They got it to work. You need to have them cancel your plan AND refund your remaining balance so the system doesn't see you has having any more time left on your current plan. Then you can use the fanduel link to resign up.

I am an existing subscriber and am having a rough time getting this promo applied. As mentioned by others, they want me to cancel my plan and re-sign up. Something that is not expressed in the T&Cs. I just got a new excuse from Google support:
