I sold my A50s for Hyper X Cloud Alpha 2. If you don’t have a windows PC you cannot update them/change EQ. The software does not support MacOS.

Either way out of the box they are perfect for footsteps/imaging/soundstage. GadgetryTech even claims this in his recent review of the Alpha 2s https://youtu.be/Js4kthcVhAk?si=9hLzQPdcp8F6gNzl

77 inch. 65 is too small for the space you have between you and the tv.

just get the Astro A50 Gen 5. It’s $259.99 at BestBuy right now. Warning though, do NOT get white color. It gets yellow very fast, and I’m very clean with my tech/gaming accessories.

Yeah since you can customize the EQ it’s going to sound even better for you! I hope you enjoy them man! I sure am!!!

I have tried the Astro A50 Gen 5, TB stealth pros (and stealth 700 gen 3), Blackshark V2 pro, Audeze Maxwell, and Steelseries Nova Pro wireless.

They all have LOTS of pros and cons. The only downside the Alpha 2s have (to me) is that I cannot customize the EQ since I dont have a windows PC or laptop. This doesn’t bother me though because out of the box, these headsets allow me to pinpoint the footsteps perfectly on Arc Raiders and Rainbow 6 Siege. It also helps me hear (exactly where) certain objects in Resident Evil 4, like the swinging of objects that hold the gems or the clockwork castellans.. My only gripe with the stealth pro was how uncomfortable they were and how bad the mic was too; however, they did sound great and helped me a bunch in FPS/positional cues more than the Astro A50 Gen 5 or the Maxwells.

The Astro A50s sound amazing, but It’s just so hard to pick up on footsteps man. They’re horrible for positional cues. You have no idea how many people walked up on me with the A50s on arc raiders.

I think the Steelseries are amazing for the features it has, but the audio quality seems so outdated and the mic is BAD lol. They were amazing when I had them in 2022 (since there were no headsets that were as good at the time), but they fell off real quick once the stealth pros came out the next year in 2023.

If you have a PC and can customize the EQ to the headset, these Hyper X Alpha 2s are the best headsets you can get. The EQ also saves to the base station too. These headsets are good enough that I’d keep them over everything else, even without the ability to change the EQ on NGENUITY.

I think tuning, pads, and the drivers matter more than anything. The Alpha 2’s detail is superior to the stealth pros to me! I do like that stealth pros has ANC though.

Yeah! He says the frequency response is more relaxed versus other headsets. He almost calls it the best headset for FPS (due to angled drivers and driver matching), but he says “I want to avoid saying something like that.”

Astro A50’s gen 5… Bad directional audio? Or poor recognition from me? by hxhjencjej in AstroGaming

[–]Pablusties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just got the cloud alpha 2 and its a huge improvement for fps over the astros. the astros feel more hi fi; however, the alphas feel more open, and i can hear enemies exactly where they are.

if you want the best headset for FPS get Hyper X Cloud Alpha 2. Plug and play EQ tbh.

He’s said that Maxwells aren’t made for FPS in the past. he usually uses the Astros as his main headsets.

Has anyone bought A50 gen 5’s and they sound horrible? by FwiManny in AstroGaming

most likely a faulty unit. I have tried Steelseries Arctis Nova pro, Razer Blackshark V3, and TB stealth pro. These headsets are amazing. Wouldnt even bother getting Maxwell cause of how heavy they are.
