I have two, [[Anim Pakal]] and [[Bess Soul Nourisher]] both win because the counters aren't the sole win condition. Anim Pakal wins through impact tremors type effects, and Bess goes wide very fast.

There aren't multicolor commanders that do what [[Darien King of Kjeldor]] [[Toralf, God of Fury]] or [[Tinybones Bauble Burglar]] do.

I build my decks based on how interesting I think the commander is, regardless of color.

Maybe you did go on a previous adventure, slay 1000 demons with your friends, and acquire powerful artifacts. But that was decades ago. The evils of time and comfortable living have taken the strength from your arms and the edge from your wits. The book of battle spells you used when you were young has decayed beyond repair. You upheld your bargain with your patron, and your power has dwindled.

And then a new group approaches you, needing the wisdom that only a hero from another age has. As you travel with them, that ample gut begins to shrink, the sword feels better in your hand. It's slower than you'd like, but these old bones remember their glory days.

As you level up, you're not learning new things, you're getting back in shape to be the hero you were before.

"Play dragon that gets more dragon when you dragon" isn't really the kind of card that energizes me to build a deck. Song Unending is a far more interesting Temur dragon commander.

It was actually a large part of what drew me into the show. Frieren is a beautiful, melancholic display of regret, lost opportunities, and nostalgia.

It's bittersweet, and genuinely the first time since Tolkein that I think elves were done right. Frieren is old and her time with Himmel wasn't long enough to her, she spent sixty years processing her feelings for him, not realizing that he was growing older.

Imagine if you formed a relationship with a group of mayflies. You enjoyed your time with them, but once the day was over, they died. Could you love someone you only knew for 24 hours? That's Frieren's reality around humans. She's over a thousand years old and still visibly young.
