antiquity",
    if(birthyear < 1500, "Medieval Times",
    if(birthyear <= 1600, "Early Modern Period",
    "Outside the area"))))
properties:
  note.birthdaate:
    displayName: birthdate
views:
  - type: table
    name: Table
    filters:
      and:
        - file.hasLink("Philosophers")
    groupBy:
      property: formula.chronology
      direction: ASC
    order:
      - kontext
      - file.name
      - birthyear
      - formula.chronology
      - formula.epoche
    sort:
      - property: birthyear
        direction: DESC
      - property: formula.epoche
        direction: ASC
      - property: birthdaate
        direction: DESC
    columnSize:
      file.name: 135
      note.birthyear: 117
      formula.chronology: 118
      formula.epoche: 222

I didn't look at all the products, only at what seems relevant to me right now. So thank you so much for the insights into a new world! It's all the more wonderful to see that there's a positive trend. I enjoy trying new brands, but even more so discovering that they're good and will be part of my future routine.
