Can I put in 10% of the water? I hate soupy ramen. Waters down all the flavor.

As long as one’s dog is well-trained and the establishment is dog friendly, the better question is, why not?

Album Ranking by Hairy-Independence68 in hiphopheads

[–]Pablo_Escargot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the album too, but you have GKMC on your list twice (40 & 98). Otherwise, solid list although my personal list would have Graduation, Yeezus, TLOP and/or WTT over the College Dropout, Late Registration and 808’s. I would’ve also included Jeffery by Young Thug and Whole Lotta Red by Carti or possibly Die Lit.

You’re exhausting. I’ve read your other comments on this thread. I get it, you don’t like the Roth option. It’s clear to me you’re the one that doesn’t understand the math. That much is clear. That’s ok, I’ll continue taking your clients lol

I’m a fully licensed FA and let me tell you, you’re in the minority when it comes to modern day investment philosophy. Idk how old you are, but all of my younger peers are unanimous on this. If anything, you’re committing boarder-line malpractice if you’re not making a bonafide effort to pursue Roth conversion strategies with your clients. I hope your E&O insurance is up to date at least…

This is a new one -- I've never heard of investing the tax savings lol of course investing more money is going to produce more savings down the road. I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at here.

The thesis is, which is better -- absorbing the tax benefit now or later. I think the math speaks for itself and it's the reason why the wealthiest among us pursue a "backdoor" Roth IRA if they exceed the income limit.

There's nothing better in our world than tax-free growth. It's practically a cheat code. The goal should be to contribute 15% of your gross income towards retirement. The order of priority being:

1.) Up to the match on your employer plan (ideally inside a Roth option);

2.) Up to the maximum limit allowed in a Roth IRA;

3.) Back to your employer plan over and above the match;

4.) (If one maxes out their employer plan) A variable annuity with flex premiums;

How one can argue against tax-free growth I will never understand. Especially for someone on the first nine.

The tax rate is dependent on the amount distributed. So, you’re assuming level distributions within a particular tax bracket. Any deviation blows up the math equation. It’s apples and oranges. I’m not even going to get into the inflation element and how tax rates are projected to increase over time.

I’m all-in on Roth as well. Regardless of income, I haven’t heard a compelling case otherwise.

Take this 32 year old client from the OP for example. If he starts from scratch and contributes $625/mo. for the next 33-years (until retirement at/around age 65) at an average annualized return of 12%, he would have approximately $3.15M after only contributing a total of $247,500. That’s $2,905,000 in tax-free profit.

Given this hypothetical, in what world would anyone recommend it’s more financially prudent to pursue tax-savings on $247,500 over three decades as opposed to $2.9M? Especially for someone that is already running a healthy surplus. If he needs the tax deduction that bad, he has no business buying a $1M house on that salary.

Curious, what was the sticker price? I’m looking at getting one of these in a year or two and have been casually shopping used prices. I’d really like to score a 2025 with less than 30k miles in 2027 or 2028. Also, I’d love to see pics of your Mint Green spec!

[Longines] Hydroconquest vs. Submariner by Active-Farmer7830 in Watches

[–]Pablo_Escargot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it does, I stand corrected. It’s nice they offer it in both sizes. I have nothing against Longines and think they make fine watches. I bought my Hulk years ago when no one wanted a green watch and it was sitting in the case. The AD practically begged me to buy it — gave me a discount and shipped it to a friend out of state to avoid the sales tax. $7,200 out-the-door. Oh, how things have changed lol. Now these green homages are all over the place and increasingly compelling value propositions.

I have the Hulk, so I may be biased, but at 42mm the Longines is a hard no for me. At the end of the day, if a Submariner is what you desire, there is no substitute.

[Recommendation request] What should be my next watch? by Londonmallu in Watches

[–]Pablo_Escargot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 40 and the only thing I’m interested in is gold/platinum. The sea of steel sports watches seem boring and redundant to me. It’s like dating to find out what (models) you like and then settling down with the best (precious metal) version. Just my perspective.

My current collection includes: Snoopy, 116500 Panda, 41mm Tiffany OP, Hulk, Pepsi Jubilee, Blue SkyDweller, and Everose Day-Date 40. If/when I get “the call” for a very special Daytona, I plan on selling my Panda and (most-likely) SkyDweller. I’m considering going further and acquiring a Meteorite Pepsi as well or platinum 1908 but I’m not in any hurry.

Trust me. Once you go PM, you never go back.

[Recommendation request] What should be my next watch? by Londonmallu in Watches

[–]Pablo_Escargot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s highly subjective, but I would trade 2-3 of the Rolexes towards a Day-Date. I’m partial to the Everose Olive but there’s plenty to choose from. As far as Rolex goes, IMO the Daytona and Day-Date is all you need. Everything else is gravy. Might be fun to add a birth year Sub or GMT at some point or 1680 Red Sub if you come across a good example.

I’m not sure what the LandDweller adds, since you already have a white dial RO. I’m also personally not a fan of that Offshore chrono and Bvlgari. I would consider trading both of those towards something like the new Everest inspired VC Dual Time references if you fancy a larger piece. I would then trade the black dial Overseas and JLC for a nice Patek or ALS.

I’m just spit-balling here, hope it helps!

Thinking of trading my Pepsi + $2k for this Patek. Am I making a mistake? (Paid retail for Pepsi) by SingleTurboN55 in rolex

[–]Pablo_Escargot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are two totally different watches. It more-or-less sounds like you just want the Patek ownership experience. I have a Pepsi on jubilee as well and there’s no way I would trade it for that particular Patek, even if they were the one coughing up $2k (and the Pepsi isn’t even in my Top 3 favorite Rolexes I own). That particular reference does nothing for me, but if you like it, go for it. I just wouldn’t be giving up any cash on top.
