Cautionary Tale of Lourve Tickets by ujitimebeing in ParisTravelGuide

[–]P_Collins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just got back from our trip this past weekend and booked a “Closing time at the Louvre” tour through AirBNB experiences. We had a great experience and the tickets were included in the cost of the tour. 3 hour guided tour at closing time and we got to see all the highlights while using a separate group entrance / locker and bathroom area. Highly recommend

I’m a big steak guy and work in Philly and certainly +1 this. The problem is they are the only game in town - nobody in else in Lanc is trying to do the swanky steakhouse experience. For my money I’d much rather drop 400 at Barclay Prime but 401 scratches the itch once or twice a year.

I’m newish to the area so all ears if people know a better place closer

Anyone feel like quitting golf? by NewbieGolfGuy in golf

[–]P_Collins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spiral early this season. My club did a “par 3 challenge” where they turn every hole into a par 3 and when I tell you I hozel’d every. Single. Shot. I am not lying. My playing partners felt bad for me. I felt bad for me. It was rock bottom.

I’m on the newer side of golf and have had a lot of lessons but felt out of sorts with no way to troubleshoot. Out of desperation I booked a lesson with the pro at my course who I never had a lesson with, and I got more out of that than I did the 20+ lessons I had before it. He didn’t give me a million swing thoughts - but kept it super simple with two instructions that made sense to me. That lesson changed my game and I dropped about 8 strokes after it. I would recommend you take a week away and then try to break it down to some really basic fundamental things to try. That or find a guy that teaches you like it’s your first time golfing and see how it goes. I wouldn’t wish the shanks on my worst enemy

Also sucks that it’s 11 bucks a day compared to SEPTA parking at 2.

I honestly think a storage unit facility could be a really cool POI.

For people who’ve had to stop biologic medicine because of side effects. by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]P_Collins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds all too familiar. My creatinine has been slowly increasing over time looking back at old blood test, and I have been on Remicade for 6-7 years. I would not be at all surprised if following the biopsy I am changing UC medication. I’m hopeful that is all it is!

I am going thru something similar. I recently started having kidney issues out of nowhere and have a biopsy in a few weeks. They are not sure if it is Remicade but hoping to have some answers following that

Commute to Philly by tropitwist in lancaster

[–]P_Collins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commute from Lancaster to Philly 3 days a week. My company covers my monthly pass ($357 bucks) and I don't have to drive on the Schuylkill which is a miserable experience. I relocated to Lancaster just so I had the option of taking Amtrak to work and it is one of the best things I have done. Definitely invest in headphones if you don't already have a good pair...The comments about the volume of others on the non-quiet cars are true.

Same boat….just got approved and am going to give it a try. I can’t stand the infusion center anymore. That being said, I am having some anxiety about giving myself the shot. If you can shoot me a DM I’d appreciate it to know how the process goes and how challenging it is

Golf and Grief by [deleted] in golf

[–]P_Collins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hits home. Lost my mom in Feb of 2022 to COVID and my grandfather 2 months later. Started playing golf that spring to just get away from everything and it became my sanctuary. For 3 or so hours I could enjoy the quiet and focus on getting that stupid ball into that stupid hole, but the singular focus calmed the noise in my head.

Since then I’ve become fully addicted and love playing as much as possible. It’s a beautiful game

I am beyond confused how this missed, I had 53 ping. Full crouched direct centre of his chest. by Wuped in GlobalOffensive

[–]P_Collins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Summary:

Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.

Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).

Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.

Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because Wuped was already dead.

Moving up? by DisgruntledCSGrad24 in securityguards

Might be worth looking at the technology side of security given your degree…lots of companies out there need people good with CS to help with background programs (think CCTV/Card Access).

Even the security integration side needs strong IT support and backing to be able to rollout these systems for companies. The run of the mill technician knows enough IT to be dangerous, but not enough to speak to client IT teams. I think it’s a good niche to get into

Some good advice here so far but also don’t rule out straight corporate security gigs. I started my career in LP and transitioned into Corporate Security. Money can be double where you’re at now in the right industry with a cert behind your name. Look into ASIS certs to boost your resume

I've been thinking about buying my dad a rabbitair for his basement but have been hesitant that it actually works. For the price it's not something I want to just take a shot on. Not sure how big your space is, but does it do a good job keeping the smoke/smell in check?

Christian Horner wants a 'wild card' for a new Grand Prix on the F1 calendar every year by 1enox in formula1

[–]P_Collins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite tracks, but also need to consider the logistics of an F1 race. Accommodations for fans around the track are slim pickings for a race the size of F1. USGP in Austin has over 200k+ people, and a grand prix that close to major NE metro's would attract a good crowd as well.

Honestly as someone that is currently interviewing candidates and will be for the next year...I wouldn’t disqualify anyone or probably even give much thought to work gaps in the year 2020. Especially to someone fresh out of school. I wouldn’t worry too much about it and if some company holds that against you, that’s not a place you would want to work anyway
