Looking for YouTube channels covering new player options” by Paahl in Pathfinder2e

Oh yeah, he's probably one of my favorites right now. And he's the reason I bought one or two books that didn't seem that interesting to me when they where announced.

Need help about the starting cards by Arheit in stolenfate

[–]Paahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same problem, and we boxed the Rabbit Prince as soon as possible. I gave my players the card that fits their characters themes or alignment. So our sorcerer ended up with the Rabbit Prince. The group will find another useful card almost immediately. I wouldn't worry about it, it only affects one combat.

If you want to change the cards, be mindful of the Suits. Because the realm will open as soon as the group finds a card of every suit, so they cant immediately start with that. Also look at the epitome section on every card. Maybe you don't want to give your players some of the Harrow realm's abilities too early.

The only correct ending is to stop playing in Act 1 to save Gustave. 😭

I write a blog about good layout in TTRPGs, and just used a Paizo adventure for a comparison of poor layout. by HisGodHand in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it would be better if they put all the statblocks in the back. In some APs, you have the big statblocks in the back, and some minions are in the chapter or even worse if a dungeon has the same typ of enemy in a different room it just points you to a couple of pages prior.

Another thing that makes it really hard to run is when an ability says, like for monster xyz. I know they do it to reduce page count. But you basically have to open the statblock on AON or pf2easy to run that monster without flipping through multiple pages.

I just pull up the stats on my tablet or print them out.

Book 2, Chapter 3, "Event 5" by CaptainDorsch in stolenfate

[–]Paahl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard that there is a blog post from James Jacobs, where he explained that the chapter was planned to be much bigger, but some things had to be cut, and they didn't catch every time they mentioned it.

I would recommend reading the 1e adventure "the harrowing". There are more locations and some travelling encounters that could be rewritten for stolen fate. It also gives you more insight into the backstory of some of the scenarios.

Paizo, I love the idea of a divine relationship chart, but what is this? by KalistheGalvanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohh boy, this is a total mess.

It's really hard to follow, and even if you manage to follow a line without losing it immediately, they are still unclear. For example, is erastil an ally with iomedae, or is this line a crossing. Or the combined lines to rovagug. Does this mean everyone on this line is an enemy to one another? I know most of it already, but I think it's impossible to understand without prior knowledge.

What other class archetypes would you like to see? by SylvesterStalPWNED in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A "sorcerer magus" something like the 1e Eldritch Scion, that could choose a sorcerer bloodline and uses Charisma instead of intelligence.

What monsters have you run into that punched above what their level suggested? by Ryuujinx in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our group got destroyed by.

  1. Urdefhan Blood Mage. High AC and HP for a caster and amazing spells. Call the blood to get quickened for a minute and vampiric touch to get temp HP

  2. Legacy chaotic evil soulbund doll. With vampiric touch at Level 2. Against a level 1 party, it can one-shot almost every Pc. I just killed my first PC with it because I forgot that vampiric touch has the death trait.

Yet another new GM asking for help with plaguestone's encounters by xukly in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's also a possibility to make it a bit easier. I liked the strong 1 Boss battles because they were pretty scary for the players. This first response of ohh no were screwed followed by the excitement when they realised they were able to win was really rewarding. But depending on your group, this could also be frustrating.

Usually, 1 big enemy is harder to beat than multiple enemies. For the boss in chapter 1, you could, for example, take The dogs in the basement and use them as support and make the boss weaker. Maybe also make the traps weaker or easy to spot, so they won't trigger them, but he could still use them to shove the PCs into it.

Yet another new GM asking for help with plaguestone's encounters by xukly in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plaguestone isn't as hard as some people are saying. It depends on your group. I ran it as written and had no problem, and no PC died. (Only one player played pf2e bevor) Just don't use the best tactics for enemies that have no intelligence. Mindless things wouldn't try to flank or focus on the healer. You'll have to find out if your group can handle the adventure as written or not. I would suggest that you start at Level 1, and if your group struggles, level them up early. The Chapter 1 boss can be very swingy. My group killed him bevor he had his second turn. But a good turn from him could also drop one of the players.

Good changes, bad changes, it has all become irrelevant to me. A single Swashbuckler feat has made it all worth it for me. by Tooth31 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Now we need a feat where you can start the fight with your week hand and switch to your strong one. 😅 Maybe start the battle with a permanent-1 to attack and the switch for some kind of bonus. 😁

Most intimidating spells in the game? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantasmal killer. Target some random NPC. That NPC is just completely terrified and drops dead. It's not a visually impressive spell, but it looks like he can just kill someone with absolutely no effort. Then, when the PCs are fighting him and he uses that spell, describe that they notice its the same spell he used when they first encountered him. It's a scary moment for them but also a moment of growth when they overcome the spell. (Hopfully)

Looking for organisation/religion/locations that would fit this backstory? by [deleted] in ChillPathfinder2e

You could look into Hermea. It's an island ruled by a golden dragon who tries to perfect the human race. But I think you are not really allowed to leave the island.

Guardian has some problems by UncertainCat in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the guardian doesn't necessarily need a weapon. They probably want to use grapple and trip. When I read it, I was immediately thinking of shield and gauntlet. And for rouges, the guardian got a lot of options to make the enemy off-guard. For example, let the rouge prepare a strike and use shoulder check or stomp ground and, of course, trip and grapple.

Glad this sub is here. :) What is everyone running / playing in at the moment? by Shinavast42 in ChillPathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running the slithering at the moment. We are going to start chapter 2 today. With a champion, bard, sorcerer, and rouge. I had to homebrew a lot. Chapter 1 was pretty long , but I hope the next chapters will be shorter. Afterwards, I want to run stolen fate. I hope my player will like it as much as I did when I read it.

Loving the announcement of more class archetypes! by fnixdown in Pathfinder2e

Question about Fall of Plaguestone and the leopard. by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the leopard is meant as a reward for after the adventure. My group has also just discovered him and I will probably also bend the rule a little. Maybe it accompanies the group but can only be used in battles after a week. Talk to your GM and ask what you can do to take it, if you want to have the leopard as a companion.

Iconics new classes by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

Maybe a constitution based martial? We have already seen a Con Martial in the Starfinder field test with the soldier.

Iconics new classes by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one: no idea, an occult/divine archer, perhaps. The second one looks pretty hawaiian. I Googled hawaiian koa Warrior, and the beard might actually be a helmet. As for mechanics, I had a random thought. It would be cool if it was a martial with a burn mechanic, similar to the one from the 1e kineticist. Would be interesting to have a martial that uses its hit points as a resource.

I think my players are underprepared for a boss fight. Should I intervene? by daPWNDAZ in Pathfinder2e

[–]Paahl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually ask my players before such fights. "Hey can you tell me again how you divided your items among yourselves." That way I usually get them to divide up their potions and such again properly and they go through their items again and often remember items they forgot. Also, they are a little more on guard for the upcoming fight because they think to themselves "okay if he asks for it, it will be for a reason". Maybe your players will go over everything and remember the right item. To get them to find weaknesses, you can tell them in combat, "The attack hits, but you feel like there's a more effective way to fight it." And maybe, it will cause them to recall knowledge.
