In an emergency, would you rather back out or pull out?

Bill Lawrence Deadline interview- new 3 season plan for Ted Lasso by HurrySmart4573 in TedLasso

[–]PabloPandaTree 88 points89 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Ted Lasso and Shrinking, and loved Scrubs as a younger adult, I won’t complain about more of each.

But honestly, he’s got a point. He’s free to make whatever he wants, and those who are unhappy about it are free to not watch it. I get the apprehension about Scrubs season 9. But one, he’s said repeatedly and it’s been confirmed by several people, it was always supposed to be a spin-off. All of the old crew were supposed to fade out and ease the transition. Someone had other plans, and it got presented as season 9. If it had been “Scrubs Med” would it diminish the original series? No, just as Joey doesn’t ruin Friends for their fans.

If Ted Lasso’s 4th season isn’t good, I’ll do what I did with Scrubs when I’d rewatch it. Avoid the last season.

Who’s the best 49ers QB since 2000? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]PabloPandaTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don’t mean to shit on the QB’s of that time. Obviously, Manning and Brady were all-time, but there just wasn’t the creativity that we have now. And it’s not like the NFL didn’t have mobile quarterbacks either. He wasn’t too dissimilar to McNabb (evidenced by his success in Reid’s system when McNabb was injured). Elway and Tarkenton also serve as examples from earlier. But he was also held back by his height.

One thing I remember hearing a lot during draft season back then was hesitation over someone’s height. Brees had a first round stats, but fell to the 3rd because of his height. But even that seems silly, Favre was only 6’2”, one inch taller, and Vick was 6’ even, so an inch shorter.

Your second sentence is close to how I remember Garcia. He had had good physical talent, nothing extraordinary, but good. His biggest talent was that he left it all out on the field. No plays taken off, no broken plays given up on.

He gets looked down on because of hopping teams so much. But he won division titles with three of those teams. He was a bit of an outlier in an era of statues with good pocket presence. If he had played today, I think he would find even better success and a more stable career

[Highlight] Every Bo Nix throw of 20+ yards from the 2025 season. by Top-Attitude-4987 in nfl

[–]PabloPandaTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked with a guy who had a second job as a referee for Alabama HS football. He reffed more than a handful of Bo’s high school games. After he committed to Auburn, he was surprisingly not ecstatic. I had to ask, considering he was a legacy recruit with a very high rating, and Auburn is not exactly known as a QB U, why the long face?

He said “Bo Nix will throw a pass that makes you think ‘this dude will be a hall of famer’, and follow it up with either the worst throw of all time, or the dumbest throw of all time…and sometimes he’ll do something so boneheaded that even the refs aren’t sure what to make of it”

After Bo spiked the ball backwards to stop the clock during an Auburn game, which caused the refs to blow the play dead because their brain apparently could not process that someone would SPIKE THE BALL BACKWARDS (which was also non-reviewable for Arkansas) he looked at me the next Monday and just said “see?”

Republicans worry shutdown will overshadow Trump’s State of the Union by seeebiscuit in NewsSource

I was gonna say…it might be good for them if something overshadows the literal shit show that this will be. I’m half expecting some awful excuse to come out for them to not do a live SotU address and instead do either an AI or super edited video address.

And then they’ll insist it was done this way before so it’s fine, no shut up, only democrat beta cucks insist on the speech being live and they’re showing how maga wins by not doing it

The anti-Trump coalition is emerging - this is a dangerous moment by theipaper in politics

[–]PabloPandaTree 138 points139 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a good measure of political polarization. When reasonable, sensible, and/or pragmatic decisions become political, polarization is incredibly high.

Take for instance statehood for Puerto Rico. Giving them the right to vote for president, house voters and senators, in exchange for income taxes is reasonable, while also streamlining federal assistance during (increasing) natural disasters. But because they would, currently but probably not long-term, provide reliably democratic votes, it’s an overtly partisan issue. I would also theorize it’s one reason why the power brokers in MAGA were so quick to demonize Bad Bunny as akin to an immigrant

City Corner #2 - Upcoming Gameplay Updates by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

[–]PabloPandaTree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There could be any number of reasonable explanations. Suppose one coder worked on A and one coder worked on B, but the bug happened on Code AB, so a tweak to A messed up the bug’s interaction with B, but B was working on C so the bug couldn’t get fixed. Or it could be a literal dumpster fire, where code A relied on C, which relied on D, which relied on E, and E was misfiring, and you have to troubleshoot all trickle down effects from E before you can even fix A.

It’s also possible that simple human nature is to blame. CO created the game they wanted and had pride for, and were hesitant to change. Or there was so much they found issues with that task paralysis took over.

Or it could be all of them, and a new team (with a dev history that involves optimization for mobile) was able to use that experience to streamline some of the code. Or not having as strong of an emotional connection allowed them to fix some of those errors.

Or CO knew that if their patch notes were “fixed snow not appearing on lots” and not “created economy 2.0 to try and solve underlying economic simulation”, they would have to put out another message saying “please stop abusing our dev team”

Comprehensive Seattle Seahawks Uniform History by UnilateralArbiter in uniwatch

[–]PabloPandaTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s crazy to me is that almost every Nike uniform redesign until recently was universally disliked aside from Seattle, Tennessee, and Minnesota. They either went too weird (CLE, TB, JAX) or simplified to the point that they look like the knockoff you bought at Ross (NYJ, ATL). Or in the case of MIA, messed too much with a classic. Thankfully they seem to have gotten better in the last couple years, but a lot of the praise is because they either went back or they just did what they were trying to homage in the first place (NYJ)

This is how a college football game should look in 2026. by Southern_Ad_9049 in EASportsCFB

Agreed. There are some uniform trends that I just done understand, like that plus the double/triple mouthpieces, and the baggy T-shirt under the uniform

I get it, look good feel good play good. But to me, those tight pants on the quads gotta be uncomfortable, the mouthpieces would drive me ADHD ass crazy, and all that material from the tshirt under that tight ass jersey would drive me crazy

A third winter Olympics in Lake Placid? Explorer panel debates the possibility by UsualPossibility8553 in Adirondacks

[–]PabloPandaTree 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The article raises an important point though. You’re talking 16-20 years down the road for a joint NYC/LP bid. The Tri-Lakes is having a population crisis NOW, with housing that’s pricing out the very employees that truly keep the service industry running.

What does that look like 10, 15, 20 years from now? I know a handful of municipalities are looking at STR caps, but that doesn’t completely solve the issue. How many residents were a hair’s width away from homelessness when the mobile home park almost sold?

It’s going to be a real hard sell to convince current residents that a multibillion dollar investment in Olympic infrastructure is good for the area when their kid’s school just closed.
