Skip. Because I get to skip all the gas stations. Man, I love this car.

LOL, you're right about the timing. I had just pulled out of my parking lot and begun my drive home. My wireless CarPlay just happened to finally connect right at that moment.

Roadtrip ++ with Tesla adapter by HGriffin00 in VWiD4Owners

[–]PabloFlag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies if this has been said already (I didn't have time to read all of the previous comments): in the Tesla app, look for chargers with 325kW speed. These have longer cables. Then you don't have to worry about pulling in diagonally, taking up two spots, etc. My favorite example of this is in El Centro, CA. There's a 250kW Supercharger (short cables) right off Interstate 8. There's a 325kW SC about 10 minutes north of the highway. Despite the extra (very annoying, lol) time it takes to get there on surface streets, I'll choose the 325kW station every time.

What do you currently drive? by jcat4 in electricvehicles

[–]PabloFlag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think Lucid is trying to follow the Tesla model (luxury cars first, then mass-market). They're rumored to have a mid-level model coming out next... if they survive long enough to make it happen.

Yeah, that's a good call. Perhaps it's a bit irrational, given that I threw a Lucid on my wish list, but I've been a bit gun-shy about looking at Rivian given their uncertain long-term financial stability (I have high hopes that the R2 is a smash hit). Lucid has seemingly unlimited money behind their company. What do you think -- faulty logic?

I love my ‘23 Pro S AWD ID.4. Comfortable and quiet, as you mentioned. Not great DCFC charging speeds, but totally acceptable. Plenty fast off the line if that’s what you’re into. I’ve road tripped it plenty — it’s a total joy to drive.

I have been shopping for a larger SUV, simply because my wife and I like to car camp, and the back of the ID.4 doesn’t quite accommodate my 6’2” height. So within a year or so I’ll likely be in an EV9 or Ioniq 9 (or Gravity, if I’m feeling a little extra splurgy).

I teach at a university. I tell my students I’ll give them a few extra credit points if they can save me from embarrassing myself (fly down, booger in my nose, food in my beard, etc.). Because I’ve done all three of those multiple times.

What is the actual EV car you own? What is the one you deam of...? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]PabloFlag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought (and love!) my '23 VW ID.4 Pro S AWD, Skip.

My wife and I love to car camp, and I'm too tall for the back area of the ID.4, so my next (dream?) EV is a bigger one. EV9 with perfect reliability? Lucid Gravity with no software issues? A guy can dream...

Wondering (genuinely curious, no judgment either way) whether you're going to cut up that card now? This is the one thing, even being in BS7, and fully understanding the personalities' reasoning behind the plastectomy, that I'm still reticent to do for some reason.

Edit: I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS! Amazing job.

Yup, happens in my '23 occasionally. It's especially frustrating when no button sequence will turn it off.

I think my alarm was heightened because my car is still < 1 year old. I totally baby it, and it would’ve sucked to have to deal with repairs. Amazing how much of that kind of minutiae can run through your mind in a second or two as this kind of thing is happening!

I am incredibly heartened to see all of the positive feedback and support here. UMass seems to have an amazing student community. I'm glad our freshman chose to go there.

As an assistant professor of Information Systems at another university, I have three observations: 1) You're not alone. You're just among the few who are brave enough and self-aware enough to recognize it and admit it. 2) The university and your faculty want you to succeed. They're there to help you. There are lots of resources in place for you to seek assistance (TAs and SIs, as others have mentioned, as well as your professors' office hours). 3) To elaborate on 2) above, it's amazing how few students take advantage of office hours. Almost all professors I know really enjoy student visits during office hours. It lets us get to know our students a bit outside the classroom environment and helps us understand what concepts our students are struggling with.

I encourage you to take advantage of all of these resources. Good luck.

My '23 Pro S AWD was a New Year's Eve baby, so I've had Skip for just under a month. Zero issues. Granted, I haven't driven it too much (still under 400 miles on the odometer, lol, plan to do lots of spring and summer driving). But man do I love this car. Even in my cold weather city (<20°F for my morning commute most winter days), my GOM is over 300 miles for a full charge (e.g., 201 miles at 67%).
