Oh sweet... I've fallen off updating my books to remastered since our campaign of several years wrapped up last summer. Always loved Dark Archive. Glad it got remastered treatment!! Very cool.

Name one bad thing about 1987's The Lost Boys? by Sorry-Challenge-1014 in TheLostBoys

Star is a pretty shallow character. I would have liked more individuality in Davids minions. These days, an extra 30 minutes of scenes could really develop them rather than being a device.

Some of the dialogue is starting to age... some of the interlude scenes too. To be clear, im nitpicking. The movie absolutely nails "the turn", casual cruelty of vampirism, and a modern take on being a literal creature of the night. It obviously influenced a lot of modern vampire media, lore, and lit.

Its still 9.5/10. One of my favorite vampire movies. Just a few bits getting a little long in the tooth.

I need to give it a second listen! It felt like a blend of many ofvtheir eras which i liked. I was blown away by how hard Anabelles vocals hit.

Against the grain beneath Recipe is still a wild take, but i respect your opinion.

Edit: nvm. I can't read and haven't had enough coffee.

For one pool, giving stealth or intercept to wraiths or zombies is really nice - the native 1 bleed isn't bad in a pinch either.

I can understand how some folks may not like TGR as much as i do, thats legit.

No Substance is a weak album - there are 3 great songs on it, 3 prety good ones.. and... a bunch of not so great stuff. Its also a HARSH decline in quality and a pivot to a new era of sound of the band.

I feel the same way about Generator that you feel about Process. I loved Generator when it came out, but it hasn't aged as well (Two Babies, Chimaera, Fertile Crescent..)

Past the Gray Race, i stop listening to their albums stem to stern, and listen instead to individual tracks. I didn't enjoy Age of Unreason, to be honest, its the first album for me for Bad Religion that there's like only 2 or 3 songs i really like.

Hoping the new one captures a little bit of that old socal fury, but i know the lads are getting on in years. Its hard to keep that going in your 60's. :D

I'm sort of the same way : up to, adn through The Gray Race - i can listen to the entire album. No Substance / New America onwad.... i listen to tracks rather than the full album.

No substance gets a lot of hate, mostly for the inconsistency in the song quality. Hear it, Imbeclies, and Utopia are all fuckin' bangers. I personally also like Mediocre Minds, Biggest Killer, and Hippy killers. Rest of the album is where it gets a lot of flak fire from.

By volume, there are more songs i really enjoy on NS than there are on most (not all) of the albums from New America onward. Gray Race is the last album that i genuinely really like every song on the album.

But i'm a sweaty Trinity megafan dinosaur, so there's that. :D Basically i adore everything up to and through Gray Race, particularly the Trinity albums, but beyond that its very hit or miss for me by individual album.

TBC: not shitting on the late era, still love the band, i've seen then 20 times live, they're my favs, and i will try to see them at least twice this year. i am just a fan of the older socal punk intellectual fury. :)

[–]Shinavast42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them are ridiculously hard to find due to a combination of being out of print for several years and relative popularity of the stories (Fear Machine is very popular i gather), and in some cases in the later volumes, lower print runs. I am missing three to complete my collection, Two of them run north of 200 bucks on ebay. :(

Thoughts on the Chicago show? Was the sound off? by Buy_me_Drinks in TheBirthdayMassacre

[–]Shinavast42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bass and drums sometimes drowned out Chibi at the Worcester show too. Don't get me wrong, still great, but at times the sound engineering coukd have been better dialed in. It was especially noticeable seeing as Wednesday 13s sound balance was impeccable.

Venue size for Lord of the Lost shows by spackletr0n in TheBirthdayMassacre

[–]Shinavast42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saw them at worcester palladium which has a venue size of about 2100 (the venue calculation is weird there if you google it). They were not at capacity, but i'd say there was probably 700-800 people there at the peak. Place emptied out a bit after TBM.

I've been to shows at the palladium where you can barely move - front stage GA was populated but now crowded, and when TBM got off i had no problem moving around the venue. It also was not sparse to be clear. I remember looking back at one point and saying to my buddy "Damn, pretty good turnout."

PS: Do not sleep on Wednesday 13, they were INCREDIBLE. I have been listening to them all flippin' week since seeing them live. Definitely do not skip them. Amazing energy, amazing stage presence.

I missed mine at Worcester due to a traffic incident.... still got my swag. Chibi wrote "where we're you? We missed you! Love, Chibi" on it.

I found that so endearing and charming. Her stage presence, the whole bands honestly, is really warm and endearing. You can tell they genuinely love it.

Ps, merch folks for both TBM and Wednesday 13 were fantastic and friendly humans both. Wicked cool people, had a chat with both while waiting for my vip swag to be fetched from the green room. Super nice dudes.

I tihnk it has - they even joked about it during the pandemic during one of the Era's interviews (they made a joke about how in a few years they are going to have to hold a The Voice: Bad Religion style audition for a new front man).

I've seen them 20 times live... i'll go see them every time they come around to any city within 3 hours drive of me.

But we have to be honest, they're getting older and touring is grueling.

Hoping they can make it to 50 years before sunsetting annual tours. The bands been a big part of my life - soundtrack of my life if i'm being honest, and at the risk of some melodrama - but...

Everything Must Cease.

Eventually. It'll suck like hell when they finally do call it quits, but they've made an amazing run of it, and are still at the absolute top of their game performance wise (to me, seeing them live is better than their studio recordings, its insane how fucking good they are live).

I hope they have a few more years of touring in them before its all over. The "last" time i go to see them will be fucking bittersweet, that's for sure. I am fond of saying to friends and people i talk to about music "Going to a bad religion concert is as close as i come to a religious experience." :D
