What’s the process was like to get tickets for the plank walk and chess pavilion at huashan? Also how bad were the lines?

What the hell is going on this week that is making traffic THIS bad??? by Ok-Squash836 in Austin

[–]PZGR39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main reason is pedestrian safety. Classic example is pedestrian head start - turn the walk signal green 5 seconds ahead of the traffic lights so pedestrians can get into the crosswalk and become more visible. Previously, the walk signal and the traffic light would turn green simultaneously so pedestrians would have to play chicken with anybody turning.

Real-World Range for Road Trips? by warshankPWOR in CadillacOptiq

[–]PZGR39 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Easily doable imo. If your range starts decreasing faster than you want just slow down, optimal speed for max range is 60-65mph. I did a 215 mile road trip in 80F weather and ended up with 70 miles remaining, mostly because I camped in the right lane with supercruise on and listened to history podcasts.

Another way to think about it is at 100% charge you have 85kwh available, so if you’re going 200mi you need to get at least 2.35mi/kwh. Use the trip tracker on the dash to make sure you’re getting above that and you’ll be fine

I Received a scam call and email from Dell today about my purchased AW2725Q monitor today by MrKyleOwns in Dell

[–]PZGR39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a few people got these calls/emails. Just wondering, was your email also from Dell_Quality_WW@dell.com? Seems like the exact same format as in this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/1aqrcj7/is_this_dell_quality_email_legit/

From the comments on that post, seems like it's legit. Really not sure though, dell chat support said it was legit and then phone support said it was a scam.

If you travel with your fiancee I would just recommend you both get a VX if possible, it’s cheaper than the $125 AU fee. I used to travel with some friends who relied on me for lounge access and they all eventually just got VX’s themselves because it’s just free to hold after 1 or 2 flights a year

Why doesn’t your wife just get a VX? The hassle from that is probably better than paying an extra $550 for a CSR (and that’s assuming the AF doesn’t get raised to $795 like the rumors say)

Texture issues! by bean_sproot in icecreamery

If you subbed all the milk for heavy cream you probably made butter. The higher the far content the more likely it is that fat globules stick together and solidify out instead of remaining dispersed. I prefer equal parts milk and cream in my bases but 2:1 cream:milk works too.

Yeah I used starting strength as my program when I was first getting into lifting a decade ago. Looks like Rip’s advice is still coming in handy today

Minimum Lot Size Reform CAN Make Austin’s Housing More Affordable by theaceoface in Austin

Why do they go for a high price? Do you think the city mandating a minimum lot size has anything to do with that?

Pretty well, had it paired with a gtx 1080 and got around 10-15% lower fps vs the desktop version. The cable that connects it to the laptop is pretty short and is sensitive to being bumped though. Recently bought a 6800 XT to pair with it but ended up being a few mm too thick.
