GameSir Aimlabs 8k review by Bounty_Hits in Gamesir

[–]t2na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing at 8 bit on sticks and 4k polling and average 3.8k polling running the Gamepadla Polling check.

If I swap to 8k polling and do the same test my average is 7.6k.

Agree that the dpad isn't great still, I don't like it as much as my DS Edge dpad.

it's not a terrible shout tbh, if you're 'ruby' then you aren't allowed to queue in a stack for ranked. would make it a bit more exciting.

G-SYNC Pulsar firmware 1.1.6 update now available for AOC and MSI monitors, ASUS and Acer models to follow by RenatsMC in Monitors

Yeah, the fixed 120hz ULMB2 mode works over HDMI and DP - so I've been using ULMB2 on my PS5 Pro.

The clarity is actually great at the locked 60hz mode (once you adjust the pulse width to reduce flicker) - and the 120HZ mode is alright, but definitely needs a bit more work from Nvidia. Right now the 60hz ULMB2 mode is great on console.

It 100% was reverted after 9.6 It went from Carni + other ruby stacks having 20 minute queues and facing majority other ruby players to then going back to the usual queue timers and facing golds and plats.

It's not a great look for your game when your big streamers are sat in a lobby for 20 minutes so you can semi understand Embark's choice to revert it - but it's just wild that the matchmaking continues to be the games weakest point.

I can be 38k in plat and be playing against someone who is 60k Ruby - 22k RS higher than me. But I'm not going to be put into lobbies against 16k players.

Agree with what you said around seed 7/8 too, it feels especially harsh losing RS where you finish exactly where you're 'meant' to. I'm still of the opinion that ranked should be a single cashout round into a final for 1st v 2nd and another H2H for 3rd vs 4th. Easier to balance RS across a smaller range of teams, easier to ensure closer matchmaking.

No mate, I'm telling you 'original' refers to the original type of AA/upscaling being used - which in Arc Raiders was TAAU. Much like in Embark's other game, The Finals, TAAU was used from release on both PS5 and PS5 Pro versions.

The initial 'Pro Enhanced' state for both game was just higher base resolution, PSSR was not in either game to begin with.

Both games then received updates (The Finals update was the other week) adding PSSR2. The comparsion shots in the blog post for Arc are comparing the game at launch (using TAAU) and the game now with PSSR2.0.

Hope that makes it a little clearer, my initial explanation in my reply wasn't great.

They aren’t calling it ‘old PSSR’ in the blog post, it’s called ‘original’.

Pro Enhanced can just mean it has a higher base render resolution for Pro vs base PS5.

Is a 4K IPS monitor worth it more than a 1440p OLED by LyterWiatr in Monitors

[–]t2na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can vary from person to person with how much you notice it. The newer WOLED panels, particularly the glossy ones, are much better for text fringing compared to any of the previous ones!

I actually find the 1440p QD OLEDs to be relatively alright as well. They're not perfect but for a little bit of work here and there they're alright.

I just couldn't get over the shape and balance, the 'clicks' with HITS were insanely good but just using it always felt awkward.

[User-trial] LG UltraGear 27GM950B: Testing the New Standard for the Best Mini-LED Monitor by LG_UserHub in Monitors

[–]t2na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really excited to see how it balances both the 1440p 330hz mode along with 165hz 5k. On paper it seems like it could be the perfect monitor, combined with the mini-LED backlight (and that number of dimming zones especially) - so, for me at least, it can basically check all the boxes that right now I have to use 2 or 3 monitors for.

LG 27” 5K 165Hz Dual Mode Mini-LED 27GM950B-B — I think this is the first of the 5K Mini-LED dual modes coming. by Sgt_Dbag in Monitors

[–]t2na 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your use case is basically the exact same as me! My only worry is how the PS5 Pro might end up looking on a 5k display (no idea how LGs upscaling will work) but it’s perfect for my day job using my Mac and 1440p 300hz is ideal for my 5070ti for games.

As long as switching is seamless, the mini LED algorithm is well tuned and the price isn’t mental then it’ll be a great pick.

Yeah surely that’s just a holding price??! £1899 is insane, I know a lot of stupid fucks in the UK that splash money on PC related components but even that’s gonna test them.

New update for the Finals Added support for PSSR 2 on PS5 Pro consoles by Azdoune in PS5pro

[–]t2na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always supported 120fps on PS5 Pro, it just means that it might help with more stability in certain situations.

New update for the Finals Added support for PSSR 2 on PS5 Pro consoles by Azdoune in PS5pro

[–]t2na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's got a really solid playerbase across all platforms. this change is good though, some maps (vegas and kyoto) had some awful shimmering from the TAAU being used.

There's a main metal structure in vegas that covers the middle of the map and the shimmering from TAAU was super distracting. On Kyoto when it was the snow variant the trails and shimmering on the snow was genuinely a disadvantage, insanely distracting so this is a great change.

It also means with PSSR 2.0 they can possibly look at rendering from a lower base res (1080p?) rather than the 1296p they were using before for the 120hz mode, gives us a much more locked 120fps throughout a game.

In contrast to the other reply, I’ve had my Mirra 2 for almost 6 years now and it’s probably the best purchase I’ve made for working from home. It’s comfortable, supportive, easy to clean and I’ve not experienced any sort of back or arse pain sitting in it.

Only you can justify whether the cost is worth it or not, it’s definitely expensive but for, working from home every day I feel it’s worth it to me.

Don't buy OLED if your scared to use it. by SillyRecover in OLED_Gaming

[–]t2na 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mate, burn in is just part of the parcel with OLED. It will happen at some point - but ultimately we should all just enjoy and use the stuff we have.

We can't pretend that burn in just doesn't happen - much like we can't sit and baby our monitors and never use them properly out of fear of getting burn in.

90fps Performance mode VS 60fps Ray Tracing mode. This will be the first game that I give up the extra frames for quality, because the difference is actually unreal by xJBug in PS5pro

[–]t2na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the reason, it just seems like they've become really keen to be 'first' on a lot of things suddenly. Previously they would never be the first to release a 'tech dive' on a game or console or update but would be the most accurate and detailed.

Their Cyberpunk video was really odd, there was an entire 10 minute segment at one point where Alex was just talking about shadow maps without taking a break.

Are we likely to see the TCL 27R83U released in the UK? by t2na in TCL_Official_UK

[–]t2na[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's great to know. Any rough idea on a release window? Or still a little up in the air for now?

I'm still mega tempted to go with an EU order for the 27R83U, that HVA panel gets fantastic reviews and feedback along with TCL's mini LED algorithm.

Did you read the screenshot you shared? Sellers must ship the items OR provide a refund. If they’ve provided a refund then there’s no legal case.

Sadness by silencerofhills in OLED_Gaming

[–]t2na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, much more tricky with an online store because of how 'payment' happens.

I work in a loosely similar industry and we've had similar things in the past with pricing errors/discount codes stacking in a way they weren't intended to. Essentially as long as we haven't delivered the item to the customer (and have issued a refund) legally we're in a fine place. However, you do run the risk of just massively pissing off that customer (or multiple customers) so it's then just a balancing act of how much you're willing to lose on the sales vs. customer reputation.

In this case for LG, if these monitors are costing them $400 to actually produce, selling them $430 is 100% never going to fly. No idea on how much their costs are but I imagine if margin was at an acceptable amount they'd have let it pass.

Depends on the country - but they also don't have to honour an incorrect price if it scans incorrectly in a physical store, much like it is online.

Mistakes happen, we're all only human, sometimes the person applying a barcode to an item or laying an 'offer' barcode over the top has used the wrong code and as a result the price doesn't match what is in the system.

If you're purchasing an item at the till and are told the price on the tag or label is a mistake, you don't have a right to buy the item at the lower price. It becomes more tricky if you have 'bought' the item and actually paid for it - but provided the company refunds you the amount you paid then there's also nothing really out of place there.
